Fall TV Preview: Big Day

OK so I will admit it, I'm a sucker for weddings. Even though mine was years ago, I still get excited about dresses, flowers, invitations, etc. If it's wedding related, I'm all over it. So when I heard about ABC's new show Big Day, which is set up sort of like 24 in that the entire season chronicles the events of a couple's wedding day hour by hour (but without the tick tock clock), I was instantly intrigued. The question is, how can a wedding day be anywhere near as suspense-ridden as a bomb that is about to blow up the country? Well, certainly an all-out brawl between mother and daughter regarding Caesar salad and a bitter older sister who sleeps with the best man is just as exciting to some of us as a threat to national security.

The all-star cast includes Marla Sokoloff (The Practice) as Alice, the Bride to Be, sitcom veteran Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me) as Jane, the Mother of the Bride and Kurt Fuller (Anger Management) as Steve, the Father of the Bride. The groom is super cute Josh Cooke (Four Kings). The writers of the show also wrote What Women Want and 13 Going on 30. I enjoyed the fun fast paced pilot episode and will definitely be tuning in to see where the rest of the season will go. We bet a lot of you must be asking what they will do next season after the couple is already married. Apparently the writers will plan to take us through other special family events like pregnancies, anniversaries or a graduation. Watch the first episode tonight at 9/8c on ABC.

The very idea of a wedding registry can feel uncomfortable - as if you're doing the shopping for your guests - and then there's the issue of where to register. Do you pick one store? Five stores? And, for that matter, which stores do you pick?

You may choose to go with an online registry site that allows you to choose any and all retailers, but if you're sticking with a more traditional route, then it's best to narrow down your picks. Not sure where to begin? Check out these quick etiquette tips to guide you through the process:

Be helpful, not greedy. Your registry is a great way to offer guests a wide range of gift options, but it's also important that you don't go overboard. In the Emily Post registry etiquette guidelines, Anna Post writes, "While it's OK to have more than one registry, draw the line at three. You want to be helpful by offering your guests variety, not self-indulgent by listing your every wish in the world." Don't be afraid to scan plenty of items at each store so that the registry isn't exhausted by the first 50 guests.
When in doubt, go big. One way to keep things simple? Choose larger stores with a broader assortment of items to cover your every need. For instance, if you'd like some new camping products, then try finding them at a big retailer like Target rather than a more specific, boutique sort of shop. Not only will it make the entire process easier for you, but it will also result in a shorter, less overwhelming list of stores for your friends and family to choose from. Even better? The larger chains have several locations, so your out-of-town guests will have plenty of options in their own city.
Consider pricing. Your guests are sure to have different budgets, and some will hope to spend more than others. Go ahead and register at that luxury outlet, but be sure to scan items at a more affordable store, too. Then, at each place, do what you can to include any and all price points - everything from that high-end knife set to those inexpensive dish towels.

The bottom line: No matter where or how you register, be sure to keep your guests in mind. The point of your wedding registry isn't to create your ultimate wish list; it's to offer options for your friends and family who hope to honor your big day with a thoughtful gift.

Katie later went on a break and met up with her daughter, Suri, to take a quick dip in a nearby pond. The actress hopped into the water in denim shorts and a striped tee before carrying Suri, who was wearing a cute ruffled swimsuit. The pair been spending time together in Kent while Tom Cruise preps to promote Rock of Ages. Over the holiday weekend, Katie and Suri were spotted taking a stroll through the tiny Northeast town.

On Feb. 6, Queen Elizabeth II marked 60 years on the throne. To commemorate the Diamond Jubilee, the royal family has traveled around the world on her behalf; Prince Harry enjoyed a successful royal tour in Central America and the Caribbean. The queen herself has been staying closer to home for the festivities. Today, Queen Elizabeth was joined by Kate Middleton, as well as Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, for a royal tea party at Buckingham Palace. The garden party was held ahead of this weekend's official Diamond Jubilee celebrations, which will take place for four days starting on Saturday.

Other events have included inspecting Gloriana, the new royal barge built for the Diamond Jubilee. The 86-year-old monarch held onto her hat as she and Prince Philip, 90, braved the wind and rain to visit the pier on the Thames to see the barge that will carry Queen Elizabeth and her husband down the river during the upcoming celebrations. She also headed to Manchester, England, where she even found time to crash a wedding! The couple had invited her royal highness, knowing she would be in town. A lady in waiting sent a letter declining their invite, but plans were in fact made for the queen to surprise them.

For the first official Diamond Jubilee event, the queen was joined by her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and Kate Middleton. In Leicester, Kate and the queen watched a fashion presentation, meeting up with Prince Philip later for a service at Leicester Cathedral and lunch. Queen Elizabeth really seems to be enjoying herself. You might not know it, but the queen has a laid-back side to her. Too Busy For Savasana? 4 Ways to Sink Into the Pose

While the end of a yoga class should be the pinnacle of relaxation, sometimes getting into Savasana (Corpse pose) can be a bigger stretch for your mind than any pretzel-like shape for your body. I'm a big believer that no matter what, you should stay quiet on your mat and not leave the room, but I know firsthand how tricky getting your mind to simply hang out can be in the beginning. Whether you have a consistent practice or you're a newbie to the final relaxation pose, here are four tips to take to your heart before you lie down and sink into Savasana.

Be comfortable: No need to rush into the pose - setting up properly is half the battle of Savasana. Pay attention to where your body needs a little extra love or attention. Let your feet fall to the sides of your mat. Let your chin slightly roll into your chest. Grab a blanket or a bolster to put under your knees if you want to take some pressure off your lower back. This is your time. Whatever feels good and relaxing for you, make it happen.
Focus on the spot between your eyes: In the beginning of my yoga journey, I knew that Savasana was supposed to be relaxing and fun, but I could not understand how everyone was just chilling out in a way that seemed so simple and easy. Focusing on your third eye may sound a little hippie-dippie for your taste, but if you're having a difficult time getting cozy, it's definitely worth a try! It wasn't until I made the simultaneous connection between my inhale and focusing on the spot in between my eyes that I was able to sink deep for the first time. It's my go-to move whenever my mind is racing.
