Hilary Duff was back in some quirky outfits (think she has enough bracelets?) on the set of Greta. At least she got to stay dry this time around and playing with computers is always a good time. In the movie, Hilary plays a waitress who falls in love with one of the cooks at her restaurant and has to explain his criminal record to her disapproving grandparents. Sounds like a teenage love story we've all heard before, but hopefully Hilary can add something new into the mix.

Hilary Hits The Beach but Hides Her Bikini Body

After spending the summer on tour, Hilary got back to her acting roots on the set of Greta yesterday. Shooting on location at the beach seems like a pretty nice deal, and who doesn't love a nice dip in the ocean with your clothes on every now and then? Even though we know she is in super shape, apparently the scene called for clothes. It sounds like this movie is going to be different from Hilary's usual bubble gum repertoire, but you guys think she'll be great, and we're definitely interested in seeing her expand her horizons. Besides, Duff has been a great role model so we're all for supporting her as she tries new things.

What Do You Think About Hilary Duff as an Actress?

Today there came news that Hilary Duff will be starring in an "indie teen romance" titled Greta. The story revolves around "a young waitress who embarks on a romance with an ambitious chef (Evan Ross). Her grandparents (Ellen Burstyn and Michael Murphy) have their concerns about the boy's criminal past."

As Zap2It points out, Duff's previous credits include Material Girls, Cheaper by the Dozen, The Perfect Man and Raise Your Voice, not to mention, of course "Lizzie McGuire." This Greta project seems like a bit of a departure from her fluffy kid stuff and I wonder how she'll do with the material.

Orlando Bloom to Romance, Dump Greta Gerwig

Here's a couple I wasn't expecting to see as an onscreen pair: Orlando Bloom and Greta Gerwig are set to star in romantic comedy Lola Versus. Gerwig will play a woman whose fiancé (Bloom) dumps her right before their wedding, and she then embarks on an attempt to figure out who she is as a single woman before she reaches 30.

Zoe Lister Jones and Daryl Wein cowrote the screenplay, and are the same pair who wrote and starred in the bittersweet indie Breaking Upwards. Jones will also costar while Wein will direct.

Gerwig broke out in last year's indie Greenberg, but between Arthur and this new project, it sounds like she's ready to stick around the romantic comedy realm. With costars like Russell Brand and Orlando Bloom, I can't say I blame her.

The cast of Arthur matched in muted hues at their NYC premiere last night. Jennifer wore Oscar de la Renta and was coming straight from Letterman while her girls enjoyed the California sunshine with Grandma Affleck. On the red carpet she talked about being nervous when filming atop a huge horse and says she hopes she doesn't disappoint fans when she takes on the role of Miss Marple - check out PopSugar Rush for more from Jennifer! Russell Brand revealed that there may not be truth to his Rock of Ages casting rumors, since he would like to be able to spend more time with wife Katy Perry. She couldn't join Russell for the premiere, though she did tweet her support from Scotland where she performed last night. Similar to his character, Russell told us falling in love made him grow up, but last night it was all about his female costars. He gushed about Helen Mirren, who, along with the rest of her costars including Greta Gerwig also got lots praise from director Jason Winer during Buzz's sit-down interview. Today Jennifer is stopping by Regis and Kelly as well as Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to promote their movie ahead of its Friday release.

Arthur: More Fun the Second Time Around

Jason Winer's Arthur is a remake of a 1981 film starring Dudley Moore, but how you feel about the original (or even if you haven't seen it at all) won't have much effect on your enjoyment of the 2011 version. In this fresh take, Brand plays Arthur, a filthy rich heir who never grew up because he never had to. Arthur spends the majority of his days and nights wasting his millions on whatever and whomever he sees fit, pretending he's Batman, and drinking as much Maker's Mark as is humanly possible. With his nanny Hobson (Helen Mirren) there to clean up all of his messes, Arthur has no reason to abandon his carefree lifestyle and settle down.

When his mother hands him an ultimatum, Arthur is forced to make the first adult decision of his life: he can either marry Susan (Jennifer Garner), a tightly wound business executive whom Arthur has no romantic interest in, or he can lose his entire fortune and find out how the other half lives. The situation is made more complicated when Arthur falls head over heels for Naomi (Greta Gerwig), a girl from Queens who works as a tour guide of Manhattan and has big dreams of becoming an author.

Brand is known for playing outlandish characters like Forgetting Sarah Marshall's Aldous Snow, and he doesn't stray too far outside the realm in Arthur. As he gallivants around town in top hats and powder blue suits, his Arthur is yet another hard-partying character with a quick wit and enough one-liners to put Ricky Gervais to shame. The difference is that Brand brings a certain child-like innocence to Arthur that not only gives him depth, but makes him endearing as well. Arthur is a silly (and self-serving) character through and through, but with Brand's charm, you can't help but root for him and enjoy being part of his hijinks.

read more. Brand has a worthy partner in crime in Helen Mirren. Hobson's acid tongue is the perfect counterpart to Arthur's wacky antics, and the banter between Mirren and Brand is like an exercise in perfected British humor. Their chemistry isn't limited to swapping jabs either; there's a true connection between these two that translates to the tender scenes between them, and ultimately legitimizes the film's underlying themes of family, love, and loneliness. Garner breaks out of her typical girl-next-door role as Susan, and watching her desperately try to sink her claws into Arthur is a refreshing change of pace for the actress. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Gerwig, who's essentially swallowed up by her more domineering costars and fails to really bring Naomi and Arthur's romance to fruition. Brand works just fine as a one-man show, but his scenes with Gerwig eventually drag down the entire film. Director Winer tries just a little too hard to pack an emotional punch into Arthur, which can be hard to swallow when you're dealing with a cast of caricatures. It's mindless fun to come along for a ride in Arthur's Batmobile, and though there are some bumps in the road, you'll still laugh along the way.
