Britney, Diddy, Kim, Miranda, and More Honor Whitney Houston at Clive Davis's Pre-Grammy Party

Stars came out to attend Clive Davis's pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton in LA last night despite the tragic news of Whitney Houston's death yesterday afternoon. Clive, who started Whitney's career and remained close to the singer, asked that guests observe a moment of silence for Whitney during the event and shared, "She loved music and loved this night that celebrated music. Whitney would have asked that the music go on. And her family said the show should go on." Clive was just one of many celebrities who commented on Whitney's death yesterday, including Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey.

Britney Spears and her fiancé, Jason Trawick, got the annual celebration going, as did Kim Kardashian and Richard Branson, who was honored at the gala. Jennifer Lopez, Diana Ross, Tom Hanks, and others walked the carpet while Diddy, Miranda Lambert, Alicia Keys, and more took the stage during the event. The musical fun is just getting started since the main event, the Grammy Awards, will take place later today with Jennifer Hudson expected to sing a tribute to Whitney.

Jennifer Hudson made a show-stopping entrance in a fitted dress at the launch party for her new album, I Remember Me, at NYC's Tenjune last night. The bash wrapped up a long day for the singer, who was up early to make the morning show rounds. She stopped by Good Morning America to chat up her music and also show off baby David Jr. while he watched from behind the cameras. Her 2-and-a-half-year-old son has been by her side during her promotional tour, which happens to coincide with the current season of American Idol - fitting since Jennifer is one of many stars who got their start as a cast-off from the show.

Marie Claire covergirl Miley Cyrus cozied up to her pal and So Undercover costar Kelly Osbourne, while Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey stopped to share about their Valentine's Day plans with BuzzSugar. Jennifer Hudson took the stage with performers like Matthew Morrison, who opened up at the bash about the joys of kissing Gwyneth Paltrow on Glee. JT, John, Taylor and Rihanna All Come Out For Music and VEVO

Some of the biggest stars of the music world from all different genres came together in NYC last night to celebrate the launch of VEVO. Justin Timberlake posed with John Mayer, who recently shared his ideas on how to get away with secret texts. Taylor Swift posed in her LBD while Taylor Lautner was elsewhere in the city preparing to host SNL and releasing the first cute promo. Rihanna smiled big after a publicly trying year and perhaps could give some advice to Adam Lambert who has had his share of controversy, though he's been asked to perform on the finale of SYTYCD. Meanwhile, Nick and Mariah just looked smitten as usual.

There was also time for some performances during the party including Bono and Lady Gaga who was a little more toned down than when she met Queen Elizabeth in London the night before. John Mayer also took the stage and hugged Taylor Swift as his new album featuring a duet with the country starlet climbs the charts. Even up-and-comer Justin Bieber got in the fun, posing with Shania Twain. There were a bunch of congratulations to be handed out to the group, many of who were nominated for Grammys last week.

The Stars Prep Their Vocal Chords For the Grammys

Posh Celebrates Jennifer Hudson and Talks Haircuts

I spent a long time looking at the great fashion haircuts of the 90's and went to Garren, the master of those cuts, to create our modern interpretation of this look. I love it!" Do You Think Whitney Houston Can Make a Comeback?

Whitney Houston divorced Bobby Brown and has been parading around town with music mogul Clive Davis the last couple of months, so I've wondered if something like a comeback was a-brewin'. Whitney was once a beloved diva with a phenomenal voice, but then drugs and other problems began to sink her career.

Yet, now there's news of an album in the works, on track for a holiday-time release. Collaborating artists include will.i.am, Sean Garrett and Akon, who sounds all kinds of confident in her ability to generate hits again:

"The voice is there; I don't think anyone could ever take that from her. As long as we apply that voice to hit records, she'll be right back where she left off."

She's been out of it for so long, I wonder if she's still relevant. On the one hand, her older hits are still loved by a younger generation even though they've only known her to be a tragic figure. What do you think? Can Whitney Houston can top the charts again?
