Charlize Theron Toasts Her Golden Globe Nomination With a Premiere

Charlize Theron stepped out in Beverly Hills last night for a Young Adult premiere held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She donned a dress from Stella McCartney to pose on the red carpet along with costars Patton Oswalt and Elizabeth Reaser, as well as the movie's writer Diablo Cody. It was a extraspecial screening for Charlize, because earlier in the day she made the list of 2012 Golden Globe nominees! Charlize was pleased with the accolade, saying yesterday, "Yeah, these are the moments where you go, what did I do in a past life to deserve all of this? It's all too much."

Her character, a 30-something author who returns to her hometown to try and win back her now-married ex-boyfriend, is a controversial one. Playing the role opened Charlize's eyes about portraying someone unlikeable and also taught her about some weird female habits. In particular, Charlize doesn't get Hello Kitty. She said recently, "I'm pretty amazed by Hello Kitty. I see so many women in their 30s walking around in Hello Kitty sh-t, and nobody is concerned for them. It's the one iconic teenage symbol that seems OK for women in their 30s? The world seems to not have an issue with it."

Mark Wahlberg and the Entourage Guys Premiere Their Final and "Best Season Yet" in NYC

The guys of Entourage celebrated their final season with a big, red carpet premiere at the Beacon Theater in NYC yesterday evening. It was a sweltering night in the city, but the cast still suited up and graciously made their way down the press line before heading in to show off the first episode. Executive producer Mark Wahlberg and his wife Rhea joined in the festivities, and he told us that fans should expect season eight to be the "best one yet." Jeremy Piven, Adrian Grenier, Jerry Ferrara, and the two Kevins - Connolly and Dillon - all shared their excitement over making an Entourage movie to follow up the hit series and the show's creator, Doug Ellin, confirmed they are definitely going ahead with the big-screen adaptation. The ladies of the show all looked stunning with Emmanuelle Chriqui in striking red and Perrey Reeves in a Grecian gown.

There are big changes in store for the characters last few episodes, which follows up a dark end to last year's arc. Jeremy Piven says we'll be seeing a new side of Ari while Constance Zimmer, who pays Ari's former lover and professional rival, divulged that there is Dana-Ari rekindling to kick things off. Perrey Reeves revealed that her character Mrs. Ari will be dating this season and that we will finally learn her first name. George, Leonardo, and Ben Celebrate Men With Gorgeous Girls at Guys Choice

It was a rowdy and A-list crowd at last night's Spike TV Guys Choice Awards in LA. Sandra Bullock's surprise appearance to accept the Troops Choice honors was one of the show's highlights - watch her speech below - but there were more than a few other famous faces there to join in the party. George Clooney followed in Brad Pitt's footsteps accepting his golden antlers while Charlize Theron was this year's Decade of Hotness winner after Halle Berry in 2009. Leonardo DiCaprio and Ben Affleck also added new statues to their collections during the testosterone-fueled event. Of course, there had to be some beautiful women added into the mix and Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel fit the bill perfectly.

Brooklyn Decker is becoming quite the movie star herself and was still sporting that Hawaii tan after shooting Just Go With It with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. George caught up with Kid Rock backstage where Jon Hamm posed with the A-Team's Bradley Cooper. The show, which airs June 20 on Spike TV, is usually a pretty raucous event and it looks like everyone had a great time. We'll be seeing a few of these faces again this evening at the MTV Movie Awards so stay tuned for our live coverage!

Prince of Persia: A Forgettable but Fun Adventure

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time teeters right on the brink of movie mediocrity. It's neither amazing nor offensively bad, the action sequences are entertaining but not mind-blowing, and the performances are fine but not nuanced. Using Jake Gyllenhaal's familiar face and jacked up abs as a promotional tool helps to tip the scales in the right direction, but ultimately it's not enough to keep the film afloat against Summer's heaviest hitters.

Gyllenhaal plays our scrappy titular prince, Dastan. Born a street urchin and taken under the King's wing as a boy, Dastan's lack of royal blood doesn't make him any less a part of the family, which consists of his two brothers and uncle (an always-excellent Ben Kingsley). That is, until he's framed for his father's murder and forced to flee the city. With only a mysterious dagger that can turn back time and a hot-headed princess in tow, Dastan sets out to prove his innocence and set things right - finding romance, hijinks, and some ostriches along the way.

For a movie that's based on a video game, I was impressed with how well the plot holds up throughout the two-hour film. There are plenty of weapons and choreographed fight sequences that had me reminiscing about the days I spent mastering Nintendo moves, but I certainly didn't feel like I was simply watching someone else play a video game. The story is predictable but still engaging, and is packed with enough characters (Alfred Molina is particularly fun as a wisecracking thief Dastan encounters) and twists to balance out the action and often (literally) blinding special effects.

There's no questioning that the movie is entertaining but it's unfortunately lacking in script and character development. The dialogue is often painfully cheesy, chock-full of badly delivered lines like "It is your destiny, not mine." We scratch the surface of Dastan and Tamina's chemistry, but not enough to really root for their romance or care about what happens to them. Yes, it's a cookie cutter superficial Summer blockbuster, but Prince of Persia could have gone so much further had it spent just a little more time getting the audience acquainted with the major players.

In the end, Prince of Persia is the kind of movie that's perfect for one-time use. If you end up seeing it, you just might be pleasantly surprised -but you're not missing out anything if you let it pass you by.

Pirates, Princes, and a Top Gun Celebrate Jerry Bruckheimer

The Mann Chinese Theater in LA was hopping with celebrities last night in attendance for three big Jerry Bruckheimer events. The afternoon kicked off with Jerry's Hollywood Walk of Fame dedication followed by the Prince of Persia premiere while his films Armageddon, Pirates of the Caribbean, and National Treasure simultaneously screened. Orlando Bloom spoke to the audience at the Pirates screening while Justin Bartha and Jon Voight shared their experiences with the National Treasure franchise. Stars from the present and past mingled during the events - Prince of Persia star Jake Gyllenhaal even posed with Top Gun legend Tom Cruise. The fun continued into the night when the party moved to the Hollywood & Highland Ballroom, where Jake hopefully showed off some of those famous dance moves.

Jake Gyllenhaal wore a polka-dot tie to triumphantly bring his Prince of Persia to LA last night. He was full of smiles and happy to sign autographs between posing with his beautiful costar Gemma Arterton. Jake has already been around the world with the movie including when they managed to premiere it in three cities in one evening. Jake also famously showed off his dance moves during his stop in Russia. Now, they're back in the states for one more big push before the May 27 release. Gemma kept things light by revealing her thoughts on Jake's kissing skills. The Grauman's Chinese Theatre red carpet wasn't just about the screening, however since Prince of Persia's producer Jerry Bruckheimer had his hand and footprint ceremony!

Tom Cruise also came out to honor Jerry, his Top Gun producer, who is simultaneously being celebrated with a series of star-studded screenings of his films this week. Nicolas Cage, Jon Voight, Ben Kingsley, and Billy Bob Thornton rounded out the group of guys. Tom is on his own promotional tour for Knight and Day starting with last week's Oprah so we'll be seeing a lot more of that famous grin over the next month.

Baron Cohen and Kingsley Join Scorsese's Latest Invention

Here's a sentence I thought I would never type: Sacha Baron Cohen is in talks for a Martin Scorsese film. The same man who brought us Bruno and Borat is reportedly joining the director's latest project, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, based on Brian Selznick's book about an orphan who resides in a Paris train station circa 1930.

Baron Cohen will step into the role of the station inspector, while Ben Kingsley is being cast as George Melies, a famous silent filmmaker with a pivotal role in the story. Also added: the two lead children, who will be played by Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas) and Chloe Moretz (500 Days of Summer).

I have full faith in Baron Cohen's skills as a more serious actor (anything is better than Bruno, right?), but I'm even more interested to see how the younger actors fare under Scorsese's tutelage. It's a kid-driven movie, so the youngins have some pretty big shoes to fill without Scorsese's usual muse, Leonardo DiCaprio.

Leo and Michelle Bring Their Movie to the Island of Manhattan

The stars of Shutter Island gathered in NYC last night for their first American premiere. Michelle Williams and Leonardo DiCaprio joined Martin Scorsese on the red carpet, as they promoted their film that follows in the tradition of mental hospital thrillers. The trio was also together last weekend for a screening in Berlin, and Leo made time afterwards to take his girlfriend Bar Refaeli out in Germany. Leo's talked about working with Martin in Parade and Esquire, and he was happy to speak more about their partnership. "He really gives actors ownership of their characters and almost finds the emotional narrative through the actors that he hires," Leo said. "That's so empowering and it makes you trust yourself as an actor and go places that you maybe, normally wouldn't."

Leonardo Has a Great Night and a Good Morning

The Shutter Island boys are together ahead of their film's premiere this evening, which comes on the heels of their weekend screening in Berlin. It looks like Bar traveled right alongside Leo, after the pair celebrated Valentine's Day together in Germany.
