To stop the spread of rumors, Owen Wilson has apparently taken to using public restrooms with the door open so people can see that he's not doing drugs in his stall. For most people, it would be the opposite that made them more comfortable. - Page Six
JK Rowling and Warner Bros., the producers of the Harry Potter films, have filed a lawsuit against a small book publishing firm that seeks to print a Harry Potter encyclopedia, because Rowling herself plans to release a similar work in the near future. That firm probably should have known better than to get anywhere near the HP cash cow. - AP

Stars Help Celebrate the Pride of Britain

Last night some of the UK's bravest yet lesser-known heroes were honored at the Pride of Britain awards. The winners are chosen by judges that include Simon Cowell, and the inspiring citizens range from children to firefighters to racecar drivers. Emma Watson was looking adorable as always to show the love for JK Rowling, who received a special recognition award for her philanthropic efforts in addition to bringing us Harry Potter. We love seeing our favorite celebrities get recognition, but it's even nicer to see the appreciation for acts of bravery coming from every day heroes.

Harry Potter Draws a Royal Crowd For the London Premiere

The cast of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince braved the London rain for their premiere yesterday. Helen Bonham Carter showed off her castle purse, though Emma Watson stole the show in her gorgeous gown. As avid fans of all ages - including Guy Ritchie and Rocco - were treated to one of the movie's first showings, here in the states we'll have to wait until next week to check out the latest installment of the franchise.

Kate's Not All Tea And Crumpets

Kate Beckinsale was out and about with her little Lily in Santa Monica yesterday. Looks like Lily is still making her way through that Harry Potter book we saw her with last month - or maybe she's letting her mom have a turn with it when she's not kicking butt on the set. Thanks to Underworld, Kate has made a name for herself as a action star, and she recently explained what made her take on the role in the first place. She said,

"This is still a complete riot to me that anyone lets me be in an action movie. Before I did Underworld, every time I walked into a room I would think there was a whiff of crumpets and fine china. If the character was a cop or whatever, it was, 'No, Kate's from England.' "So I just wanted to do something with a little bit more edge and then it took off a little bit more than I thought it would."

It's very cool that Kate is changing the stereotype of what a proper British woman should be like. Luckily, she's also got J.K. Rowling kicking butt in the publishing industry to help support the cause.

Variety Picks Salma as a Top Female Producer

Salma Hayek looked beautiful and bright with her baby bump while strolling through Hollywood this weekend. Even though Salma isn't acting while pregnant that doesn't mean she's putting her career on hold. Salma, the producer, is one of the 50 women who will be featured in Variety's Women’s Impact Report. Other leading ladies who were movers and shakers in the industry this year include Angelina, Tina Fey and J.K. Rowling. In the special issue, Salma talks about what her company, Ventanazul, means to her and what she hopes to achieve as a producer. Here are highlights:

"I think we are the only company right now whose sole mission is to specialize in two things: 1) appealing to the Latin market and 2) taking a Latin story or a Latin talent and appealing to the global market."
"Instead of making one good movie, I'm really thinking of a brand. I want the Latin people to be proud of the projects that come out of it and the rest of the world to be excited to see our next thing."
"I do dream hard, but I'm very flexible. I think it's the only way to be a true visionary. ... I don't think I'm going to fail, but if I do, the next person in the line will go a little bit further because I took the chance."

It's inspiring to see how dedicated and ambitious Salma is, even as she does all this pregnant. We can't wait to see how her projects turn out, even if we're just slightly more excited for the first glimpse of her bundle of joy this winter.
