Scarlett Johansson Talks Love, Marriage and Music in Glamour

Scarlett Johansson joined musical collaborator Pete Yorn for a photo shoot in November's Glamour, which hits newsstands on October 6. You guys are loving the music they've created, but Scarlett opened up about more than their songs - she also discussed her one year of marriage with Ryan Reynolds and addressed a recent body image controversy. Here's more:

On body image: "There was this rumor mill cranking out stories that I had lost 14 pounds - I could never lose 14 pounds. . . I hate seeing these ridiculous articles where [tabloids] guess someone’s weight. . . I can’t look at somebody who is 6 feet tall and 120 pounds and say, I’m going to get that body. That’s just never going to happen. You have to work with what you’ve got."
On getting married: "I never really thought about getting married - it just kind of happened. It seemed natural, the right thing to do. It was kind of a celebration of the time. . . I think the only difference is that I’m kind of making my own little family now, which is funny. It’s like a little bit of a tribe. You hope that a relationship makes you better, that you learn things about yourself. You’ve had this one view, and now you have another view. I feel more confident to explore things within myself that I hadn’t thought about in the past. . . My parents divorced when I was 13, so it was not the ideal representation of marriage."
On making an album with Pete Yorn: "I’ve known him for a while. I’ve worked with both of his brothers, who are in the entertainment industry. One day Pete texted me out of the blue saying, 'Hey, do you want to record an album?' I was like, 'Whoa, that’s a weird message.' But I said, 'Sure-why not?'"

Jessica Simpson Still Loves Tony, Though They're Not Together

Jessica Simpson is on the cover of September's Glamour, and inside the magazine she opens up all about her past loves and her optimism for the future. The interview was conducted before her split from Tony, but Jess addresses the fact their relationship might not make it to the print date. While she's promoting her lingerie line again, she also discussed her new show The Price of Beauty. She said:

On her life experiences: "I don’t regret anything I’ve gone through. All of them have defined me as a person. If anything, I believe they were preparing me for the one I’m going to spend the rest of my life with."
On Tony: "I don’t know what the future holds, but I hope that my life, as it is now, doesn’t change. I’m very happy and comfortable - it’s a great place to be in. If this article comes out and we’re not together, I’d still love him, and he’d still be a huge part of who I am today."
On remarriage: "It was hard to imagine I would ever walk down the aisle again. It was like a death in the family: you go through the mourning stage, then the rebellion, and then all of a sudden you have to find life by yourself. Once you do that, you feel complete - and that’s the only time you can truly fall in love again, and give yourself over completely to another person. . . I loved everything about marriage. I loved having a companion to wake up with and have barbecues with. But things happen and people grow apart. I don’t really ever talk about the divorce because it was a heart-wrenching thing to go through. It’s a very, very personal thing."

Lindsay, America, and More Give Us a History Lesson

A handful of Hollywood's rising stars got all dressed up to portray American icons over seven decades for the April issue of Glamour. Emma Roberts looks cute as a button doing her best Audrey Hepburn, while America Ferrera goes more political as Dolores Huerta. Lindsay Lohan is an unmistakable Madonna during her "Like a Virgin" MTV VMA performance. Imitating the Queen of Pop comes easily to LL, who said, "When I was little, every day after school I would come home and put in her The Immaculate Collection disc and karaoke to it around the whole house." All the ladies look gorgeous, right down to Alicia Keys as one of our newest icons, Michelle Obama - check out the full set here.

A Glamourous Katie Holmes Is Not Pregnant

Katie Holmes posed for a naughty and nice photo shoot in the 70th anniversary April issue of Glamour magazine. She opens up about Tom Cruise, Suri, and how she deals with all of the media attention. She also denied any pregnancy rumors, and seems very happy with her cozy family. Here are some highlights:

On being a mom: "Well, becoming a mother has been the most amazing experience-in an instant you become strong. You have to be a little bit wiser; it’s the most important job in the world. Of course [the responsibility scared me.] During the first couple of days [with Suri], we would just sleep right next to her to make sure she was breathing. And I was constantly learning on the job, but Tom was very helpful and supportive."
On press about Suri: "Some of the stuff [people said] was such absolutely horrible things to say about a child. It was so uncalled for and so disgusting. Enough is enough. Yes, [Tom told me not to worry]. We were changing diapers. He said, 'I don’t want you to get upset.' And I said, 'Well, I am upset.' So we approached it together. But I definitely felt like-as a woman, as the mother of Suri-I want to handle this! My mom is very strong, and if anyone ever said anything about any of us, she would be, 'Excuse me? That’s my family!'"
On their typical family life: "We’re all together. We like to be together, so we use the house for our [business] meetings. [We] play Yahtzee, board games, Scrabble. We grill; have pool parties. We play 'The Three Little Pigs' and Suri is the Big Bad Wolf. [Tom] reads storybooks to Suri, and we all laugh. When a good song comes on, he’ll break out in a dance. We’ll watch movies in bed-recently Madagascar and Cinderella, for Suri. We really have a good time."

On what Tom is really like: "He loves women; he was raised with sisters. He’s strong and intelligent and very, very funny. For my thirtieth birthday he couldn’t be in New York [where she was doing her play]. So he organized the whole audience at that show to sing “Happy Birthday” to me, and then he had a cake rolled out on the stage. But he’s not a dreamer-he just does it. He’ll say, “I think I like that movie,” and the next day, “I’m going to make that movie!”
On always knowing she would marry Tom: "When Top Gun came out, my sisters were like, 'Oh, my God, Top Gun! Tom Cruise!' And I very confidently said, 'I’m going to marry him one day.' It wasn’t like, How do I get to Tom Cruise? It was just: I think I’m going to marry him. Why not? He’ll like me. I’m fun."
On her work: "I want to do it all. Bad girl, good girl, complicated girl. Aren’t we all complicated? And I like all different genres: comedies, dramas, action, musicals. I’m taking jazz and ballet lessons."

Katie seems confident in her relationships and happy with her family life and we can't complain either since we love seeing her out with Tom and adorable little Suri.

Christina's Max Has Only Made Her That Much Stronger

Six months after becoming a mom to Max, Christina Aguilera is ready to get back to work on new projects. Last week she talked to Larry King about getting political, but she's also got an album and another perfume in the works. In the August issue of Glamour magazine, Christina dishes on life since Max came along and what we can expect from her now. Here are highlights:

On her new album: "I just started recording it, but I can tell you that this record is all about fun. I'll be referencing Pop Art, Andy Warhol's art. So it will [sound] fun and fast-paced, and visually, it will be full of color, which is how it's going to tie in with my new fragrance, Inspire [in stores next month]."
On whether or not being a mom influences her music: "Absolutely--my little boy breathes new life into me. That's one of the reasons I decided to go in a playful direction with this album. I've spoken openly about the domestic violence I experienced growing up."
On her relationship with Jordan as new parents: "It's brought us closer--we're bonded together for life. Relationships and great marriages are a whole learning and growing process. We're just great teammates."

On how she and Jordan keep things romantic: "We make sure we have Mommy and Daddy nights out. On how her relationship with her own mother has changed now that she has a baby: "It's given me a deeper understanding of the things she went through. She had a difficult childhood, and I think she wanted to make sure [I didn't go through that]--[yet] she ended up marrying an abuser. My mom was so giving, almost too much, that she almost forgot about herself many times. So I'm careful to make time for myself. Rather than change who I am for Max, I bring the life lessons I've learned to the table."

Sounds like Christina is ready to return to the music scene and we have a feeling being a mommy will be part of her latest reinvention of herself.

Salma Gets Up Close and Personal with Glamour

Salma Hayek is never afraid to speak her mind and April's Glamour is no exception. The fiercely independent actress and producer reveals some interesting info about her personal life like how she momentarily wished for a son and is perfectly content to live in a different continent than her fiancé. Here's more:

On wanting a boy: "Well, I have to confess something - I wanted a boy. . . At the beginning I did. Probably because I was afraid. I think women suffer a bit more than boys, and there is always conflict between mothers and daughters. But now that she’s here, I’m so happy she’s a girl. And I can’t imagine there ever being conflict between us, because I’m in a state of innocence where I love everything she does. If she does a poop and I have to change the diaper, I love that moment!"
On living in LA while Francois-Henri lives in Paris: "To most women it’s crazy. But every relationship is unique, and in order to make it work you have to be willing to listen - not only to your partner, but to the relationship itself. You have to be brave enough to say, 'This is who we are: We might not look like the perfect couple, or like our parents did, but this is our love story.'"

On not spending all her time with Francois-Henri: "Wishing is a good thing. But wishing you could be together more is so much better than wishing you could get the hell away from someone. [Laughs.] François is very generous in his respect for me: He not only gets out of my way, but he’s completely supportive. He pushes me in the right direction. He challenges me with a sense of humor. I feel lucky to have found a man who is so smart and successful in his own right, so there is no competition between us. He understands I was happy and had a great life before I met him."
On getting married: "Right now I am just enjoying my baby. Do I think we are going to get married? Probably. Will it make a difference? I hope not. I don’t have a need for marriage. You want to grow old with someone, you want to have a partner and to have children-we have all those things. Some people need the commitment. Maybe we’ll just make the party!"
On Francois-Henri's relationship with Valentina: "He warned me from the beginning that he gets very nervous when babies are so little-he thinks he’s going to break them! But he plays with her, sleeps with her, loves her, kisses her. He’s not obsessed like me. But he’s had two before!"
On how Valentina has changed her life: "I don’t remember very well who I was before. Part of me feels like it’s so new and so strange to have a baby, and part of me feels like I’ve known [her] face forever. Somehow I am really relaxed within the chaos of having a baby-and anyone who’s a mother knows it’s very hard to relax, because there is so much to do and worry about! I just feel so fortunate to be her mother, and it makes me excited about the rest of my life, because I will get to witness her transformation every day. I feel I was born to have this girl."

Even though Salma has an unconventional relationship with her man, it's pretty clear that she and Francois-Henri have formed an adorable family of three. We're big fans of moms gushing over their daughters, so as long as Salma's happy, we are too.

Naomi Gets Glamourous to Talk Boys and Babies

Naomi Watts got all done up for this month's issue of Glamour. On top of modeling a chic Chanel number, she was surprisingly open about her romance with Liev and the trials of being a new mom at the age of 39. We know she's excited to give little Alexander a sibling, but my favorite part may be hearing how when she met her man she was the one doing the picking-up. Here's more:

How she met Liev: Friends had been trying to hook us up for years, but the timing was never right. Then I ran into him at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute gala [in 2005], and we spent the whole night talking and flirting. At some point I thought, This night’s going to end and I might never see him again. So I said, in a cheeky way, “Don’t you want my digits?” I can’t tell you why; in the past, I would never have done that. If I was even remotely interested in a guy, I would ask for his number first. That way, I could find out more about him on my terms. Literally, within seconds after [Liev] left, he texted me his number. I think he liked that I was a bit aggressive.
On working around her family: So far, we’ve been quite lucky: We’re coming up on three years together and we’ve only spent three weeks apart at the most. All throughout the pregnancy, Liev was here doing a play, and once the baby was born, we all went to Lithuania while he filmed Defiance.

On becoming a mother at a later age: Well, for one thing, picking him up off of the ground 20 times is different when you hear your knees cracking! [Laughs.] Having a child later in life is interesting. From an intellectual point of view, you’ve had a lot of time to do research and figure out how you want to raise him. But there is also something to be said about having a child in your early twenties, when you’re just operating on instinct. My mother had my brother and me when she was 19 and 20. Obviously we’re the best things that happened to her, but she had plans and dreams she never got to fulfill. So I don’t have that feeling of, what am I giving up?
On getting what you want in life: My personal belief is that you can’t want it too badly-and I mean that for everything in life. In my early years of auditioning, I wanted [success] so badly, I ended up pushing it away. You can make people feel uncomfortable if you give off an air of desperation. I’ve got female friends who are great catches: They look great and they have successful careers. Men should be rugby-tackling them to the ground! But it can be hard for a woman in her late thirties, because men tend to think she wants a baby right away. At the same time, there are great men out there who are really impressed by a woman who knows what she wants. And that’s what I found.
On aging gracefully: I’d better start thinking about it. From what I’ve heard, everyone feels fine in their thirties, even to age 39, and then that day comes, and it’s like, bam! I do get surprised when I catch myself in mirrors: It’s like, God, my face is really that of a 39-year-old’s! But I hope to age gracefully.

I love how refreshingly frank she seems. And while it's probably not such a challenge to age gracefully when you look like Naomi, it seems like her new role as a mom will suit her for a while to come.

Lindsay Lohan Gets Real for Glamour

Lindsay Lohan doesn't have many movie deals in her near future, but she can still hold her own as a cover girl. She went sexy in a little red dress for the March issue of Glamour UK, and in the article she gives us the same story we've heard before about being different after rehab, but she still admits that she's a sucker for those clubs. Here are highlights:

On her old crowd: "There are friends that have been hard to hang out with because they've gone done a different path. But it's hard because I'm the kind of person who wants to trust everyone."
On filling up her free time: "I'm fine being alone during the day, but I hate being alone at night. I like having friends around me, but now I'd much rather be at home. That's not to say I'll never go to a club again, because I'd be lying."
On the biggest misconception about her: "That I don't have my head in the right place. That, and probably that I'm not a good person ... because actually I am."

Lindsay has seemed to calm down since her time in rehab but admitting that she still wants to hit the clubs and the latest rumors are not the most reassuring factors in the world. Hopefully the starlet can stick to being a good person and resist falling back in with the wrong crowds.

Reese Is Glamorous in the United Kingdom

Reese graces the February cover of British Glamour looking a lot more like her cute sunshiney self than she did for Marie Claire a few weeks ago. Her adorable smirk is more than enough to sell magazines, which is a good thing because in the article she talks about how she'll never take her clothes off for a photoshoot. Reese also talks about how she keeps a level-head in Hollywood, and how her Oscar has opened doors for her. Here are highlights:

On using nudity to promote films: "If [actresses] take their clothes off, they objectify themselves. I am flabbergasted by how many legitimate actresses do it."

On tinsel town: "Hollywood is one of those endless competitions. It's a race towards nothing. I just want to be the best version of myself that I can be."
On the roles she picks: "I would never have been offered these kind of roles. There was also a lot of pressure after [winning an Oscar]. People wanted me to do a really big movie and I just wanted to do something more sort of personal and real."

And this is why this A-list actress continues to be such a good role model for young starlets in addition to being a great one for Ava and Deacon.
