Les Misérables Trailer: Dreaming Dreams With Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman

Earlier this week, we were excited about the photos of the new film adaption of Les Misérables, but the new teaser trailer gives us a peek at Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried, and Russell Crowe in heartbreaking action. Hathaway, as Fantine, belts out a soft rendition of one of the musical's most famous songs, "I Dreamed a Dream," while we get glimpses of the other characters and some of the crucial scenes in the movie, like the shearing of Fantine's long locks. It's particularly chilling to see Fantine both before and after she becomes poverty-stricken.

Though I'm dying to hear some of the other actors' pipes in action (particular Crowe's), I have to say that Hathaway does a pretty solid job. Hopefully, the next trailers will give more variety, but this one is intriguing enough to hold me over until then. The movie doesn't hit theaters until Dec. 14, but you can check out the new trailer after the jump.

The newest film adaptation of Les Misérables doesn't come out until Christmas, but the wait for the first glimpses of the film is much shorter. With the teaser due later this week, today we've got the first official stills from the film, which stars Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, and Russell Crowe - just to name a few. As a huge fan of the musical, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing some footage from this film. These first pictures look just right, though I'm not completely sold on Seyfried as Cosette just yet. Take a look!

Robert Pattinson celebrated his 26th birthday at Claridge's hotel in London last night. He played host to friends like Hugh Jackman and a pregnant Sienna Miller. It was back to the city for Robert after he spent the weekend with Kristen Stewart in the English countryside, where she was busy with press duties for Snow White and the Huntsman. The duo stayed together at the Bailiffscourt Hotel in West Sussex, England, a spot just 15 minutes from Kristen's work duties at Arundel Castle. The last week has been extrabusy for Kristen. She jetted to Paris for a round of interviews on behalf of her new movie, which is out on June 1, before moving on to the UK.

A Short-Haired Anne Hathaway Sings With Hugh Jackman on the Les Misérables Set

Anne Hathaway was in character as Fantine as she shot Les Misérables with Hugh Jackman in London yesterday. The pair are teaming up on the big-screen adaptation of the Broadway hit, which required them both to undergo physical transformations. Anne cut her hair into a choppy pixie cut, while Hugh has previously been seen sporting a bushy beard and a buzz cut as Jean Valjean on the set. Yesterday, however, he had a head full of gray-tinged curls as he and Anne sang from the rooftops. Between takes, Anne bundled up in a parka and shared a few laughs with her costar. Les Misérables boasts several boldfaced names, including Hugh, Anne, and Sacha Baron-Cohen, but it was stage actress and Hollywood newcomer Samantha Banks who landed the role of Epione. The part was a hotly contested one, with Taylor Swift and Lea Michele both said to be in the running during the casting process.

The stars of Les Misérables are getting into character on the London set, with Hugh Jackman sporting the threadbare look of Jean Valjean, while Russell Crowe's Inspector Javert looks ready to get down to some police business, and Eddie Redmayne takes aim as Marius. We have some more photos from the set, and though the movie-musical also stars Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried, we'll have to wait to get a glimpse of the rest of the cast. The pictures are only piquing my intrigue in this movie, which we'll have to wait for until December. What do you think of these photos from the set?

Hugh Jackman Joins His Barefoot Wife and Son For a Family Football Game

Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness played a game of touch football with their son Oscar and a friend in NYC yesterday. Hugh sprinted across the grass while Deborra got in on the action barefoot. Their daughter Ava and dog Mochi, who is one of many star pets we're celebrating for National Pet Day, weren't along for the fun afternoon.

Hugh is back in the Big Apple after spending time on the set of Les Misérables in London, where he got into character as Jean Valjean. His costar Russell Crowe also reported to work, but we haven't seen Anne Hathaway or Amanda Seyfried in front of the cameras yet. Anne is prepping for her role though, since she was spotted with a buzz cut during a date night with fiancé Adam Shulman over the weekend.

Hugh Jackman Celebrates His Birthday With the Queen of England

Hugh Jackman arrived at London's Buckingham Palace tonight dressed in a suit and tie for a face-to-face meet and greet with the Queen of England. Elle Macpherson joined Hugh and other popular Australians at the reception hosted by her majesty. Hugh was beaming ear to ear all night long, and it may be that he's still basking in the success of Real Steel's first-place finish at the box office over the weekend. His robocentric family flick took home first place with $27.3 million, beating out George Clooney and Ryan Gosling's political drama The Ides of March. In addition to the film's success, Hugh also celebrated his 43rd birthday yesterday. The date proved to be twice as meaningful this year as Hugh also launched a new company, Laughing Man, on the date. The philanthropic brand sells fair trade coffee, tea, chocolates, and gear and will donate 100 percent of its profits to charity.
