Johnny Depp wore a long overcoat and a fedora for a family New Year's Eve event on Saturday in Hollywood. The actor saw in 2012 alongside his longtime partner, Vanessa Paradis, and their children, nine-year-old Jack and twelve-year-old Lily-Rose. He didn't go along, though, when Vanessa took the kids to an LA Guitar Center yesterday. It seems the little ones were enjoying the hot Southern California weather, rocking tank tops and t-shirts. 2011 was another great year for Johnny. His winning the PopSugar 100 was one of our top headlines of the year. 2012 will be another awesome one for Johnny, since he's got both 21 Jump Street and Dark Shadows en route to theaters.

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis took a walk in LA yesterday with their son Jack. The family of four, including Jack's sister Lily-Rose, are apparently based on the West Coast this year during the kids' time at school. The daily routine hasn't stopped Johnny and Vanessa from their work. They've even collaborated - Johnny and Vanessa did a duet for a Serge Gainsbourg tribute album that just came out! Their song is an old Serge tune called "From Gainsbourg to Lulu."

Johnny, meanwhile, just wrapped up a global press tour for The Rum Diary. He's gearing up for a variety of projects in 2012, like a film about Dr. Seuss and his Lone Ranger reboots. Johnny covers Aspen Peak's new issue and spoke about tackling Tonto inside the magazine. He said, "I’m part Cherokee. And an old-time Lone Ranger fan. To me, Tonto was the stoic fox of the operation. He was the insider in America, and the Lone Ranger was the newcomer to the land. I’ve got a great feel to how Tonto should be played."

Despite the slight setback, Johnny's still moving forward on two new projects with Disney, including The Night Stalker, about a reporter who investigates crimes with a supernatural or sci-fi spin, and Paul Revere, which tells the story of the historic ride to warn of an impending British invasion. If that wasn't enough to keep him busy, he's also among the hot dads competing in this year's shirtless bracket. It's rare to see Johnny's kids out and about, but the 8-year-old is a frequent visitor on dad's movie sets around the world. Johnny has been trekking through the continent this week on a press tour with Angelina Jolie for The Tourist. Their last stop was in Madrid yesterday, and now the costars have gone their separate ways with Johnny seeing his family and Angelina taking care of her latest humanitarian mission. The duo will reunite for more promotion, and perhaps they'll make appearances on the Golden Globes red carpet since they're both nominated for their work together. Johnny also scored a nod for Alice in Wonderland, which was a bit less surprising. This week we also got a glimpse of Johnny's next two big-screen releases with the first trailers for both Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and the animated Rango.

The trio took a walk through the city's Piazza San Marco, where they stopped to snap photos amidst all the pigeons. Johnny met up with his family once shooting wrapped, and he was spotted heading back to their boat after dinner with one arm around Vanessa and the other around Lily-Rose.
