Maggie to Take Over For Katie in Batman

The whole Gyllenhaal-Saarsgaard clan (minus Jake - boo) including Maggie's parents braved the cold weather to lunch at the Spotted Pig in NY this week. Rumor has it that Maggie is set to reprise Katie Holmes' role in the next Batman flick, The Dark Knight. As you know, Katie dropped out of the film due to scheduling conflicts with her Queen Latifah project, Mad Money. While we'll miss Katie in the film, Maggie seems like a great fit. It would definitely be a non-indie movie for her that we would welcome. Can't wait to see what she has in store for Batman!

Katie Backs out of Batman

Katie and Tom met while she was busy promoting Batman, and he was on a world tour promoting War of the Worlds. Since then, Katie hasn't worked much. She's been busy as a mom, a bride and BFF to Posh and J Lo. We were looking forward to Katie getting back to work in The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman, but she's apparently backed out due to scheduling conflicts with another project. Here's more:

According to the Wall Street Journal, the studio is now searching for an actress to replace Holmes in the big budget picture, the salary for which will likely be in the $1 million to $2 million range.

"Katie was offered [Dark Knight] but was unable to accept the role because of scheduling conflicts,” Julie Polkes, a spokeswoman for Holmes, tells the WSJ. “She was in the process of negotiating for another project. In addition, when she returns to work, she would like to tackle a new character."

The new project she’s leaning towards? Mad Money, a comedy about three female Federal Reserve workers who plot to pocket old currency before it's destroyed. Holmes would take a pay cut and receive only $250,000 for her role in the film, which possibly costars Queen Latifah.

$250,000 seems like a major pay cut for Katie. She probably made more money as Joey Potter. Tom has helped launch the careers of his significant others before so it's only a matter of time before she is making millions and winning Oscars. It was just made official that Heath Ledger will play The Joker in the next installment of Batman and now rumors are buzzing that Ryan Phillippe may play Harvey Dent/Two-Face. We love comic book movies but we'll admit we don't care that much about who is playing who - if you put Ryan, Heath and Christian in a film we will go see it. Well, if you put Ryan in anything we will see it and since we never need a reason to post this pic, enjoy!

For Now, Christian Bale Is Just a Man

A skinny Christian Bale walked around the set of The Fighter yesterday in Boston. He's lost weight for his role as a drug addicted boxer, which is quite the contrast to his beefed-up costar Mark Wahlberg. Christian will have a reason to put the pounds back on if he reprises his role in the next Batman movie, which is apparently set to start filming next year.

Christian Shows Off His Size and Smile

Christian Bale looked chipper Thursday as he grabbed coffees and snacks from a Starbucks in LA. He seems to be getting back to a healthier size after losing lots of weight for The Fighter last Spring, so all those coffee drinks must be doing the trick. Christian has even more work to do before getting back into superhero shape, with production of the next Batman movie scheduled to start in the next year.

From Gay Cowboy to Batman Villain

Jake Gyllenhaal may join the Batman cast as the villain character Two-Face. I'd love to see him in a comic book movie.

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN star JAKE GYLLENHAAL is being touted as Gotham City district attorney HARVEY DENT in the next BATMAN sequel, along with PAUL BETTANY, who may play the JOKER.

Gyllenhaal would play Gotham City's good-guy lawyer, who mutates into his alter-ego, TWO-FACE, in the third film.

In the sequel, BATMAN would team with Harvey Dent to destroy the Joker, according to moviehole.net.

TOMMY LEE JONES formerly played Dent/Two-Face on the big screen in BATMAN + ROBIN.

Director CHRIS NOLAN is set to return, along with CHRISTIAN BALE, KATIE HOLMES, GARY OLDMAN and MICHAEL CAINE.

Victoria Beckham took her two sons and one little Batman out to see The Spiderwick Chronicles in honor of Brooklyn's 9th Birthday yesterday in LA. How freaking adorable is Cruz in his costume that - of course - matches his mom's dress and Birkin? Love. It. Check out how to get her look here. The two older Beckham boys chose to keep things a little more casual in their hats. Posh was back to being her glamorous self, but we're not forgetting her day as everyday mom that quickly. Heh. David was overseas doing good and had to miss his eldest son's birthday, but I'm sure he'll make it up to Brooklyn with some boy time when he gets back to town.
