Dita Von Teese Unveils Details of Her Fragrance

After working on her fragrance for a year, burlesque beauty Dita Von Teese is revealing details about it. Set to launch in Europe this October, the eponymous eau de parfum will arrive on US shelves in 2012. The scent will be a rich floral with peony, bergamot, and pepper top notes, a heart of rose and jasmine, and a musk and incense base; it's supposed to invoke the ideal "femme totale" Dita has envisioned.

The bottle, which has lots of vintage touches like a black silk tassel, vintage-style ball atomizer, and "nail polish red” pearl inset, was also a big part of the fragrance design for Dita. "I have always been a passionate collector of rare perfume bottles from the 1920s and 1930s," Dita said in a recent press statement. “My perfume’s flacons need to be the absolute embodiment of my dream of glamour, mystery, beauty, and the femme fatale."

Dita Von Teese has been having artificial nail company Kiss make her custom premanicured falsies for years, and starting this month she's actually selling them. So if you love her perfectly vintage half-moon manicure and gorgeous almond-shaped nails, now you can just buy them and glue them on yourself.

"I wanted to offer a shortcut to obtaining the nail style that I have been wearing for the last 20 years," Dita says. "If you look very, very closely, the most glamorous and iconic portraits of the 1930s and 1940s show the half-moon manicure. I think it was a way of showing that you had someone take the time to do your nails and perfectly paint the half-moon rather than doing them yourself."

The Dita Von Teese Nail Set by Kiss ($10) is a little more costly than most drugstore artificial nails, but for a party or a night out they'd be a glamorous option and much less expensive than going to a salon. They're available on Dita's website or at one of her shows, so if you're coveting them you can swipe some for yourself there.

In February news broke out that Dita Von Teese would be launching her first perfume. And while she has yet to reveal the name of the scent, we do know what the juice will not include. Dita recently revealed, "There's no fruity vanilla bullsh*t . . . A lot of celebrity fragrances are fruit, vanilla, and I wanted something for grown-up girls."

Gourmand-type scents aren't exactly my favorite either; give me anything that smells like cake or cookies, and I'll instantly feel ill. What about you? What types of fragrances and notes do you tend to avoid?

Katie Holmes and Gisele Bundchen shared a red carpet last night to celebrate the Beauty Culture exhibit, which opens tomorrow, at the Annenberg Space For Photography in LA. It's a collection of images from various photographers, including a snap of Gisele herself, designed to make viewers question the pursuit of beauty. More Hollywood stars came out for the event, including Halle Berry, Ali Larter, and Amber Heard. Supermodel Gisele wrote that she was home in LA after a quick trip to the Amazon, where she was able to do the environmental work that's close to her heart. She posted on her blog, "What a magical place the Amazon is, and so full of history and legends . . . I’m here, sharing my special experience and feelings so we can all think about it. We need and we want to develop, but not at the cost of damaging the planet." The visit was one of philanthropy and fashion, as there was a Gisele Bundchen bikini sighting in Sao Paolo when she took the runway for the Hope Valentine's Day special collection show last week. Katie, meanwhile, is back on the West Coast after a stop in Chicago to honor Oprah and a stint in Florida. She got some swimsuit time in as well when she hit the pool with daughter Suri at her Miami hotel, near where husband Tom Cruise has been working on Rock of Ages.

Dita Von Teese Is Working on Her Perfume

The rumors seem to be true: the glamorous Dita Von Teese is developing her own fragrance. While working in the French countryside with her perfumers, she tweeted about the process. Don't expect a fruity floral from the burlesque star, who counts Quelques Fleurs and Dior's Passage No. 4 as favorites. "No fruit, no vanilla, no candy," she insists. "Velvet sensuality with a dash of vulgarity! I want to evoke passion with fragrance: intense love/lust and distaste/fear rather than merely popular acceptance." No word on an official launch date, but if we had to guess, we'd predict late Fall or early 2012.

Audrina Patridge, Dita Von Teese, and Julianne Hough happily modeled their fiery gowns and busy mom-of-two Denise Richards put aside the drama affecting her personal life for a cause close to her heart.

Why Do People Still Find Cleavage Offensive in 2011?

Next Thursday, in CSI's "A Kiss Before Frying" episode, Dita Von Teese will star in three roles: a French grandmother, a schoolteacher, and that same teacher's burlesque alter ego, Rita Von Squeeze. Heh on the name, but what's not so funny is the fact that the bigwigs at CBS apparently deemed the star's assets too provocative. Dita told TV Guide, "There was a lot of network talk about my 'offensive cleavage,' which I found interesting considering how much blood and gore there is. We had to take it down a notch."

Uh, did they not realize voluptuousness and sexiness are two of Dita's most well-known qualities? And how shocking is it that a burlesque star who was hired to play a burlesque dancer might possibly show a little skin? The topic brings to mind the Katy Perry/Sesame Street debacle of 2010, where the songstress's bosom was deemed a bit too daring for the longtime children's show.

However, Sesame Street is a show for kids, and it's understandable that in-your-face cleavage might be a tad inappropriate for the preschool set. However, CSI is an adult show that airs well past the kiddies' bedtimes. It's also a show with plenty of grown-up topics, and I think we can all handle a few low-cut corsets thrown into the mix.
