James Franco joined Gus Van Sant and screenwriter Dustin Lance Black yesterday to pose for photos as they promote Milk in London. Their film doesn't open in the UK until next Friday, but the Brits seem to be loving it already. The movie just picked up multiple BAFTA nominations, including nods for Best Film and Best Original Screenplay.

The 2009 award season officially kicked off in NYC last night with some of the faces we'll be seeing a lot of over the next few months. Penelope Cruz and Sean Penn were among the winners at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. Josh Brolin also won an acting award for Milk and shared the love with his costar on the red carpet.

The Milk premiere brought out Hollywood actors, political figures and the movie's real life inspirations in SF last night. Sean Penn walked the red carpet with Robin by his side but skipped chatting with reporters to greet fans. TR Knight and his boyfriend came to support the film along with the stars of the movie including Josh Brolin, Diego Luna, Alison Pill and happy to return to his home James Franco.

- Michael Jackson has moved into a house in Las Vegas where he plans to make his comeback with a live show on the strip. Wonder if he'll be partying with Britney this New Year's - US Weekly
- (Good Will Hunting) director Gus Van Sant was arrested Thursday for a DUI. A breathalyzer test revealed he was driving with twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The Palm Springs International Film Festival kicked off last night with their awards gala attended by some of the most acclaimed stars of the year. They screened Dustin Hoffman's new movie Last Chance Harvey and honored Hoffman, Sean Penn, and the cast of Revolutionary Road among others. Thankfully a sun-kissed from Cabo Leo made the trek to represent his movie.

The 2009 Oscar nominees got to mix and mingle with their competition at the annual luncheon thrown in their honor in Beverly Hills earlier today. Brad and Angelina sat this one out, but Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, Robert Downey Jr., and lots of others were happy to come out and pose in front of the the big golden statue. Anne Hathaway revealed that her big date to the event will be her dad, and she is even hoping to score extra tickets for her mother and brother.

This weekend award season kept on rolling and this time it was all about the directors. Slumdog Millionaire continued its winning streak as Danny Boyle received the night's top honor for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film at the Directors Guild Awards in LA. This honor helps the movie secure its Oscar worthy odds in a few weeks.

This weekend I went to see The Bourne Ultimatum and based on the lines we can expect big box office sales for the Damon flick. The movie is getting fabulous reviews and we couldn't agree more. Matt is obviously our favorite boy of summer, so we we're psyched to see he landed the cover of EW this weekend in all of his sexy, sweaty action star glory.

Movie award season kicked off last night in NYC with the 2008 Gotham Awards. We should get used to seeing some of these winners names and some of these familiar faces when the New Year comes along and Award Season really gets rolling, but for now the group took the red carpet to start honoring each other. While Frozen River took home the top honors, Michelle Williams and Penelope Cruz both had reasons to smile.
