MLP, Alec, Whoopi, and Daniel Help Everything Come Up Tony

Radio City Music Hall was bursting with stars of the stage last night at the 2008 Tony Awards. The glitz and glamour were everywhere as some of the biggest names in Broadway came together to celebrate each other. Mary-Louise Parker was a highlight as usual, though I'm not sure what to say about the Counting Crows' Adam Duritz on her arm. Instead, I'll just get more excited that Weeds is back tonight! Alec Baldwin always looks dapper all dressed up, while Daniel Radcliffe made a surprise appearance before he makes his (naked) Broadway debut. Whoopi Goldberg - wearing Christian Siriano! - hosted the evening, helping hand out the biggest awards to In the Heights for best musical and August: Osage County for best play. Celebs Speak Out in Defense of Children

Reese and Keri lit up the house with their smiles at last night's Beating the Odds Dinner for the Childrens' Defense Fund. Both women are longtime supporters of the cause, which must mean even more to Keri now that she has a child of her own. They were joined by some of our favorite TV stars of past and present including Elisha Cuthbert, Lisa Kudrow and Sarah Chalke. After spending the week watching famous celebrity kids celebrating Halloween, it's wonderful to know that Hollywood comes out to advocate for less fortunate children as well.

Fall TV Preview: Studio 60

Studio 60 is one of the most anticipated new series this fall. The best part is that it marks the return of writer Aaron Sorkin (West Wing) and the always loveable, Matthew Perry (Friends). You probably already know that it is based on the behind the scenes look at a late-night sketch comedy, like SNL. Judd Hirsch kicks off the episode with a breakdown on live tv about how his show and television in general has lost its soul. This breakdown sets up why Perry and his partner, geeky-cute Bradley Whitford, come in to save the day. I love shows about TV and this one has the clever writing of West Wing but from the entertainment point of view which is much more fun than politics. Amanda Peet is the new network president looking to shake things up. She is supposedly pregnant in real life so it will be interesting to see how that works into the script. We'll definitely be watching to see where this show goes. It's on tonight at 10/9c on NBC.

Matt Perry and Aaron Sorkin laughed off drug jokes at the Television Critics Association conference where they were promoting Studio 60. Both are no strangers to drugs. Aaron was busted for cocaine in an airport and Matthew has been to rehab for a Vicodin addiction. The now sober duo are teaming up for NBC's highly anticipated new fall show also starring Amanda Peet and Bradley Whitford. Here's more from the panel as reported by People:

"I do think that television is a terribly influential part of this country," said Sorkin, writer and executive producer of NBC’s upcoming Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, when asked on Friday about the vacuousness of current reality-TV culture. "When things that are very mean-spirited and voyeuristic go on TV, I think it's (like) bad crack in the schoolyard."

As the audience of journalists erupted into laughter, Sorkin playfully asked, "Why did I use that word?"

Actor Bradley Whitford replied, "I have no clue."

At first, Sorkin simply added, "Everything is fine," but later joked, "I will go person to person giving each $100 if we can just get the crack quote out of the papers tomorrow.

"It's an expression that I meant nothing by. And with all the mental preparation I did for the panel that I was actually able to say that is beyond belief. It really is."

Later on, Studio 60 star Perry, never one to miss a clever quip, extended the joke with, "I think it's mostly like bad Vicodin in the schoolyard."

Celebrity Democrats Take Front Seat at the LA Debates

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton faced off at the Kodak Theater in LA last night at the final Democratic debate before Super Tuesday and some of Hollywood's most famous faces were front and center. Leonardo DiCaprio looked deep in thought deciding between the two Democratic candidates left in the race while Pierce Brosnan and Christina Applegate were happy to pose on the red (blue) carpet. Yes, you read that correctly, there was a red carpet at the debate. Quentin Tarantino and Kerry Washington engaged in a little post-debate schmoozing, no doubt discussing all the issues of the evening. Were you watching last night? Stars of Big and Small Screens Gather at EW Party

Some non-Oscar nominated TV stars got together last night with a few fabulous Oscar nominees to get ready for Sunday's big event! We're hoping since Joshua Jackson has been making his way around the Oscar party scene we'll get to see him walk the red carpet. Pretty Penelope is adorable as always, but looks like she made her way without her sister to last night's EW party, hosted by Antonio and Melanie Griffith. Rather than staying home to watch the 3 episode Grey's saga wrap up, some of the cast was out celebrating as well. Can't blame them though, this party looks like a blast!

NBC Fall Season Announced

We are still watching our favorite season finales but we have to switch gears to begin thinking about the networks new fall schedules. NBC announced theirs today and the big news is that both the Matthew Perry and Alec Baldwin have shows about the behind-the-scenes look at a late night program. These are by far the shows I am most interested in checking out. The sad news is Joey got the ax and Scrubs is once again on reserve like it was this year.

A brief look at the other new series:

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (fall): The previously announced star of the schedule that isn't football. In this hourlong drama, Friends alum Perry and West Wing alum Bradley Whitford play producers of Saturday Night Live, sorry, "a popular, late-night comedy show comedy sketch show."

Heroes (fall): "A high school cheerleader learns that she is totally indestructible." No one-trick pony, this hourlong drama about ordinary people discovering their inner Superman and Wonder Woman, also promises a stripper (Final Destination's Ali Larter) who "uncovers that her mirror has a secret."

Kidnapped (fall): Prison Break meets Dynasty in this hourlong thriller about the abduction of a teen-aged boy, and focusing on his well-to-do Manhattan family, his kidnappers and his would-be saviors in law enforcement. Best-case scenario for NBC: The show's a hit, and the kid doesn't go home for a very long time. Timothy Hutton and Dana Delany head the ensemble cast.

20 Good Years (fall): In this "high-energy romp" of a sitcom, John Lithow, 60, and Jeffrey Tambor, 61, play friends who optimistically estimate they have two solid decades left to change their lives.

30 Rock (fall): SNL head writer Tina Fey plays the head writer of SNL, sorry, "a frenetic television variety show." Frequent SNL guest host Alec Baldwin costars, as do SNL regulars current, Rachel Dratch, and past, Tracy Morgan. NBC said it was not known yet if Fey and Dratch will continue to work on the show that actually is called SNL.

America's Got Talent (January): Regis Philbin looks for new talent that presumably producer Simon Cowell isn't looking for on American Idol.

The Singles Table (midseason): Because no NBC schedule would be complete without at least one attempt to redo Friends, this half-hour comedy sees five "witty and single strangers" bond while consigned to the "singles table" at a wedding. John Cho (Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle) stars.

Cameron gives back

So where in the world is Cameron Diaz after the news breaks that she cheated on JT? She is at a charity event - cleansing her soul at the Reebok Human Rights Awards last night. Also at the event, Peter Gabriel, Kerry Washington, Bradley Whitford, Lucy Liu and more.

As an FYI, many bloggers are supporting Cameron or more importantly the producer she was accused of cheating with that this story is a sham. People feel bad because apparently he is a nice guy who is married with a kid.
