Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) returns for another adventure at sea in the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. This time around, Jack is dragged aboard Blackbeard's ship by his former flame, Angelica (Penelope Cruz), and forced to set out with the crew on a quest for the fountain of youth. Despite the onscreen chemistry between Depp and Cruz, the movie drags on with too many action scenes. DVD extras include a blooper reel and audio commentary by director Rob Marshall.

Bad Teacher

Cameron Diaz heads to the classroom as Elizabeth, a foul-mouthed middle school teacher whose main concern is saving up enough money to get a boob job, so that she can lure a new sugar daddy. She eventually sets her eyes on fellow teacher Scott (Justin Timberlake), overlooking the advances of a gym teacher played by Jason Segel. While it's refreshing to see Diaz take on a bad-girl role, the movie's plot is weak and the film is ultimately forgettable. The extras on the DVD include two featurettes and an interactive yearbook.

Cameron Takes Bad Teacher South as Costar Justin Toasts Baseball With Beer

Cameron Diaz slipped into an ALC ivory jumpsuit and headed south of the border on Sunday for a Bad Teacher photocall in Mexico. Cancun's playing host to many A-list celebrities during its annual film festival. Brad Pitt premiered Moneyball, and George Clooney was there on behalf of The Ides of March. Cameron made the promotional trip solo while her costar Justin Timberlake hung back in the States to chat up his next comedy Friends With Benefits - stay tuned for Justin's thoughts on romance, relationships, and MySpace. Last night, though, Justin headed to Phoenix for the MLB All-Star game. During a spontaneous interview on the field, Justin plugged his new film with Mila Kunis and Justin also professed his love for beer.

Box Office: Transformers Continues to Dominate

Not many films have been able to hang on to the box office crown for long this Summer, but Transformers: Dark of the Moon is proving to be an exception. The Michael Bay sequel scored the top spot for the second weekend in a row, taking in $47 million this past weekend. New comedy Horrible Bosses settled for a distant second, taking in a healthy $28.1 million. Kevin James's box office magic seems to be dwindling, as Zookeeper opened in third with $21 million.

Cars 2 slipped to fourth with $15.2 million, while Bad Teacher hung on to the top five by earning $9 million. Though Transformers is the Summer's biggest success so far, next week's release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 should make for stiff competition.

Do We Need More B*tchy Ladies on the Big Screen?

Chick-coms can play with the big boys now that Bridesmaids has been crowned the top R-rated female comedy of all time with a domestic total of $152.9 million at the box office this weekend (surpassing former champ Sex and the City). So now that we've made headway in the raunchy comedy arena, is it time to temper the stereotypical sweet/sexy - and in the case of Bridesmaids, down-and-out - heroine with some mean, badass leading ladies?

The Huffington Post points out that with characters like Jennifer Aniston's seductress in Horrible Bosses and Cameron Diaz's role in Bad Teacher, we're finally seeing some naughty women in comedies relish who they are, in all their b*tchy glory. Cameron's character Elizabeth Halsey doesn't fit into a prepackaged female film role, which is refreshing; she's not going to transform into an angelic role model and/or find love and live happily ever after, she's not a throwaway sideline character meant for comedic one-liners, she's not the sexy love interest for a male protagonist, and she's not the evil villain. Instead, she's a flawed heroine who hates her job and does what she wants despite society telling her otherwise - and isn't that a female character we can relate to?

Are you tired of seeing safe female characters? Is it time to spice things up with some devilishly confident women?

Transformers: Dark of the Moon Has a Sunny Opening Weekend

As expected, Transformers: Dark of the Moon dominated the Fourth of July Weekend, taking in a whopping $97.4 million to secure first place (the film has grossed over $162 million since opening last Wednesday). It didn't just win the crown though; the movie also set a new record for the biggest Fourth of July weekend opening ever, and the biggest opening of 2011.

Last week's champ, Cars 2, settled for a distant second with $25.1 million, while Bad Teacher dipped to third place, taking in $14.1 million. Tom Hanks's romantic comedy Larry Crowne made its debut in fourth with $13 million, followed by new teen flick Monte Carlo, which rounded out the top five with $7.6 million.

Cameron Diaz Cracks Up During a Spanish TV Show Appearance

Cameron Diaz got playful on the set of the Spanish show El Hormiguero in Madrid today. It was the latest silly TV moment after Cameron sported a futuristic white dress on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to promote Bad Teacher last week. Cameron and her leading man Justin Timberlake premiered their raunchy film side by side in the Big Apple, and the press paid off when they landed the second place spot at the box office on opening weekend. Cameron is still fulfilling her obligations for the movie, but her costar has already moved on to another project since it was just announced that Justin Timberlake invested in the relaunch of MySpace.

Box Office: Cars 2 Zooms to First Place

Cars 2 may not have received the same critical acclaim as its Pixar predecessors, but it still earned box office success. The kids' movie scored the top spot and took in $68 million for its debut weekend. Right behind it was Bad Teacher, which opened with $31 million. Green Lantern dipped to third with $18.5 million, while Super 8 took fourth with $12.1 million. Mr. Popper's Penguins completed the top five with $10.3 million.

Cameron Diaz Shoots Down the Craziest Rumor She's Heard About Herself

Cameron Diaz's new movie Bad Teacher is out in theaters this weekend, and we had a chance to catch up with her while filming our latest I'm a Huge Fan with the A-list actress. Cameron chatted with us about what it was like watching the Justin Timberlake-Jason Segel bromance blossom, why she loves taking on over-the-top characters, and what it's like working with Colin Firth on their upcoming film Gambit. Plus, check out her answer when our winner asked what was the most outlandish rumor Cameron has ever heard about herself. Here's what Cameron had to say:

You have great comedic chemistry with Jason Segel; what makes you two work well together?
Jason Segel is a comedic genius, so I just followed his lead. He has such great timing, and he's so funny, and he really just knows how to do it, so I just played with his rhythm mostly. It's just written so well, as well.

Do you have any funny on-set stories about Jason and Justin?
I mean tons, way too many to even mention. There was a bromance happening most of the time. I couldn't get into the circle; it was impenetrable, a man world in there. I just kind of watched it at a distance in awe of the love and beauty that was being born on the set of Bad Teacher.

You're currently filming Gambit with Colin Firth; how is that going?
Colin Firth is the loveliest man on the face of the planet, and we are having a blast. We're really, truly just having such a great time.

What was going through your mind filming the car-wash scene?
Oh, please, Lord, do not let me slide off the hood of this car onto the concrete. That would suck.

read more. What draws you to risqué and over-the-top comedic roles like the one in Bad Teacher? With a role like this, you just have to let it all hang out and not worry about anything. You have to go in knowing that the character herself is fearless and doesn't have any moral qualms; she's not worried about it, so I can't be worried about it. I feel like it's a very authentic piece [laughs]. There's no apology at the end of this. Elizabeth isn't trying to make up for all the terrible things she's done and said to people. She's done what she's done, and that's it, which I appreciate, since it's authentic to a lot of experiences in life. You don't always have an epiphany and change your whole life and your experience or what your drive is. How was it working with all the kids? The kids were awesome. They were hilarious. They had to have the best sense of humor to be a part of this, because we were really, truly inflicting a lot of pain on them on a daily basis. That's what I love about kids: they do get it, and we let them be a part of it and participate in it as human beings. They contribute so much to the film. They're really wonderful. What is the craziest rumor you've ever heard about yourself? There's one that's been around for literally 10 years, and before it was attached to me, I heard it about Demi Moore. It's that I only wash my face with Evian water. That's the craziest thing, since there are so many other bottled waters I wash my face with, other than Evian [laughs] . . . I think it was a marketing plan Evian had at the time. No, it's absolutely not true. It wasn't true for Demi; it wasn't true for me. I think where that comes from - we live our lives in trailers. [Actors are] like circus folk; people don't realize that it's superunglamorous, and the water [in the trailers] comes from tanks they put chemicals in so that it doesn't freeze. It's like an antifreeze. You would never wash your face with it. So anyone who washes their face at work would have to use bottled water to wash their face. There's a grain of truth in everything that someone has taken it and just spoiled it.
