Madonna Shows Off Her Labor of Love With Guy by Her Side

Madonna made a splash in her sparkly sequined Chanel gown at the premiere of I Am Because We Are at the Cannes Film Festival today. Guy Ritchie was even there to walk the red carpet with her in her sky-high heels. Sharon Stone posed with her friend to gear up for her amfAR charity event Thursday night. This isn't the first festival for Madonna's documentary about Malawi, but Cannes was a special honor for her. She said, "It's an incredible opportunity for me to be able to show this film in Cannes. To say that this film is a labor of love is trivial. It's also the journey of a lifetime. I hope you all are as inspired watching it as I was making it." Madonna may have her hand in many projects, but it sounds like this is one that she put her whole heart into as well.

Madonna Shows Us Her Softer Side, Too

Madonna looked earthy and pretty at last night's Tribeca Film Festival premiere of the documentary she produced on Malawi, I Am Because We Are. She was joined by her longtime friend Rosie O'Donnell, but as usual these days there was no Guy by her side. After her big night, Madonna has only a few short days until the highly anticipated release of Hard Candy on Tuesday (can't wait!). If you're as antsy as we are to hear the whole thing, you can check it out all weekend on her MySpace page. Between these two projects it's quite the week for the queen of pop - not that anything could wear Madonna out.

Cameron Premieres Her Box and Opens Up About Life

Cameron Diaz and James Marsden hit the red carpet together in NYC last night at the premiere of their movie The Box. It hits theaters this weekend, though the buzz has been pretty quiet for the scary looking film with its chic '70s interiors. Cameron has been busy up in Boston filming Knight and Day with Tom Cruise, but she took a break to talk to Parade about her new film. Here are highlights:

On life and being confident: "I don't have to prove anything to anybody. I know who I am. I have my own sense of myself. And the things that I do, I do for myself and to challenge myself and to have my own experience. I'm in a completely different place in my life now and I'm very comfortable where I'm at. I'm looking forward to the future. I'm looking forward to this afternoon and tomorrow and the next day and a month from now."
On being self-deprecating: "I don't think that self-deprecation is healthy for people. I think you should have a healthy relationship with yourself. We all have our up days and our down days. But I'm not going to walk through this world hating myself because somebody doesn't like me or doesn't think I'm pretty or that I should be ashamed that people think that I'm pretty. How am I going to live my life trying to figure out what everybody else feels about me? All I can do is know how I feel about myself."
On heartbreak: "Oftentimes, the way that we learn is to have our heart broken. As many times as we fall in love, our heart gets broken. But heartbreak is always a part of life, from not making a team in your favorite sport to your parents having a fight. Life is full of ups and downs. You can't know happiness without sadness and vice versa. The great thing about getting older is you become wiser and you gain knowledge and you grow. There's nothing wrong with that. That's a wonderful thing."

Winona Shares A Lot About Her Private Life

Winona Ryder sat down for a photo shoot and chatted about her life in the latest issue of BlackBook magazine. She has a film, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee to promote, but Winona had plenty of other things to discuss. Winona talked about a variety of topics, from her famous exes like Matt Damon and Johnny Depp to her feelings about Angelina Jolie winning the Oscar for Girl, Interrupted. Here's more:

On dating Johnny Depp: "Things changed for me when I met Johnny. This weird thing happens when you’re written about in magazines, where you start to think, 'This is who I am. This is how I have to be.' I felt restricted and pressured into being the way people perceived me. It was hard for me to find my footing. The Johnny thing made me really afraid of the press because, even though it was about him, I was beside him the entire time."
On her relationship with Matt Damon: "Matt couldn’t be a greater, nicer guy. I’m really lucky that I’m on good terms with him. . . With Johnny, it’s like we’re good, but we lead very different lives. I was out at a bar with a friend who said, 'Do you realize that in America you’re never going to be able to meet a guy who knows nothing about you? Everyone will have preconceived ideas about who you are.' I got so bummed out. I’d never really thought about it that way."
On knowing Angelina Jolie since Girl, Interrupted: "I never had any bad feelings about Angelina. . . And I was hurt that people thought that. Everyone assumed I was really jealous because I thought this would be my vehicle. . . We said from the very beginning that the actress who played Lisa would probably win an Oscar, because it was the big, great, showy part. But I always related to Susanna. I fought very hard for her to have that part, and I never really felt like I got the chance to know her."

Michelle Williams graces the cover of Vogue's October issue, opening up about Heath Ledger for her first magazine interview since his death. The actress looks gorgeous as she promotes her pushed-back Shutter Island and provides us an in-depth look at how she and Matilda are dealing with their life after Heath's passing. She reveals she is no longer dating Spike Jonze, but sounds like she's staying strong as a single parent. Here's more:

On dealing with Heath's death: "I have been severely accident-prone over the past 12 months. I fell downstairs, broke a toe, put my fingers in a blender - seriously distracted. [I would often] cry, nap, sit and stare, try to figure out what to make [Matilda] for dinner, talk to friends on the phone. I was holding it together by a string and a paper clip in the Fall and Winter. I didn’t know if I could keep it all together."
On grieving with Matilda: "I just don’t see the upside to this. You console yourself by saying it’s all a deepening process. But it’s weird. After the first year, the pain is less intense; it’s less immediate. But the magical thinking goes away, too. And that’s a whole new reckoning. But every time I really miss him and wonder where he’s gone, I just look at her."
On splitting with Spike Jonze: "The timing was impossible. I thought falling in love again was the only thing that was going to save me from the pain. This erroneous idea: it just makes things more complicated."

I was in love; I was in a movie I was proud to be a part of, and with a beautiful brand-new baby. Everything was good in that moment. [After we split I started filming a movie in Sweden because] I just didn’t want to be at home. Geography is a great solution for heartbreak."
On waiting so long before she started to do interviews: "I didn’t know what my boundaries were for a long time, which made interviews feel very unsafe. I can talk about grief, because that’s mine; about single parenting; about trying to balance work and kids. But what I don’t have to talk about is what happened between Heath and me in our relationship."
On dating while having a daughter: "I obviously don’t know how to [date with a child, but] I’m falling more and more in love with her and I think she deserves the bulk of my attention. We’re lucky. I can work. She can go to a good school. There’s a lot there for her. And she can know her dad in so many ways, and so many of his friends who will be able to tell her so many stories. His friends, his family - they were a big part of his life, and they will be a big part of her life."
On her future: "I feel hopeful and grateful. For a while I thought we had lost everything. It makes you want to love better and live better and treat people better.There is a great Gloria Steinem quote - and I’m paraphrasing - ‘Become the man you want to marry.’ I’ve taken that on. What qualities do I find attractive, and can I find them in myself? What am I missing? Can I be that for myself?"

Rachel, Brad, and Eric Look Heavenly at Time Traveler's Wife

Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana got a special visit from their executive producer, Brad Pitt, at the premiere of The Time Traveler's Wife in NYC last night. The actress showed off some skin in her dress and was without a date amid rumors things are over with Josh Lucas. Rachel recently compared life as an actor to the film saying, "Actors are gypsies and we're constantly going in and out of our lives and jumping into others. As a person who travels a lot, I hope that the person I am with would be patient with me, because that's the nature of my life." Fresh off traveling cross-country, Brad was also decked out in white - the opposite of his and Angelina's black-on-black at Monday night's big premiere of Inglourious Basterds in LA. Only Eric had his partner by his side, wife Rebecca Gleeson, at the screening and afterparty.

Jessica Simpson Still Loves Tony, Though They're Not Together

Jessica Simpson is on the cover of September's Glamour, and inside the magazine she opens up all about her past loves and her optimism for the future. The interview was conducted before her split from Tony, but Jess addresses the fact their relationship might not make it to the print date. While she's promoting her lingerie line again, she also discussed her new show The Price of Beauty. She said:

On her life experiences: "I don’t regret anything I’ve gone through. All of them have defined me as a person. If anything, I believe they were preparing me for the one I’m going to spend the rest of my life with."
On Tony: "I don’t know what the future holds, but I hope that my life, as it is now, doesn’t change. I’m very happy and comfortable - it’s a great place to be in. If this article comes out and we’re not together, I’d still love him, and he’d still be a huge part of who I am today."
On remarriage: "It was hard to imagine I would ever walk down the aisle again. It was like a death in the family: you go through the mourning stage, then the rebellion, and then all of a sudden you have to find life by yourself. Once you do that, you feel complete - and that’s the only time you can truly fall in love again, and give yourself over completely to another person. . . I loved everything about marriage. I loved having a companion to wake up with and have barbecues with. But things happen and people grow apart. I don’t really ever talk about the divorce because it was a heart-wrenching thing to go through. It’s a very, very personal thing."

On the constant speculation about her weight: "I've heard, 'Oh, she's toned and she's lost weight,' but I am exactly the same as I've always been. The one thing that had to go during awards season was exercise. People would say to me, 'Oh, come on ...' like I was lying about it! Some may find it hard to believe it, but I don't care about that stuff."

"Adoptive Mother" Gisele Shops With Her Sports Guys

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady did a little grocery shopping together on Tuesday, and yesterday they brought his son John for an afternoon at a Niketown in LA. They continue to spend lots of special time with him, and she opened up about her happy new life as a wife and mom during a recent interview at Sao Paolo Fashion Week. She said:

On being a mom: "I am crazy about children . . . I am an adoptive mother . . . I've already had this experience for two years."
On marrying Tom: "I think I've met the right person, my partner, my companion . . . I already knew that we would get married a year and a half before we got married. We felt it. The heart spoke louder."
On her new priorities: "When the heart speaks, priorities change. Before . . . I had to go out, had to work. Now I think about it twice, three times, four times. So I only do the things that I really want to do. I prefer to stay at home. The big husband wins. Because of this relationship, what is most important to me is the family. Now I am creating my other family."
