Charlie Wilson's War Goes All Black in NYC

Last night's NYC screening of Charlie Wilson's War was a formal affair with not a whole lot of color at all on the red carpet. Tom Hanks was there with one of his costars and fellow Golden Globe nominees, Philip Seymour Hoffman, but not Julia Roberts. While their leading lady wasn't around, a breakthrough redheaded actress with a gorgeous smile (and GG acting nominee) Amy Adams looked great in her LBD. Meanwhile, always love Steve Martin - even though my disdain for fedoras is no big secret he looks kinda awesome in his. Considering the recognition that Tom, Philip and Amy are getting for their roles this year, methinks we'll be seeing a lot of them in fancy wear as award season ramps up.

Dan Rather is suing CBS for $70 million! He is claiming they gave him innsuffient air time on 60 minutes as well as used him as a scapeoat after the controversial Bush National Guard story.- Reuters
In their ongoing custody battle, Denise Richards asked a judge yesterday to protect her children from Charlie Sheen based on his personal issues. Will these two ever handle their personal matters in private? - People

Blake and Penn Play With Shrek, Serena and Dan Hit the Prom

Blake Lively and Penn Badgley headed to Broadway over the weekend to check out Shrek: The Musical before posing with the famous green ogre himself. Last night, we got treated to a unique Gossip Girl. What could have been an awesome prom episode was overshadowed by Lily's potential spinoff - though many of you are interested in seeing more. As much as we enjoyed the '80s flashback, from the overdone hair and makeup to the old-school gadgets, we would rather have watched a whole episode of Dan, Serena, and the rest of the gang enjoying one of the most important nights of high school.

Johnny Depp Gets the Old Band Back Together

Johnny Depp took the stage in Pompano Beach, Florida last night, but rather than looking like an A-List actor, he rocked out with his old band, The Kids. This isn't the first time Johnny has reunited with the band for a good cause and last night they were out to honor their former manger, Sheila Witkin, with proceeds going to the Dan Marino Foundation. Have to love how much he's channeling the high school grunge garage band look with his plaid shirt around his waist as he sweated and jammed his way through the set. Vanessa Paradis and their daughter Lily Rose were in the audience to watch dad get back to his youth for a good cause. Pretty hot, right?

Owen Mower Races With Jessica, Hits Malibu Beach

Owen Wilson spent his Saturday afternoon on his favorite Malibu beach, enjoying his sanctuary before the fires really threatened the area. Prior to his afternoon of moped-ing and ocean, Owen spent some time on another non-traditional motorized vehicle last week. Owen, his brother Luke, Jessica Simpson and Dan Rather (hey random) all got together in Texas last week for a lawn-mower race in the name of Willie Nelson. Whitney Skips Grammys To Spend Time With Bobby?!

Whitney looked fantastic at Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy party, but when it came to the big night, she was surprisingly MIA at the actual show. Instead she and Bobby went out to dinner with Bobbi Christina at Dan Tana's in Beverly Hills. Now this could go one of two ways. Either Whitney and Bobby are getting back together, or they are playing nice for Bobbi Christina, which makes them seem like responsible and caring parents. While we loved watching the family in Being Bobby Brown, we would much rather see Whitney make an amazing comeback and we don't think that will happen if the two stay together.

PETA Calls Out Madonna for Wearing Fur

Madonna is no stranger to controversy, and as if she didn't have enough in her life right now she goes out wearing fur. It's tough enough wearing fur these days as a person who's not famous, what with people walking around just looking for someone to dump a red can of paint on. But when a celebrity does it, PETA gets involved and then watch out. Here's more:

Feisty animal rights group PETA is on the Material Girl’s case after Madonna was spotted wearing a chinchilla fur.

Although Madonna doesn’t eat meat, her spokeswoman confirmed that the fur was real, and it’s estimated to have cost $70,000.

“Wearing a coat made of dozens of small, gentle animals certainly got Madonna the attention she so desperately craves, PETA rep Dan Mathews told The Scoop. "But she’s setting a terrible example for her children, who are learning about selfishness and greed rather than compassion.”

Madonna doesn't really seem to care what PETA thinks, she chose to wear fur out on the town with Guy. I guess we know who's going to be on PETA's Worst-Dressed List next year! For more pics just read more

Half Nelson Tops Gotham Awards

The Gotham Awards sparked some controversy this year for allowing big studio backed films to compete with the low budget indies that the show usually recognizes. However, this did not keep the stars away and it looks like the indies still dominated the awards despite competition from The Departed. Half Nelson was the big winner of the night with best feature, breakthrough director and breakthrough actor (Go Ryan Gosling!). Babel also won for best ensemble cast. Everyone at this award show took things pretty seriously. Brittany Murphy seems to be the only one willing to play to the cameras. It's a good thing too because you know Sean Penn won't do it!
