Brooke Smith was abruptly let go from the cast of Grey's Anatomy after last week's episode. While the details are sketchy, there are a lot of stories correlating her departure with her on-screen homosexuality. Isaiah Washington, who was fired from the show last year, spoke out about her write-off, calling it "disgusting" and saying that the show could be redeemed by bringing back his character.
What a cad, taking advantage of her situation to try to pimp himself back onto the show.
HOWEVEr, what they did was hypocritical. IF he did get fired for his anti gay comments and then they write our her character for being gay, then they're totally wrong and he's justified.
i think that he should just stay out of it, and besides, why would he want to go back on the show knowing how everyone feels about him there? is his career going that poorly?
He's so disgusting...I'm not a fan of Grey's but he's always been a cad either way...I don't understand how the two work together...they allegedly kick her off because of the over sexual
homosexual tone...and he's a homophobe...I think if they bought him back it would just reinforce the whole homophobia thing...right?
I think his comments read like a bunch of "bitter grapes" and it doesn't make any difference what he says as far as I'm concerned. He made his bed, now he has to lie in it. Not getting much
work must suck huh Mr. Washington?
That's hilarious! I don't watch the show anymore anyway.. but still, I think (hope) he was being sarcastic.
He's a homophobe? I thought he just remarked that T.R. was gay. He is...so what's the problem? That's like saying someone's racist if they say Isaiah's black... what's the problem?
No, it was actually at a press thing after they won an award. He poked his head out in front of the whole cast, piped into the microphone the phrase "I did not call TR a fa**ot". The question
hadn't even come up from the reporter, he just blurted it out with no warning. It was really an uncouth moment.
The original comment was in fact made on the set though, about that you are right.

Oh Gawd. The Grey's Anatomy's cast past should have been given some PR lessons.
Wait, I remember now, he said it to Patrick Dempsey and T.R. overheard it. I'm sure everyone has said something they didn't want someone else to hear.
There's plenty I want to say to a person but being
non-confrontational I won't just blurt it out until there's an actual need to say it. In joking around my crazy mouth might say anything that could be offensive...but that's why I save it for
family conversation, and this online forum (and that is heavily censored .
I think they did him (T.R.) more harm than good making it worldwide known in a scandal context rather than quietly. He wasn't ready to 'come out' that was the problem. It doesn't change the
fact that Washington is an excellent actor.
It is strange that he would have a comment on this at all. But then again its ironic that they got rid of the homosexual storyline and fired him for being supposedly homophobic. Nevertheless,
he's a big mouth and probably needs to stay away from speaking out on anything.
Reason I said Homophobe was because I am pretty sure in the gay community the "f" word used by hetero is equivlanet of the 'N' word used by white people.
Mostly because that term is associated with alot of discrimination and ridicule of homosexuals when the world was less 'open' to the idea..but judging from Prop 8. Most of the world is still
pretty narrow minded.
I miss him on the show and I am starting to question Grey's producer's integrity, after all the things that happened. The show is seriously going downhill and I hate that they kicked off
Burke and Hahn (spelling) and also Addison, which was one of the most interesting characters anyways. I do not care about Meredith and McDreamy drama anymore....enough....so boring and old.
simba, they didn't kick Addison off, she got her own show. She deserved it too, her character was being wasted.
I was glad Burke left, he was too pompous a character in my opinion. Of course if he had stayed I wouldn't really have thought about it one way or another, I just didn't like the character.
Isaiah may be a good actor, but I haven't seen it (I've only seen him on Grey's).
Now Hahn, she was awful. She had no chemistry with Callie, she was rude and abusive to the other staff and just generally not a nice person. I wanted her gone before she was announced as a
regular cast member. When she WAS announced, I groaned. I like that Callie is a lesbian, but they need to find someone for her that she has more on-screen chemistry with.
You won't see anything in the episode reesie, it happened off camera. I will give the actors that you couldn't tell anything was wrong in the episodes that were taped after the incident. It
was well buried.
It's two totally different situations. Isaiah earned his ticket off..... we dont know why Brooke got written off. He can't empathize.... he just wants publicity again.
I loved Dr. Burke the character, it is too bad a loud mouth homophobe who couldn't keep his opinions to himself had to play him. After they just sent Hahn off with no warning to us or the
actress that plays her, it would not look good to invite a homophobe to the set and that isn't even considering T.R.'s feelings on the matter.
I would like to remind everyone that Hahn and Callie's relationship was a written script. If they didn't like the way it was going, they could have written the script to head in a different
direction. They would not have had to completely write her off the show. There must be some other reason for letting Brooke go. Plus as far as I know, nothing has been released stating why
they wrote her off. I don't believe it has anything to do with homosexuality being a problem on the show. It may have been planned all along for her to be written off and purely timed to go
along with the Prop 8 voting. Or it could be a publicity stunt for the show piggybacking on the Prop 8 voting. Either way, I don't think they would consider Isaiah Washington returning to the
show. Especially after the big stink he made about his picture appearing on a bulletin board on one of the episodes after he was gone. He's just trying to weasel his way onto the show and
back into the spot light because he hasn't been doing much of anything worth gossiping about since they wrote him off of Grays Anatomy.
I loved Burke, and I've been watching older episodes recently and was even thinking I wished he could someday redeem himself enough to return, but this was such a cheep move on his part that
I see that will never happen. I also think there had been claims of him causing scenes and being disrespectful and hard to work with with a lot of cast members, so I don't think his dismissal
was completely over his comment about TR, more like it was the straw that broke the camel's back.
I agree with Mykie that there was no chemistry between Erica and Callie, I never liked that character since her very first episode, and I really disliked her more and more as time went on. I
was actually starting to warm to her slightly with this storyline, but it seemed like a fabulous idea that was poorly executed (her being the obvious weak link in my opinion). I don't see how
the show could be homophobic after writing the storyline, and I loved McSteamy's supportive role in it all.
I miss the days when I didn't know anything about the behind the scenes crap with shows.. ignorance truly is bliss.
Yes he is an a** in real life but it didn't affect his acting and I loved Burke's character. I think Hunt would mop him up one floor and down the next in a toe-to-toe confrontation! I wanna
see them fight over Yang! Take some focus off Grey for a bit.
Again another desperate attempt for some publicity. Will he ever just shut up? His career is presently almost non existent. He is a fine actor that can't seem to control his temper. conceit,
arrogance and big mouth. After his post departure media rant,it would surely be unthinkable for him to return to ABC on any show.
I actually miss Dr. Burke. I didn't think I would, but the show hasn't been the same without him.
There are differing accounts about the manner in which Isaiah used the word "f-ggot." I don't think that it is okay to use that word AT ALL, but I heard that he called Patrick Dempsey a
f-word for always showing up late on the set and TR overheard this, thinking that Isaiah was talking about him. The point is, none of us exactly know what exactly happened and I don't know
why Isaiah would just call TR a f-ggot out of the blue when he was angry at Patrick for being consistently late.
Whatever it was I for one def. think the man deserved another chance. HE may be a hot head and sometimes takes himself too seriously that's been his fault. It has been great over reaction to
fire him over that verbal dispute. He makes some gaffes and he also has been desperate to get back so he keeps talking of Greys. He needs to see through the mockery the media keeps making of
him and avoid the detractors. That said he surrre can act and his presence on Greys was magnetic, he overshadows everyone and that may be the reason. The problems he had on set may be that
the cast had professional jealousy with him..and the network at heart did not want to see a black man overshadow even their MCDreamy. If we recall IW never got any MCname/s ...hmmm ? They
should get him back even now....he is still hot ! wanted and watchable.

I think it would be bettter with Burke! Bring him back
1How does he equate fixing negative publicity by letting him, a homophobe, back on the show?
2everbody else have an opinion on this situation, so why not him?
3What a cad, taking advantage of her situation to try to pimp himself back onto the show.

5Just bring Burke back!
6I don't get the connection how letting him back would redeem the show.
7Its better since he left- he was always such a little whiny b*tch-
8i'm with you, treb!
9He's so disgusting...I'm not a fan of Grey's but he's always been a cad either way...I don't understand how the two work together...they allegedly kick her off because of the over sexual homosexual tone...and he's a homophobe...I think if they bought him back it would just reinforce the whole homophobia thing...right?
10There's too much differing accounts of the story for label him an homophobe, IMO.
He should stay out of it not wanting to come back to this show.Unless he wants to come back to unnerve Katharine Heigl.
11I think his comments read like a bunch of "bitter grapes" and it doesn't make any difference what he says as far as I'm concerned. He made his bed, now he has to lie in it. Not getting much work must suck huh Mr. Washington?
12he's just begging to get back on the show he was fired from
13he should really just be quiet!

14WTF? How is bringing back his character going to redeem homophobia by ABC..when he himself is a homophobe?!
15That's hilarious! I don't watch the show anymore anyway.. but still, I think (hope) he was being sarcastic.

No, Mesay, he called him a fa**ot. On national TV.
17Note to Isaiah: Your five minutes was up over a year ago.

21Yeah, at least he and Heigl should have. LOL
And I LOVE Katie Heigl, but girl needs to SHUT THE **** UP! LOL

27that is some drama! maybe i'll have to start watching again to see what went down in that infamous episode!

30Lil, brooke was written off because they didn't like the direction her relationship with Callie was heading.
31doesn't matter if he comes back or not. the show sucks from bad writing. nothing will save it now

33It all seems hypocritical. Grey's got rid of Washington for an alleged homophobic remark & then they boot a gay character? Shady, shady, shady.
34I wish the character of Burke would come back but not in a million years could I watch Isiah in that role - he's a complete jerk.
