Ryan Gosling met up with Gary Oldman for lunch in LA this week. In the past, Ryan has cited Gary as one of his all time favorite actors so it must be nice to dine with an idol. Gosling's a commendable actor himself and has been spending more time than ever in LA recently enjoying life as an eligible bachelor.

The Dark Knight Falls on NYC

The long anticipated premiere of The Dark Knight finally arrived last night, and the stars dressed accordingly to the movie's title. Maggie Gyllenhaal, Blake Lively, and Lauren Conrad all looked gorgeous in muted tones, while Christian Bale continued to prove that he looks hot in any color. Of course, there was one very important star missing but Heath Ledger's family and friends like Naomi Watts were there in his place, while his castmates had plenty to say in tribute to the late actor. Christian said,

"Working with Heath was fantastic. He steals the movie and I'm quite happy to say that. He's a hell of a talent and created a joker that's very iconic and one that will become a classic portrayal of the ages."

While the film's premiere was a bittersweet event, the rave reviews will hopefully make The Dark Knight the box office smash hit that will help honor Heath's memory forever.

For Now, Christian Bale Is Just a Man

A skinny Christian Bale walked around the set of The Fighter yesterday in Boston. He's lost weight for his role as a drug addicted boxer, which is quite the contrast to his beefed-up costar Mark Wahlberg. Christian will have a reason to put the pounds back on if he reprises his role in the next Batman movie, which is apparently set to start filming next year.

SAG Awards Let Actors Like Tina, Kate & Sean Mingle and Win

It was a big celebratory dinner party for Hollywood's finest last night as actors of TV and movies came together for the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Both the women and the men brought some excitement on the red carpet, but when they got inside it was all about mingling between awards. Brad and Angelina stayed in their seats other than when he was presenting Button as an ensemble cast nominee, but kept the smiles big for whenever the cameras panned their way. They were in better spirits than the red carpet at least. Penelope Cruz snuggled up to Meryl Streep who walked away with a statue while John Krasinski hung out with Josh Brolin and Steve Carell - let us know what you think about the winners here.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler posed together. An emotional Gary Oldman accepted the award on behalf of Heath Ledger who earned another win. Otherwise, Katie Holmes looked fantastic presenting her award and we're always happy to see Mad Men recognized. In that same vein, yay for Slumdog Millionaire, which was the night's big winner, which bodes well for next month's Oscars.

Heath's Friends Weigh In on His Life One Year Later

It's hard to believe almost a year has gone by since Heath Ledger's tragic passing, but next Thursday will be the one-year anniversary of his death. He's already been honored with a few posthumous awards, including a Golden Globe, and with Oscar nominations less than a week away, the buzz around Heath's performance in The Dark Knight is as loud as ever. To continue honoring and celebrating his memory, Entertainment Weekly made Heath its cover story with quotes and highlights about his life from the people that worked closely with the actor and grew to know and love him over the years. Here are a few highlights from the touching article:

Gil Junger, director, 10 Things I Hate About You: "Heath came in to read, and he exuded a sexuality so uncommon for a man of that age. As soon as he left, I stood up and said, 'Ladies, I have never wanted to sleep with a man, but if I had to, that would be the man. Please hire him immediately.'"
Todd Black, producer, A Knight's Tale: "Heath was the pied piper. If you were sad, he took care of you. If you were happy, he made you happier just by dancing or talking or laughing. Fear didn't enter his psyche. He would say whatever was on his mind. If he didn't like you, you would know it, and if he liked you, you would know it."

But any concerns that one may have had vanished when you got on the set with him. I did a couple of scenes with Heath in the first leg of the shoot in London. I called a friend and he said, 'How's Heath?' I said, 'He's breathtaking. He's going to be astounding.' I could tell just working for five minutes with him."
Pecorini: "He was so solid into keeping clean, it was quite stunning. I really think he died of a broken heart. I know it can sound very romantic, but it's very tragic. I think that's what killed him."
Steve Alexander, his CAA Agent: "We were making these incredible plans about what was next, career-wise. The day after he died, he was going to meet Steven Spielberg to explore the idea of playing Tom Hayden in a movie about the Chicago 7. This wasn't a guy who was even for a second thinking about checking out in any way, shape, or form. There's a moment in The Dark Knight when Heath's hanging upside down and he says to Batman, 'You and I are destined to do this forever.' It's a very sad moment. A sequel certainly would have happened. I cringe when I read that he was a tortured soul or a Method actor who couldn't get out of his own way because he'd played this dark character. It's just not true."
Oldman: "If Heath does get an Oscar nomination, I can just picture him up there, looking down and going, F---!"

From Gay Cowboy to Batman Villain

Jake Gyllenhaal may join the Batman cast as the villain character Two-Face. I'd love to see him in a comic book movie.

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN star JAKE GYLLENHAAL is being touted as Gotham City district attorney HARVEY DENT in the next BATMAN sequel, along with PAUL BETTANY, who may play the JOKER.

Gyllenhaal would play Gotham City's good-guy lawyer, who mutates into his alter-ego, TWO-FACE, in the third film.

In the sequel, BATMAN would team with Harvey Dent to destroy the Joker, according to moviehole.net.

TOMMY LEE JONES formerly played Dent/Two-Face on the big screen in BATMAN + ROBIN.

Director CHRIS NOLAN is set to return, along with CHRISTIAN BALE, KATIE HOLMES, GARY OLDMAN and MICHAEL CAINE.
