Gwyneth Paltrow got some of her best Big Apple girlfriends together last night for Good Housekeeping's Shine On Awards, which honored the achievements of powerful women. The actress was there to salute the work and raise awareness around maternal health done by Christy Turlington Burns, and they shared the evening with other ladies like Meryl Streep, Rebecca Romijn, and new mom Ali Larter. Gwyneth, who was on the cover of the magazine's February issue, has been busy with her return to Glee, which airs next week, and promoting her latest publication - she hosted a dinner for friends like Cameron Diaz, Jay-Z, and Mario Batali on Monday to toast her new cookbook My Father's Daughter. She was on hand yesterday to congratulate others, but Gwyneth took a minute to discuss the long hours she spends maintaining her awesome figure. Gwyneth said on the red carpet, "The reason that I can be 38 and have two kids and wear a bikini is because I work my [expletive] ass off. It's not an accident. It's not luck, it's not fairy dust, it's not good genes. It's killing myself for an hour and a half five days a week, but what I get out of it is relative to what I put into it. That's what I try to do in all areas of my life."

Drew and Her Derby Girls Whip It Good

Drew Barrymore cozied up with Eve, Juliette Lewis, and Ellen Page last night as they celebrated their film Whip It! at a derby event in LA. Ms. Barrymore has been busy promoting her directorial debut, doing everything from talking about her estranged mother to kissing Ellen Page and hosting SNL. Drew apparently also wanted to act in the movie so that she could be in the trenches with the rest of the female cast, and it looks like they've all come away from the project with a few great girlfriends. Eve on Whipping Herself Into Shape

Are you excited for the roller derby romp Whip It? I know I sure am. Hip-hop artist Eve skates her way through the film, and she spoke recently with Women's Health about developing a dependence on Tiger Balm, her relationship with her trainer, and keeping her "booty in order."

The actors participated in a three-week skate camp to prepare for their roller derby role. About the camp Eve said, "I used a lot of Tiger Balm. I felt like an 80-year-old woman."

In addition to skate camps, Eve works with a trainer, who even checks up on her when she's on the road since working out while traveling is not her forte. Eve explained their relationship like this, "Working with trainer is intimate, [as it is with] a hairdresser."

For her fitness regimen, Eve is not a weight machine gal.

"We don’t do a lot of weights, but we do a lot of push-ups, crunches, and squats - exercises that let me use my own body weight. We work out in a private gym, but we’re about to start incorporating outdoor things into my routine. I can’t wait, because I love being outside."

Not hung up on unrealistic goals, the singer wants to be fit. Now that she's 30, she has become a bit more body conscious. Her reasons for working out go like this:

"I’m not trying to be super skinny. I want to keep my booty in order. When you’re 23, you can lose five pounds in a week because your metabolism is fast. I don’t want to do unhealthy things to lose weight fast for, say, a photo shoot. I do want to feel amazing in my clothes, though."

Phillip Lim's LA Store Turns One

Designer Phillip Lim's West Hollywood store - 631 N. Robertson Blvd. to be exact - has been in business for exactly a year. Congrats! To celebrate, Vogue threw Lim a bash at his boutique last night. Considering how much starlets love his designs, it's no surprise the guest list was star-studded. Rachel Bilson, Kristen Bell, Molly Sims, Shenae Grimes, Leona Lewis, and Rachel Zoe all came out to wish the designer a happy one-year anniversary.
