Newsflash - Indiana Jones Opens Today

Summer blockbuster season is officially in full gear! Iron Man kicked things off but this weekend it's all about Indy and die-hard fans are already in theaters watching the long awaited fourth installment of the Ford/Lucas/Spielberg film. Shia may be the newcomer but he already knows how important it is to take his mentor's advice. When ET asked Shia what he's learned from the veteran actor he said, "Stay humble." We love it and hope he sticks to it. The cast showed up last night in NYC to express their gratitude to fans for a special screening. Oh and some other celebrities like Eric McCormack showed up as well. He looks so cute, makes me miss Will & Grace a little. I wonder if they agreed with Buzz's review of the film.

Alec and Tina Go Gotham

Tina Fey really went all out with the sexy, while Alec Baldwin kept it a little more casual at last night's Gotham Magazine Gala in NYC. The dynamic duo share the cover of the glossy this month, and inside the pages Tina Fey talks about not being all hot. Think again, Vixen. Anyway, now that the writers' strike is officially over, I for one can't wait to come running back to TV for new episodes of 30 Rock. Seriously, if you're not watching this show you definitely should. Maybe reading some of their funny interview will help convince you. Here are highlights:

Tina on the future of 30 Rock: I think Alec being on the show bought us a lot of time. He’s such a brilliant actor and he’s not someone you get to see for free on TV. I think he absolutely bought us the whole first year. But I think that people who see the show really do like it; it’s just a question of getting people to try it out. We have the label of a “low-rated” or “poorly rated” show, but we’re doing better this year. And it’s weird, because on the same day I’ll see us referred to as “the low-rated 30 Rock” in the paper, and then I’ll read “the hit show Gossip Girl.” We rate higher than Gossip Girl, but there’s a different expectation [when a show is] on NBC as opposed to the CW.
Gotham: Have you seen Gossip Girl?
TF: No, but the children on it are very beautiful.
Tina's resolutions for 2008: Maybe an attempt at a less vulgar life. Less cursing, less bile. I sort of got into trouble last year - I went on Howard Stern and ran my mouth a little bit about Paris Hilton. [Fey called Hilton a “piece of s--” and said she “looks like a tranny,” among other things.] Not only was that not the right way for a 37-year-old woman to behave, but I went to my gynecologist for my yearly checkup shortly thereafter and she was like, “I read that thing [you said about Paris Hilton] in the paper. That was very hostile. Are you all right?” And I was like, You know what? You’re right. That was very hostile. What business is it of mine? So, starting there: being less vulgar and more . . . kind isn’t the right word for it. Perhaps more “Christian” in my dealings with people. Yeah, less vulgar. More Christian.

Alec on being the reason 30 Rock wasn't cancelled: I think it’s nice when people say that. I’ve heard people say, “Oh, the show wouldn’t be the same if you left,” because I was thinking of leaving earlier on. And that’s flattering on the one hand, but I don’t think it’s really honest - which is to say, you can’t be funny unless you have good writing. The two go hand in hand. It’s like someone writes good songs and somebody sings them well - but which is more important? I think they’re equally important. The show needed someone, oddly enough, who had this excess of authority and confidence, because everyone else is a geek or a nerd. Our counterweight to the geekiness and the nerdiness is [my character], an overbearing corporate executive.
Alec on resolutions for 2008: My resolution is to rest. I’m going to walk through the park, go to the movies, and rest. It’s been a tough year. With the strike and all the crap with my daughter, it’s taken a lot out of me. [Now it’s] time to do things that make me feel good. I want to have a pleasant, simple, easy, and enjoyable year.

Ah, "crap with my daughter." He will totally never learn to keep his mouth shut . . . I can't help it I still love him. As for Tina being nicer to Paris Hilton? I see what she means, but that was still totally hilarious.

Celebs Can't Contain Their Election Night Excitement

Harvey Weinstein hosted an Election Night Party at Public House in NYC yesterday as everyone got together to watch Barack Obama elected President. James Franco beamed and hugged everyone around him. Jessica Alba posed with Taylor Momsen, who's not old enough to vote but still got in on the excitement. Jessica said of the election, "I think we all have to start to see the change we are waiting for. We need more people that think like him . . . that are, I don't know, thoughtful?" As for Obama's first order of business, "Helping Americans understand that you are part of the world and can't isolate yourself so much." Overall, the mood was one of joy as people cheered out of their windows and cars in celebration.

NBC's Beautiful Faces Celebrate in NYC

Many of our favorite NBC stars both current and future came out at NYC's Rockefeller Center last night for the NBC Universal Experience party. Ah, can't wait to have all these friendly faces back on the small screen - too bad it's not until the fall. John Krasinski was sporting an ill-advised beard while thankfully Zachary Levi got rid of his. Friday Night Lights' Minka Kelly looked adorable as always while next season's new Kath and Kim's Selma Blair showed off her always impeccable fashion sense. Jimmy Fallon, our official Conan replacement flashed a peace sign making his way down the red carpet. I'm getting excited about fall TV already - I know, I know, long time from now - check out Buzz to keep track of all the news.

SJP and Ellen Page Are Bright Ladies at Smart People

Surprisingly, Ellen Page was the girly looking one at last night's NYC premiere of Smart People. Sarah Jessica Parker, on the other hand, went a little more rock star with her leggings, leopard print and hot pink. The cute little ladies' costars Dennis Quaid and Thomas Hayden Church were both on hand for the event. This was one of the hot movies at Sundance Film Festival and with such an adorable and talented cast, I can't wait to finally see it when it hits theaters April 11.

Halle Shows off her Baby Bump with Dream Costar

Halle Berry showed off her growing baby bump at the premiere for her new film Things We Lost in the Fire in NYC this weekend. Jennifer Hudson looked beautiful in purple while Halle looked cute and happy with her costar, Benicio Del Toro. Halle recently spoke with Oprah about her excitement in getting to work with Benicio. Here's more:

Halle on Working with Benicio: "For about at least five years before we had this chance to work together, people would always say, 'Who do you want to work with?' And I would always say, 'Benicio Del Toro, never really imagining how that would happen or if it would come to pass."
Halle on Benicio the Comedian: "When you work on a movie that has the gravity of this movie, you need someone to lighten it up. He had a wonderful way of just making us all smile or finding the light touch in every scene, because every scene can't be heavy and downtrodden."

Not only are Halle's dreams of having a baby finally coming true, but the Oscar winner also has a gorgeous man in her life and is getting to work with her favorite actors. After some really rocky relationships, Halle must be feeling great that her life has turned out so fortunate. Emmy Thinks Kathy, Justin & Andy Are So Creative!

The big show is next weekend, but yesterday the Shrine Auditorium was all about the Creative Emmys. The lesser known Emmy event brought out some personal favorites (and next week's nominees) - from NPH to America. Kathy Griffin walked away with her first Emmy for My Life on the D-List (which is my guilty pleasure). Check out the full list of winners here. As expected, Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg walked away winning for D*ck In A Box. During his acceptance speech Andy obviously took the chance to make a few jokes. He said:

"I think it's safe to say that when we first set out to make this song, we were all thinking 'Emmy!...The other thing we were thinking was, 'Hey! Here's this young up and comer, Justin Timberlake, who is clearly very talented and could clearly use a break. So, Justin, if you're out there, congrats to you, kid.'"

I'm sure Justin is happy to have another award to add to his collection - Oscar next? We'll have to wait and see. In case you haven't filled out your Emmy ballot yet, there's still one week to go - free TV for a year!

Gwyneth and Jake Check Out The Good Night

Gwyneth went from showing off Pleasures in Chicago to attending a screening of The Good Night in East Hampton this weekend. The film is a family affair that stars and was written and directed by her brother Jake. Unfortunately, it looks like their mom Blythe Danner missed the event, but the siblings were surrounded by lots of good family friends including Stella McCartney and Kate Capshaw. Jake wasn't sure about having his sister star in his directorial debut, but Gwyneth begged and got the part. She said, "I read the script, and I was like, Please let me be in this! It's so weird and real and amazing."

Julia's Big Disappointing Debut

She may have had a large support group including her good friend Oprah, but it seems as if she got disappointing reviews from the press. US Weekly has gathered some quotes from the various newspapers. I thought these 2 were the most interesting:

Well, she gives it the old college try â€” and that is all she appears capable of. As if marooned on an unfamiliar shore, Julia Roberts staggers hesitantly through Three Days of Rain. . .

As for her famous friends who came to support her - People reports Oprah, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, James Gandolfini, Diane Sawyer, Dave Matthews, Rosie Perez, Marcia Gay Harden, James Lipton, and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Hmm, no mention of hubby Danny being there but I'm sure it was just overlooked. Somehow I also don't think the reviews will hurt tickets sales.
