Watch Britney's Gimme More Video Now!

We didn't think we'd get to see Brit's latest video until next week but it looks like she couldn't wait to get it out there. It's certainly a great distraction from all the bad parenting press she's been receiving. We knew about the raunchy outfit and long dark hair but we didn't know about the clever lighting and camera tricks which almost make Britney come across as still somewhat sexy. Then there's that innocent part, a la an alter ego, where she wears a blonde wig. The song is definitely a hit and we're betting the video will also get a lot of on-air play. Now this is more like it! The few leaked songs that were supposedly Brit's big comeback were not the real thing but now we finally have the new song and the question is, Is Britney Back? The song will definitely make you want to get on the dance floor and make you wonder what it will be like to watch her perform it in that old school Britney way.

Now that the songs are out there, could we be getting a surprise appearance at the VMAs? We'd love to hope so since we'd much rather be writing posts like this one than about custody battles.

Britney Spears mixed it up with her nightlife (but not her footwear) hitting up a Southland Addiction Cosmetics party in Newport Harbor last night. It looks like she finally caught wind of the pirate trend! Other than the costume-y belt - looking pretty good, right? To be fair, she totally flashed her underwear to the paparazzi a few times, but at least there was underwear there. She's finally got something to celebrate, too. Gimme More is both the #1 song download and ringtone download on iTunes after only being released there this week! In blah Britney news, her ex bodyguard isn't done telling his story to everyone who will listen - last night he went on Larry King Live to tell his story again (check out the video after the jump). Ben Debuts His Documentary While Jen and Violet Head Home

Jennifer Garner continued her weekday routine of picking up Violet from preschool yesterday, except this time they wore a few more layers than usual. While they went about their business, Ben Affleck was off at the UN headquarters in NYC debuting a documentary short he recently filmed in the Congo called "Gimme Shelter," which you can check out in its entirety. It's the latest project in Ben's efforts to draw attention to the country's ongoing humanitarian crisis, and hopefully it brings him and the people of the Congo some success.

Brit's First Sleepover With Boys & Second VMA Comeback?

Britney Spears dined at Sur on Friday before her first sleepover with the boys on Saturday and Sunday short shorts. She didn't have any smiles, but hopefully she's not letting the failed day of custody talks with Kevin and impending trial date get her down. We'll see how that plays out, but Britney's life is a far cry from what it was a year ago. Rumor has it, however, one thing might bring us all a little déjà vu - the president of MTV said that he would be open to giving Britney another shot at this year's VMAs. He semi-joked, "Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?" Yikes. While the sentiment is nice, thinking back on last year's "Gimme More" debacle is still painful to watch. If for some reason Britney decides to give the VMAs another go already - she is back in the studio after all - fingers crossed she'd be more prepared this time.

Paris Is a Regular Vegas Entertainer

The Paris Hilton party train was chugging right along last night, and this time it was for the launch of her 2008 clothing collection at LAX in Las Vegas. Paris got up close and personal with her own likeness before providing her guests with some entertainment. She showed off her signature dance moves and grabbed the microphone long enough to belt out a few of her own songs followed by a little lip-synching session that included "Gimme More." Lauren Conrad was a little too distracted by Brody Jenner to enjoy Paris's one-woman show. Apparently the exes kept it casual and didn't spend much time together, but it looks to us like they're still a pretty close-knit pair.

Britney's Piece of Me - Love It or Leave It?

We were teased the other day with Brit's new hot video and now we have "Piece of Me" in its entirety. It's definitely a major improvement although still not the old Britney. This video is clearly a step up from Gimme More and the creative concept is so much better this time around although anything is better than strip pole dancing. That's right people! It looks like Britney's new album is leaking leaking leaking online and here are 4 more tracks to enjoy. They are all just as catchy as Gimme More, which I was certainly dancing away to this weekend. I always had a glimmer of hope that Britney was going to make a comeback and here's more evidence that she can do it if she really tries. Between stop overs in Vegas and car rides with her boys and their toys, Britney is going to have to figure out a way to make it all work but it will be interesting to see her perform again soon.

Britney's Lawyer Bails Amidst More Sticky Rumors

Britney didn't make any surprise appearance at last night's Emmys, but she's still in the headlines. Another day in the Britney/Kevin custody battle. After rumors that Kevin's side would present a damaging new "secret witness", Britney's lawyer Laura Wasser has reportedly decided to jump ship. It's no surprise that Britney is difficult to deal with and probably doesn't listen much to advice, plus this isn't the first time that Wasser has threatened to leave. Hopefully her new lawyer is up for the challenge.

Wasser will probably be happy that she decided to leave when she did, because the other big rumor about Britney this morning is more than a little unpleasant. The UK's The Sun is reporting that Brit has been banned from the Chateau Marmont for her bizarre behavior. Most notably they're saying that one night she disrupted diners in the hotel's restaurant by "smearing" food on her face. Ew, ew. Hopefully that's a total exaggeration.

Also sadly for Britney, Gimme More isn't doing so well on the radio. Her new single was apparently picking up steam, but has dropped in spins since her VMA performance last week. Maybe it's time for some more of that new music?
