Babel's Big at the Golden Globe Nominations

The Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning by Rosario Dawson, Jessica Biel and Matthew Perry. Brad's latest film Babel is the big leader scoring 7 nominations. We were of course pleased to see Leo on the list but he will be competing with himself for best actor in Blood Diamond and The Departed. The Departed was right behind Babel scoring 6 nominations which also includes a best director nomination for Martin Scorsese. Newcomers Sacha Baron Cohen and Jennifer Hudson both picked up nominations. Grey's Anatomy, 24, Big Love, Heroes and Lost are all up for best TV drama, and Desperate Housewives, Entourage, The Office, Ugly Betty and Weeds are up for best comedy or musical TV series. Brad's Big Babel Premiere

Brad left behind Angie and the kids for a big Babel premiere night at Westwood's Mann Village Theatre in LA. Kate glowed in her Ralph Lauren gown but it was Brad that she was gushing about. Cate complimented her co-star in his role as her husband by saying he was, "a brilliant risk taker as an actor, and it is a testament to his versatility that he is being consistently rediscovered."

Brad Cracks Up His Co-Stars

It's good to know that Brad Pitt can keep his sense of humor through all the drama he has going on in his life - on and off the set. Brad was evidently quite the jokester when the cameras weren't rolling on his new film Babel. Here's more:

In an interview in Entertainment Weekly's Oct. 30 issue, the 42-year-old actor says he amused himself and his colleagues by yanking up his pants to give himself a wedgie, sticking out his rear and waddling about like a duck. "Throughout the movie, I'd walk around like this," he says.

"You've gotta find things to make you laugh during the shoot," he adds. "Cate (Blanchett) called it the Hungry Bum."

He explains: "When your bum's so hungry it's trying to eat your pants."

It's hard to believe that these were the off-set antics of a possible Oscar contender but we know he's a jokester with his buddy Clooney also. Anyway, wonder if Angelina appreciates Hungry Bum? For more Brad, check out EW.

Babel Screening Brings out the Blondes

The ladies came out in NYC last night to support Brad and Cate in their upcoming film, Babel. Blanchett plays Brad's wife in the film where lots could get lost in translation. The director even spoke about how hard it was to "get rid of text and find how to translate these words -- and in this case three continents, five languages and four stories, all these diverse elements -- into one, single visual language."

Sounds very interesting. No wonder so many came to check it out. The lovely ladies at last night's event included Famke, Naomi and Gwyneth. As for Ivanka Trump - it looks like she brought along some new friends to the event. Look for Babel in theaters October 27th. More pics from the screening so just read more

Oscar Noms Announced, Dreamgirls, Babel Score Big

The nominations for the 75th Academy Awards were announced this morning in Los Angeles by Salma Hayek and Sid Ganis. Dreamgirls scored the most nominations with eight, but was shut out of the Best Picture category (Beyonce was also passed over). Babel came in with seven nominations, and while it scored two acting noms, some of its actors, most notably Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett who many thought were shoo-ins, were also left out. Blanchett did earn a Supporting Actress nod for her work in Notes On a Scandal. The nominees in some of the major categories are:

Cate, Kate and Jessica Take Palm Springs Honors

Palm Springs sure makes everyone look stunning. The British Kate and Sienna looked amazing as well as the other Cate. As usual, Jessica Biel was all class showing off her sick and well rested body. She was there to receive the Rising Star Award. Another big winner of the night was Babel who took best ensemble performance and Director of the Year. Cate Blanchett won Career Achievement of the Year for her work in the film as well as Notes on a Scandal and The Good German. Brad may not have won an award on his own but Cate made sure to throw some attention his way. Here's more:

Blanchett on stage joked that she could barely speak English, prompting Pitt to play interpreter and feign sign language. He also lead the crowd of 1,800 (which included Morgan Freeman, Laurence Fishburne, Alan Arkin and Sissy Spacek) in singing Happy Birthday to their Japanese Babel co-star, Rinko Kikuchi. In honor of Kikuchi's 26th birthday, Blanchett playfully said she was pulling a Britney Spears - "not wearing any underwear this evening."

Tiffany was an event sponsor, and stars were greeted on the red carpet by a 5-foot version of the jeweler's signature blue gift box, wrapped in white ribbon. Kate Winslet (honored for acting achievement for her role in Little Children) Winslet said her "childlike brain" was hoping to see "a person leap out of the box and perform some fabulous tap dance." The gift box sparked "extreme excitement" from presenter Sienna Miller. "I'd like to be in that box with whatever else is in there," she said.

Sounds like a great night. Love the fact that Cate Blanchett is totally up to speed on Britney's missing underwear! Goes to show that A-List celebs don't take themselves too seriously. Brad is Back

Brad Pitt will be back on the big screen October 27th in his new movie Babel. We've enjoyed Brad as the stoner in True Romance and the cool guy in Oceans 11 and 12 but this movie looks like he may be able to show off some real acting talent. Often changing his look when taking on a new role, Pitt sports a rugged, dusty look with short cropped hair in 'Babel,' which opens on October 27.

Cate Blanchett co-stars with Brad and an international ensemble of actors and non-professional actors from Morocco, Tijuana and Tokyo.

The concept for 'Babel' comes from the famous biblical reference to a tower built by a united humanity with the intent to reach heaven. As the story goes, this upset God -- in anger, God made each person involved speak different languages, halting the project and scattering a confused and disconnected people across the planet.

In the film, Brad and Cate portray a married couple on vacation when a tragedy strikes, interweaving four stories set in Morocco, Tunisia, Mexico and Japan.
