Katie Holmes Welcomes Ice Cream-Eating Suri and DJ Connor Onto the Set of Her Shoot

Katie Holmes was busy on the LA set of a photo shoot yesterday. We had a look at the actress in an ab-bearing, cutout dress, and she also donned a black vest while her stepson, Connor Cruise, manned the DJ booth! Suri Cruise also stopped by to say hi to her mom after picking up an ice cream cone with a nanny. Connor reportedly paid tribute to the late Amy Winehouse by playing a few of her songs. Posing has been keeping Katie plenty busy lately, as she appears on the August covers of both InStyle and Vogue España.

Tom Cruise turned 49 yesterday, and to celebrate, his wife, Katie Holmes, threw him a surprise bash in Miami. Katie, along with their kids, Connor and Suri, threw Tom Cruise's birthday party on the roof of the city's Soho House. The family has been based at the lux hotel for the long weekend, with Katie and Suri seen entering on Friday and Connor spotted on Saturday. Yesterday, though, the foursome kicked things off with a swim. Tom Cruise went shirtless while Katie wore a black bikini, and Suri even had her face painted. They then moved inside for Tom Cruise's birthday meal, which included yummy treats like pasta, shrimp, more Italian dishes, as well as a special chocolate cake. Tom has been in Florida working on Rock of Ages. He's earned at least one fan in director Adam Shankman. Adam gave Tom an early birthday present by tweeting on Thursday, "I promise: Tom is brilliant in this movie. The hardest working actor I've ever worked with. You'll be blown away."

Producer Joel Silver gathered his famous friends in Malibu yesterday for a Memorial Day bash. Tom Cruise attended along with Katie Holmes, son Connor, and a high-heel-wearing Suri Cruise while Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale turned out with their sons Kingston and Zuma. Guy Ritchie rolled up with his pregnant girlfriend Jacqui Ainsley, who could talk parenthood with a likewise expecting January Jones. The Mad Men star was just in NYC, where she showed off her upcoming blockbuster X-Men: First Class. A fresh-from-Paris Diane Kruger soaked up the sun with boyfriend Joshua Jackson while the holiday provided a chance for Courteney Cox and David Arquette to reunite with their daughter Coco. Celebrity babies were lucky to run on the sand between bouncy castles, and Minnie Driver's son Henry took advantage alongside Jennifer Meyer and Tobey Maguire's Ruby and Otis.

Katie Holmes and Connor Cruise were by Tom Cruise's side last night as the actor picked up an award from the Wiesenthal Center at the Four Seasons Hotel in LA. Tom earned the Jewish human rights organization's humanitarian honor, and the distinction was earned due to his longtime support of their Museum of Tolerance in addition to work bringing Nazi atrocities to light. He was especially able to reveal WWII abuses in the film Valkyrie, playing a German soldier who attempted to assassinate Hitler. Tom had friends and business partners from movie projects of the past, present, and future on hand to wish him well. His old Jerry Maguire buddy, Cuba Gooding, Jr., turned out, along with his Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol friends like Jeremy Renner, who's actually taking over the MI franchise, and Paula Patton. J.J. Abrams, who wrote the script for the latest installment of the action series, was on hand to emcee the proceedings. Even Malin Akerman, who nabbed the lead in Tom's new film Rock of Ages, came out to show love for the superstar. Malin and Tom's other costar, Russell Brand, was off jet-skiing in Miami, though, and couldn't make it. Tom was touched about the prize and made a short speech from the stage. Tom Cruise said of his humanitarian award, "It's a tremendous honor. For me and my family this is really a very special evening and I look at what Simon Wiesenthal accomplished with his life, what this museum represents . . . Our challenge, ladies and gentlemen, is to make sure that we do all in our power to see to it that there will be no more Auschwitz Birkenaus, no more Rwandas, no more Darfurs on our planet. That our children and their children may be free to live in a world where men and women are judged by their accomplishments and deeds rather than by their race or religion."

The Staples Center in LA was jam-packed last night with A-listers in the front row - Tom Cruise took in the game with his son, Connor, while David Beckham sat not too far away with his oldest, Brooklyn. The old family friends met up during a break from play to say hi and shake hands before settling back in to watch as the home team beat the visiting Hornets. Tom's back in California after months spent up in Canada working on his next Mission Impossible movie, which his costar Simon Pegg promises will be awesome. David, meanwhile, focused on basketball during an evening off from hitting the field with the Galaxy. The Beckham and Cruise men had other celebs around to chat with, as January Jones was out to cheer on the squad as well as new couple Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens.

Tom Takes Suri Toy Shopping While Katie Gushes About Their Real-Life Romance

Tom Cruise continued his day out with Suri, Isabella, and Connor in NYC, taking the kids to FAO Schwarz this afternoon and showering his littlest one in kisses. Tom and his two older kids spent the morning entertaining Suri in Central Park while Katie promoted her new movie The Romantics. We were there for the film's press conference today, where Katie dished on the project, as well as on her real-life romance with Tom. She said:

On Tom's romantic side: "My husband has red roses for me everywhere I go."
On what drew her to The Romantics: "I really loved the script when I read it. It felt a lot like The Big Chill and St. Elmo's Fire and also a little bit of a John Hughes feeling, and I always loved those movies growing up. Then I met with [director Galt Niederhoffer] and I thought she was so smart, and the cast started coming together and just the feel of it, the look of it and the people that were involved in it was really exciting."
On being an executive producer: "Lots of cupcakes and coffee, that was really the extent of it! I was really flattered when I was able to have this position. I just tried to help when I could and sort of cheer people on. I actually used this time to learn even more from everyone, from the producers and the director, so it was really wonderful and I really appreciated that."

On her costars: "It was great to work with this wonderful cast and director. I was floored by the performances. These guys are such incredible actors. It was really inspiring every single day because you'd watch somebody else do a scene and you'd be like, 'OK, wow. I didn't know that was what it was about.' They brought something so different and wonderful. It was such a great time, I think that's why we all still hang out and we go to dinner often and we're a tight-knit group."
On being real with her friends and family: "When you have real friends, you can be your true self, and people love you for it. I think that's what feels good about watching this movie and what felt good being in this movie and portraying these people - people who are real and have their ups and downs and they have this family around them that has been through it all. And if you're lucky to have people like that in your life, it's wonderful."
On keeping a thick skin in Hollywood: "I think that you just never give up, you keep going because making films can be very challenging and you just have to keep pushing."
On theater: "I loved doing Broadway; it was so much fun. I loved the cast and the community was so wonderful and welcoming. I enjoyed every single night. I can't wait to go back to the theater soon."

Tom Cruise gave Suri a playful toss in the air at a playground in Central Park with Isabella and Connor today. Tom and his daughters were reunited in NYC this weekend after they arrived from Toronto, where Katie has been shooting The Kennedys. Katie is back in the States to promote The Romantics, and the whole family dropped her off for an appearance on Regis and Kelly this morning, where Katie once again talked up Suri's styling skills. Katie was then off to gush about Tom at an afternoon press conference with her cast of costars. Katie revealed her romantic husband, "has red roses for me everywhere I go and whenever we travel." Suri picked out purple flats for her fun-filled day and since NYFW starts in just a few days, perhaps the fashion-loving four-year-old will be able to partake in some of the excitement with mom.

Leonardo and Tom Have a Guys-Only Basketball Night Out

He often attends with his girlfriend, Bar Refaeli, but this time Leo was just with his guys. Tom Cruise, meanwhile, came with his son, Connor, and Jeffrey Katzenberg. It's been a social week for Tom and his Hollywood pals, after toasting the career of producer Jerry Bruckheimer on Tuesday night with a premiere of Prince of Persia and a party afterward. Katie Holmes skipped out on Tom's latest basketball outing, as she was busy practicing her moves at a dance class.
