Scarlett Is Happy to Get Political in CosmoGirl

Scarlett Johansson got dressed up in red, white and blue for the patriotic cover of November's CosmoGirl. The recently married actress has been a vocal and occasionally controversial Obama supporter, and she chatted with the magazine about her experiences on the campaign trail and what makes her happy. Here's more:

On campaigning at colleges: "It was amazing that these kids are just so well-informed and so interested. There were really obscure questions and debates that they wanted to lead - I couldn’t believe it! And it was amazing how many of these kids turned out. We made the environment friendly. I’m 23, and all of these kids are probably between 16 to 24. They’re my peers. . . we’re all connected by the same issues."
On what makes her happy: "Things that make me happy are being with my friends and family, and also things like a challenge - using my brain, you know? That makes me feel good. When I’m challenged and when I feel like I want to get to the bottom of something, when I’m engaged, that makes me happy. Being engaged in something or bettering myself in some way."

Scarlett's just one of the many celebrities to throw their two cents into the political ring, and while Obama is no longer the main man in her life, she's ready to do what she can to support him before Election Day on November 4th.

Jessica Alba Is Not a CosmoGirl, Not Yet a Woman

Mom-to-be Jessica Alba looks pretty fresh and young on the cover of February CosmoGIRL, wearing decidedly more natural make-up than her favorite Zac Efron. With promotion for The Eye kicking into high gear we should get ready to see that baby bump of hers not only going to and from the gym every day, but also on the red carpet and making the talk show circuit. But before that, you get to hear her talk about being self-educated and eating right. When she gets to doing more timely interviews, hope you're all excited to hear her gush a lot! That could get tedious, but at least maybe we'll get some answers about when we'll be seeing a wedding.

Ashlee Was Born to Lead Pete Back to Health

Ashlee Simpson went layered winter chic last night at the 2007 CosmoGirl Born to Lead Awards in NYC. Pete was there to support his December cover girl and even brought the rest of his band along for the party. The night before, Ashlee was by his side for his Angels and Kings Karaoke party, where he talked about how she's been helping him with his broken foot. He said, "When I'm being hard-headed and I don't want to elevate it, she says, 'No, put it on the pillow!' When I try to get in the shower by myself and am going to end up falling on the hotel room floor, she's good at stopping me." These two have come a long way in their relationship, we just hope he's as nice to her as she seems to be for him.

Lindsay and Ali Do CosmoGirl

Sister celebrities are making the magazine rounds. First Jessica and Ashlee did a spread in OK and now Lindsay and little sister Ali are opening up in the November issue of CosmoGIRL, as well as gracing the cover. And you can bet LL has lots of advice to give her little sis. “I’m very protective of her,” Lindsay says about her 12-year-old sister.” “I feel like I’m a mother to her in a way. She’s like my child.” Here's more highlights:

On showing Ali the ropes, Lindsay says:

“I think it’s important to let kids live and learn,” Lohan says.
“The more you shelter them from things, which my parents never did, the
more they go out and rebel. I never felt like I had to hide anything.”

And as far as men are concerned, LL says:

“Never take anything too seriously and just kind of go with it day by
day,” adds Lindsay. “And always have a few guys on the side as a
backup.”

Her main advice to Ali is “Life is short. Live fast!” I don't know if that's the best advice to give a twelve year-old, but to each her own. Let's hope though that Ali will wait awhile before keeping a few guys on the side as a backup! For more pics of the piece just read more

Jessica Alba Is Self-Taught

Jessica Alba's still not showing much of a baby bump, but it looks like she was feeling the effects of her pregnancy with her hand on her belly as she tried out a few different looks with some wigs for a photoshoot in LA yesterday. She's already started popping up on magazine covers to start promoting The Eye. In the February issue of CosmoGirl, Jessica talks about educating herself and preparing for roles, saying,

"I regret not going to college. Although honestly, I didn't have the time to go because I started working so young. The way I have gotten over that is to try to educate myself as much as possible. Instead of feeling sorry for myself that I didn't go to college, I read many different things that interest me, like books on science and philosophy. I also like to learn everything about the characters I play."

Jessica hasn't really played a lot of deep roles in the past, so we'll be interested to see how her research for The Eye pays off when the movie hits theaters in February.

Viva La Gossip Girl

Blake Lively and her on-screen mom Kelly Rowland hit the pink carpet at the Viva La Cure Benefit for Women's Cancer Research last night in NYC with other stars like Amanda Peet and Brooke Shields. Gossip Girl may be just getting started, but Blake is already feeling the effects of her newfound celebrity. As the November cover girl for CosmoGirl, Blake talked about getting up close and personal with some of Hollywood's finest. She said,

"It is a crazy and completely insane business. I'll go to an event wearing some designer gown and tens of thousands of dollars in jewels that were lent to me for the night, and I'll walk around and meet people who I always thought were such a big deal."

She even talks about Brad Pitt's poo. I can't wait to read the rest of the interview and see where it goes. As for getting to wear all those fabulous clothes on and off the set - sounds rough . Ugly Betty is Looking Good

America Ferrera was a Special Guest of Honor at a CosmoGirl Luncheon this week. She may be a little hard to recognize without her glasses and braces, but the star of the hit show Ugly Betty doesn't seem to mind. She's still able to leave the house unnoticed because her character looks so different than she does in real life. That might not last long since they've been nominated for two Golden Globes! Still, she isn't letting it all go to her head. Here's more:

"We've worked so hard, and now we can celebrate it together," Ferrera said. "It is a wonderful cast and crew and show to be on. Everyone is so excited."

Though some people were appalled by the show's title when it first came out, Ferrera's confident that viewers now get the message that "ugly" isn't meant to insult.

"I think we knew the title would be a little jarring. But once you see it, then you know," she said. "You get it. You know there's irony in the title and it's a commentary on the definition of what ugly and beautiful is."

The show makes it easy to empathize with Ferrera's character.

"It is very clear from the start that Betty is the hero," Ferrera said. "She's the one you're supposed to love and who is probably the most beautiful on the inside of everyone in the show."

It's so nice to have a show that can gently poke fun at beautiful people and have a heart at the same time. No wonder it's your new favorite show of the season! For more pics of America just read more

Hilary Duff and Joel Madden are at the CosmoGirl Annual Born To Lead Awards in NYC. I wonder if it bothered Joel that Hilary said she does not plan to marry young (like Jessica). She may regret that statement sometime soon.
