The Dark Knight Falls on NYC

The long anticipated premiere of The Dark Knight finally arrived last night, and the stars dressed accordingly to the movie's title. Maggie Gyllenhaal, Blake Lively, and Lauren Conrad all looked gorgeous in muted tones, while Christian Bale continued to prove that he looks hot in any color. Of course, there was one very important star missing but Heath Ledger's family and friends like Naomi Watts were there in his place, while his castmates had plenty to say in tribute to the late actor. Christian said,

"Working with Heath was fantastic. He steals the movie and I'm quite happy to say that. He's a hell of a talent and created a joker that's very iconic and one that will become a classic portrayal of the ages."

While the film's premiere was a bittersweet event, the rave reviews will hopefully make The Dark Knight the box office smash hit that will help honor Heath's memory forever.

Mark Ruffalo Shows Off His Newborn Daughter

The adorable Mark Ruffalo took his new daughter, Odette, out for lunch with Ethan Hawke yesterday. There's nothing cuter than seeing a man proudly show off his bundled up baby of joy. While Mark doesn't look like he's lost much sleep over his newborn, poor Ethan looks like he has.

More good news for Mark. Even though Reservation Road turned out not to be a huge hit, you all voted Zodiac as best thriller of the year. You win some, you lose some, and it looks like Mark is ending the year on a big upside considering that cute grin he's sporting for the cameras.

Stars Get Into Some Devilish Behavior

Ethan Hawke, Marisa Tomei and Philip Seymour Hoffman hit the red carpet and after party to celebrate the premiere of their new movie Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. Seeing Marisa and Ethan feels like a blast from the past, but we've got to give them credit - Marisa's pocketed dress is fab and Ethan cleaned up well (finally). Sheryl Crow also stopped by to check out the movie before she hit the Keep a Child Alive Black Ball. The movie is a thriller about the aftermath of robbery that goes wrong. Sounds like it could be the perfect Halloween movie for those of us who aren't quite brave enough for 30 Days of Night.

Ethan Doesn't Want to Be Hot

Ever since his much publicized divorce from Uma, Ethan Hawke has chosen to take a page out of Matt Damon's book and avoid the spotlight as much as possible. He's working on a play right now called The Coast of Utopia. It's a nine-hour-trilogy set in 19th Century Russia. Not exactly the type of project that gets you on the cover of magazines. And that's exactly how Ethan wants it. Here's highlights from this Sunday's issue of PARADE magazine:

On his looks:
“I’ve never wanted to be too hot, I don’t know how Brad Pitt does it.”
On fame:
“To be honest, it was an undue pressure on my marriage. I didn’t like being famous when I was single, and what it did to my celebrity status to be married to another famous person was a huge pressure-one I didn’t enjoy. And it had nothing to do with her. Nothing to do with her."
On Uma:
“She’s a great mother, and raising the kids is a priority for both of us. We’re so fortunate that we have each other’s back in that way. Because I write and act in theater, it’s a lot easier for me to stay in the city. But my ex-wife has done a phenomenal job of that as well. She plans all her movies to shoot in New York.”
On NY:
Hawke says that New York City is a great place to be divorced. “We live down the street from each other. If we lived down the street from each other in Minneapolis, I’d have to watch every car go in and out of the driveway. I’d know how late she stayed out. I don’t have to know any of that stuff.”

Sounds like Ethan is doing just fine. We still love him from those Reality Bites days with Winona. Too bad that was over a decade ago. At least he's found happiness in the theater and as a writer - it's important for actors to have other interests and Ethan definitely has those.

We love seeing celebs do normal things like us. It's not always about partying at Hyde and shopping non-stop. We also love a little variety every once in a while and we feel as though Ethan Hawke has been MIA. Ever since he split from Uma we hear and see a lot less of the actor. Ethan is currently on the big screen in Fast Food Nation. It looks cold out there.

Rachel McAdams Brightens Up the TIFF

It was another day of red carpets at the Toronto Film Festival, and this time there were a few new stars to add to the mix. Rachel McAdams was a welcome - but sadly date-free - fresh face at the premiere of Che, as was Emmanuelle Chriqui in her cute LBD. Mark Ruffalo and Adrien Brody goofed around while Rachel Weisz looked gorgeous in her bandage dress as the trio kept on promoting The Brothers Bloom. Paris and Benji were happy to pose together there as expected to check out a screening of Paris, Not France, the documentary which features both members of the happy couple.
