Michelle Gives Vogue Her First Post-Heath Interview

Michelle Williams graces the cover of Vogue's October issue, opening up about Heath Ledger for her first magazine interview since his death. The actress looks gorgeous as she promotes her pushed-back Shutter Island and provides us an in-depth look at how she and Matilda are dealing with their life after Heath's passing. She reveals she is no longer dating Spike Jonze, but sounds like she's staying strong as a single parent. Here's more:

On dealing with Heath's death: "I have been severely accident-prone over the past 12 months. I fell downstairs, broke a toe, put my fingers in a blender - seriously distracted. [I would often] cry, nap, sit and stare, try to figure out what to make [Matilda] for dinner, talk to friends on the phone. I was holding it together by a string and a paper clip in the Fall and Winter. I didn’t know if I could keep it all together."
On grieving with Matilda: "I just don’t see the upside to this. You console yourself by saying it’s all a deepening process. But it’s weird. After the first year, the pain is less intense; it’s less immediate. But the magical thinking goes away, too. And that’s a whole new reckoning. But every time I really miss him and wonder where he’s gone, I just look at her."
On splitting with Spike Jonze: "The timing was impossible. I thought falling in love again was the only thing that was going to save me from the pain. This erroneous idea: it just makes things more complicated."

On before Heath died: "Brokeback Mountain was an unrepeatable moment in time, a very charmed time in my life. I was in love; I was in a movie I was proud to be a part of, and with a beautiful brand-new baby. Everything was good in that moment. [After we split I started filming a movie in Sweden because] I just didn’t want to be at home. Geography is a great solution for heartbreak."
On waiting so long before she started to do interviews: "I didn’t know what my boundaries were for a long time, which made interviews feel very unsafe. I can talk about grief, because that’s mine; about single parenting; about trying to balance work and kids. But what I don’t have to talk about is what happened between Heath and me in our relationship."
On dating while having a daughter: "I obviously don’t know how to [date with a child, but] I’m falling more and more in love with her and I think she deserves the bulk of my attention. We’re lucky. I can work. She can go to a good school. There’s a lot there for her. And she can know her dad in so many ways, and so many of his friends who will be able to tell her so many stories. His friends, his family - they were a big part of his life, and they will be a big part of her life."
On her future: "I feel hopeful and grateful. For a while I thought we had lost everything. It makes you want to love better and live better and treat people better.There is a great Gloria Steinem quote - and I’m paraphrasing - ‘Become the man you want to marry.’ I’ve taken that on. What qualities do I find attractive, and can I find them in myself? What am I missing? Can I be that for myself?"

January Jones and Jon Hamm spent Monday night premiering the new season of Mad Men in LA, and they're both making the magazine rounds to promote the series before its return to TV on August 16. They sat down to chat all about their show, sharing some insight into their complicated but engaging characters. They said:

Jon on his favorite scenes with January: "It’s always fun when we fight. I think January would agree with that."
Jon on the difference between himself and Don: "Don is a character who can skew into something way more dark and menacing and mean."
January on playing Betty: "A lot of what I do with Betty is in the eyes. A lot of the feelings are unspoken, so that’s kind of been fun to play with. . . Betty’s whole life is a façade. If she can’t keep up the pretense everything is perfect, she will crumble and die, I think."

Taylor Swift Sparkles on the Today Show

Taylor Swift glittered from her dress to her guitar on the Today Show stage earlier this morning. She performed a few of her hits to a crowd of happy fans to promote her upcoming Summer tour with Kellie Pickler. As she gears up to hit the road, Taylor recently opened up about her songs, friends, and relationships. Here's more:

On her songs: "You know I don't really rebel in a lot of areas in my life. . . . But the one place where I'm allowed to rebel, and the one place where I'm allowed to not worry about censoring myself is my music. I don't need to edit names out of songs and I don't need to edit details out of my songs because I've always been able to be honest with my music. That's the one place where I'm never ever going to change how I do things."
On dating: "When I'm thinking about going on a date with some guy or considering liking him, it really doesn't matter what they do or how that affects my career. . . . When you strategize a relationship too much, like, 'We're not gonna be public about it, and we're gonna say this in interviews,' when you think it all out, I think that complicates the relationship and I think that's unfair for the relationship. I don't look for boyfriends, I don't really scour the awards shows for who I'm going to date (laughs), but I think love happens when you're not looking for it, and when it happens, I'm not going to be the one to overthink it."

Taylor might not have time for boys in the next few months, but she's got her head on her shoulders for whenever she's ready for another relationship.

Lindsay and Samantha Are Complicated

Lindsay Lohan was out and about in LA last night, after making a stop at Samantha Ronson's house earlier in the day. After LL's appearance on Ellen aired, Samantha updated her Facebook status to "It's Complicated." She had previously removed "In a Relationship" when she fought with LL in the beginning of April. The relationship between these girls has always been volatile, so it wouldn't be a huge surprise if Lindsay's hopeful words about reuniting with Samantha along with her visit yesterday ends in a reconciliation between the two.

A Glamourous Katie Holmes Is Not Pregnant

Katie Holmes posed for a naughty and nice photo shoot in the 70th anniversary April issue of Glamour magazine. She opens up about Tom Cruise, Suri, and how she deals with all of the media attention. She also denied any pregnancy rumors, and seems very happy with her cozy family. Here are some highlights:

On being a mom: "Well, becoming a mother has been the most amazing experience-in an instant you become strong. You have to be a little bit wiser; it’s the most important job in the world. Of course [the responsibility scared me.] During the first couple of days [with Suri], we would just sleep right next to her to make sure she was breathing. And I was constantly learning on the job, but Tom was very helpful and supportive."
On press about Suri: "Some of the stuff [people said] was such absolutely horrible things to say about a child. It was so uncalled for and so disgusting. Enough is enough. Yes, [Tom told me not to worry]. We were changing diapers. He said, 'I don’t want you to get upset.' And I said, 'Well, I am upset.' So we approached it together. But I definitely felt like-as a woman, as the mother of Suri-I want to handle this! My mom is very strong, and if anyone ever said anything about any of us, she would be, 'Excuse me? That’s my family!'"
On their typical family life: "We’re all together. We like to be together, so we use the house for our [business] meetings. [We] play Yahtzee, board games, Scrabble. We grill; have pool parties. We play 'The Three Little Pigs' and Suri is the Big Bad Wolf. [Tom] reads storybooks to Suri, and we all laugh. When a good song comes on, he’ll break out in a dance. We’ll watch movies in bed-recently Madagascar and Cinderella, for Suri. We really have a good time."

On what Tom is really like: "He loves women; he was raised with sisters. He’s strong and intelligent and very, very funny. For my thirtieth birthday he couldn’t be in New York [where she was doing her play]. So he organized the whole audience at that show to sing “Happy Birthday” to me, and then he had a cake rolled out on the stage. But he’s not a dreamer-he just does it. He’ll say, “I think I like that movie,” and the next day, “I’m going to make that movie!”
On always knowing she would marry Tom: "When Top Gun came out, my sisters were like, 'Oh, my God, Top Gun! Tom Cruise!' And I very confidently said, 'I’m going to marry him one day.' It wasn’t like, How do I get to Tom Cruise? It was just: I think I’m going to marry him. Why not? He’ll like me. I’m fun."
On her work: "I want to do it all. Bad girl, good girl, complicated girl. Aren’t we all complicated? And I like all different genres: comedies, dramas, action, musicals. I’m taking jazz and ballet lessons."

Katie seems confident in her relationships and happy with her family life and we can't complain either since we love seeing her out with Tom and adorable little Suri.

Naomi Opens Up About Heath and Talks Marriage

Liev Schreiber took Alexander to the park earlier today while Naomi Watts ran some errands around LA. Liev's been promoting Defiance, but now it's Naomi's turn to start the interview circuit for her film The International. She recently spoke to Parade about getting advice from Nicole Kidman, how she met Heath Ledger, and whether marriage to Liev is a possibility. Here are some highlights:

On remembering when she met Heath: "I hadn't really been that familiar with his work. Then, when I got to the set and did that first scene with him, I was like, 'Wow! This guy is alive.' It was just something deep in his eyes. You could look into them, and they would tell a thousand stories in one glance. There was a wonderful mixture of power and fragility at work in everything he did, which just pulls you in. His strength didn't scare you. It intrigued you. And his fragility touched you [...] It's still incredibly difficult."
On Liev: "I started out living in LA, and then I met this guy who hates LA! He’s a complicated man, which I’ve always been drawn toward in men. He’s fiercely intelligent."
On her thoughts about marriage: "It's not like I’ve grown up having this dream of a fairy-tale wedding. My mother married twice and had two divorces. And Liev comes from the same kind of background. Maybe one day we’ll just wake up and go, 'Hey, let's do this.' And maybe not. He and I have a family. We're very much together. We just don't have that certificate, and that's okay with both of us. He gave me a beautiful ring, although I'm not wearing it right now."

It is always sad to hear about Heath from his friends, but Naomi seems happy and busy in her life right now with her three special boys.
