Jessica Changes Things Up

The cast of The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer headed to London for another premiere. Jessica Alba outshone her male co-stars on the blue carpet with help from a gorgeous gold gown. Alba's been talking quite a lot lately about being taken more seriously as an actress. In a recent interview with IGN she elaborates when asked if she's tired of being in fantastical blockbusters and if she'll be back for more. Here's more:

"Yeah, definitely. Not burnt out. That's not the way to put it. No, I love these movies. It's just completely different, you know? I try to change it up as much as possible. I did a physical comedy before I did Fantastic Four -- Good Luck Chuck -- that is coming out in August, and that was so very different to this movie or The Eye. So it's really just about changing it up and trying to get the best material for that genre that I could get."

Clearly she's had no problem finding work. Jessica will have plenty of chances to show off her acting skills in all these upcoming movies.

The Silver Surfer Flies Down Under

Jessica Alba and her comic book costars headed to Australia to promote Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer this week. They first stopped off at Fox Studios for a 20 minute preview of the unfinished film and then headed over to Will and Toby's for an after-party. Jessica managed to get in a wardrobe change in between the two events and looks fabulous in both of them of course! In the sequel the four go up against a surfboard riding entity that destroys planets in 8 days. It sounds kind of silly but you know, in that cool comic book way. BAFTA Stars Share Thoughts Over a Spot of Tea

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts held its traditional tea party at The Four Seasons in Beverly Hills on Sunday. Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet, Toni Collette and Emily Blunt were just some of the stars who came out to sip on tea and nosh some English favorites like fish and chips wrapped in newspaper and cucumber finger sandwiches. The party-goers were in good spirits and willing to chat. Here's highlights:

Kate Winslet called the many awards-season events "fantastic. I try and stay calm and keep my shoulders back."
Fantastic Four's Ioan Gruffudd was on the lookout for Winslet, with whom he (kind of) co-starred nearly a decade ago in Titanic. "I was the one with the flashlight pulling her onto the lifeboat as the ship went down," he recalled with a giggle.
Emily Blunt [who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for The Devil Wears Prada] turned to her crooner beau, Michael Bublé, to quiet her jitters. "It's been my job to calm her down," said Bublé, as Blunt placed her hand on his shoulder.

Emily Blunt is barely recognizable without the red hair and brightly colored eye shadow she sported in The Devil Wears Prada. She has some stiff competition from Toni Collette, Abigail Breslin, and Jennifer Hudson but the one thing she does have over those three? She's British! Lauren, Courteney and Winona Have a Night Out For Fallout

Courteney Cox and Lauren Conrad brought along their guys David Arquette and Kyle Howard to a launch party for the video game Fallout 3 in LA last night. Love must have been in the air, as Lauren and Kyle got kissy on the dance floor after spending their day together at the beach while Winona Ryder received some love from the event's promoter, Josh Richman. It wasn't all about romance, however, as stars like Nick Lachey, Mischa Barton, Emile Hirsch were all rolling solo to get their first taste of the new game, enjoy the live music and party the LA night away.

Elton Does It Again With A-List Oscar Party

While the lucky and nominated were at the big Oscar show, some of the rest of the A-List partied the night away at Elton John's annual soiree to watch the awards. The shocker of the evening was that newly single Sean Penn showed up with Petra Nemcova on his arm. Seriously? Seriously. Ugh, moving on ... Elton was the ultimate host as usual to the crowd that included Kate and Len, Tara Reid, and (pregnant?) Minnie. Chace and JC Chasez are apparently BFFs these days. I'm sure these Academy Awards were a little less stressful for Ellen DeGeneres who hosted the big show last year but got to relax by Portia's side and hopefully enjoy the champagne this time around. Meanwhile, did Diddy do the red carpet at the Oscars and then drive straight to the Elton party to watch the show? While none of these party-goers went home with little gold men, they surely celebrated enough for all those who did.

Fashion Week Winds Down With Posh Project Runway Fun

It's the last day of New York Fashion Week, and what better and more exciting way for Fab and Bella to say goodbye than with seats at the Project Runway show. Yays. Check out Fab's report on the show and the guest judge for the finale, Victoria Beckham! So jealous! All five remaining designers had collections on the runway, so no spoilers just yet. That's not the only show with celebrity faces, however, like perennial favorite Parker Posey at Cynthia Rowley and Pharrell, Maggie, and Helena at the Tommy Hilfiger show. Best photo of the group? Defintiely Diddy jumping up from his seat at the Zac Posen show to help a model who stumbled. Such a gentleman. There are still a few shows left (like Marc Jacobs tonight), but things are definitely winding down in Bryant Park. While I'll miss all of Fab and Bella's backstage and in-tent updates from all the action, I'm sure everyone who's been trucking through the whole week is ready for some rest.

Jessica Really Appeals to the Teens

Apparently Jessica and Cash didn't have time to take advantage of being in Paris after Eva and Tony's wedding, because the two were at the airport on their way out yesterday morning. And don't they just look thrilled as usual (though I'm loving her coat)? Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer may have been a bit overshadowed by the other Summer blockbusters, but the Teen Choice Awards committee took notice and nominated Jessica for 3 awards: Hissy Fit, Female Hottie, Action Adventure Actress. The show isn't until the end of August, but you can vote here. Mark my words, teens love Jessica, but she may have to lose to Seacrest in the Hissy Fit category.

Michael Moore's latest political documentary, Sicko, premiered this week and some of his Hollywood stars were out to celebrate. I must say that I love seeing ~~Pacey Whitter~~ Josh Jackson out anywhere, not to mention Kristen Bell post-Veronica Mars. Also, it's always amazing to see Mr. John Cusack. Yay for Say Anything crushes.

The Boys Take Some Chances on MTV Pink Carpet

As always, the women were the Belles of the Ball at last night's MTV Movie Awards (Winners! Here!), but the men managed to make a few fashion statements of their own. First of all, John Krasinski needs to lose the cardigan. Like, now. Meanwhile, who told cutie Shia and Zac Efron that the skinny tie is, once again, back? Because I hope that's not true.
