TRL Says Goodbye With JT, Diddy, Beyonce and More

TRL had its final moments last night with a show bringing back the biggest stars who ever stopped by the Times Square studio. Beyonce kicked it off with a performance that included the classic "Crazy in Love" but sadly no Jay-Z cameo. Carson Daly returned for the show, as did Diddy, who made the most appearances of any celebrity. Justin stopped by to make fun of his frosted tips while Kid Rock smoked his cigar all throughout his performance. Of course, the streets were crowded with one last group of screaming fans that got to watch Fall Out Boy (without Pete Wentz) perform to help complete the show. Even Jesse Camp stopped by with Wanna Be a VJ runner up David Holmes. After a little more than ten years on the air, they counted down its most crucial videos of its history ending with Britney's ". . .Baby One More Time" at No. 1. It was a fitting way to finish off as we all say one more goodbye to TRL.

It's All About the Hats at the Kentucky Derby

This Kentucky Derby was full of highs and lows this weekend as the usual slew of celebrities donned their finest hats and preppiest suits to catch the big race. Naturally Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were there and looking ridiculous and even Adrian Grenier cleaned up for the big day - well, kind of. Nick Lachey, his brother Drew and Joey Fatone hosted the after party and didn't look too emotionally scarred by having to see the runner up horse Eight Belles have to be euthanized on the track immediately after breaking both her ankles finishing the race. The crown belonged to Big Brown and despite the sad outcome for the filly, I'm sure there were more than a few mint juleps for everyone.

Stars Come Celebrate Seacrest for Details

Ryan Seacrest is a serious cover boy for the April issue of Details, but his big smile made up for it at the magazine's Mavericks 2008 party in LA last night. Small-screen stars Rainn Wilson and Kristin Cavallari came out for the event, and Lindsay Price got to celebrate the end of Lipstick Jungle for now. With all the drama, beauty and fun geekiness on last night's finale we can't wait for it to come back. Paula wasn't in the house, but Randy Jackson and Simon came out for their boy Ryan. Never one to pass up an opportunity to make a joke at Ryan's expense, Simon said, “Yeah, he looks good. A lot of airbrushing.” Sounds like someone might be a little jealous.

Sugar Bits - Jay-Z to Step Down From Def Jam

Carson Daly says that he decided to return to his late-night talk show earlier this month, despite the ongoing writers' strike, because he was given an ultimatum by his bosses to either resume filming or fire 75 people from his staff. New evidence in Brandy's car accident case suggests that the woman who died in the crash may have hit the car in front of her first, causing Brandy to swerve and hit the woman's car. The court has until the end of the day on Friday to decide whether to charge Brandy with vehicular manslaughter, after which the statute of limitations expires. Sounds like Brandy's 2008 may be getting off to a much better start than 2007. - TMZ

Carson & Ryan Not Competing to Replace Dick

Christmas is over and now it's time to turn our attention to the New Year. For many that means watching the ball drop in Times Square. Dick Clark has owned the night but now he shares it with youngins' like Ryan Seacrest and Carson Daly. However, Carson insists there's no rivalry between the boys to replace the superstar. Here's highlights:

"Dick Clark is a huge inspiration for the huge success he's achieved," Daly told the Los Angeles Times in a recent interview. "But that's where I stop. The world is changing. I'm young; I have my own thoughts as a producer. I'm not trying to keep his tradition. I'm trying to do my own."

Both Daly and Seacrest will return Sunday night as competitors in their second New Year's Eve as Clark, 77, continues to recover from a 2004 stroke.

Clark, a former host of American Bandstand, has reported on the madness in New York's Times Square for viewers nearly every year since 1972. Last year Seacrest, who hosts the popular television show American Idol, took over much of the broadcast for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, a three-and-a-half hour show broadcast on ABC. He returns in that role again this year.

Daly will host NBC's "New Year's Eve With Carson Daly," which starts at 11:30 p.m.

Last year's "Rockin' Eve" was Clark's first national TV appearance since his stroke. He plans to return for at least a small role again this year.

"He and I have a great relationship. Whatever he wants to do, whether he wants to do more or less than last year, I'll do it," Seacrest said.

At least the interview sparked enough headlines to remind us that Carson was going to be doing NBC's show.
