Drew Isn't Afraid of Red Carpet Annihilation at Grey Gardens

Drew Barrymore perfectly looked the part at the premiere of Grey Gardens in NYC last night. She was joined by costars Jessica Lange - who looked great after her recent fall - and Jeanne Tripplehorn. It was a rainy night in Manhattan but the HBO movie's stars smiled big on the red carpet. Drew Barrymore's maybe on-again boyfriend and definitely repeat costar Justin Long also came out to support the film. On the red carpet Drew talked about taking on the role and how she related to her character:

On her red carpet fashion: "People get annihilated if people don’t like what they’re wearing, but then they dress plain to not get annihilated and then that’s boring. So I don’t care what people say I want to have fun with fashion."
On playing Little Edie: "I only care about if she thinks that I did right by her. And I lived and breathed her for three months, I cut off myself from the rest of the world to literally understand really being isolated in life and not live in a world with technology and to not have friends and family in abundance around me and I just kept thinking, 'I just want to honor you, I just want to honor you, I just want to honor you.'"
On missing playing the part: "The whole thing was challenging and scary. I’ve never been so terrified in my life [as when I was] pulling off Little Edie. . . I think one of my favorite things about her is her - and maybe it’s a character flaw, but I find it wonderful - is that she’s not afraid to show her emotions. She’s not afraid to be childlike. She’s not afraid to dance around a room. She’s not afraid to be angry. She’s not afraid to be vulnerable and quiet and calm and sad and to have that level of range as a human being I just find that rather interesting."

One Thing We're Not Thankful For Is the Strike

The WGA strike pressed on in LA yesterday, bringing out actors like Masi Oka, Ali Larter, and Sandra Oh who headed to the picket lines in support of their writers. Alicia Keys lightened things up a bit by performing her new single, but we all know how serious the issue is for everyone involved. Yesterday marks the last day of picketing before Thanksgiving, and we're keeping our fingers crossed that a compromise can be reached soon. We're already feeling the effects of losing some of our favorite shows so hopefully the writers and producers can make some headway in their scheduled talks next week.

Get Ready for Some More Big Love

The little ladies of Big Love were on hand for the premiere of the 2nd season in LA this week. Bill Paxton and Executive Producer Tom Hanks also came out for the occasion! Ginnifer is looking adorable but a little pissed off. The only thing that's missing is boyfriend Chris Klein! He must be busy on one of the 5 films he has in the works right now. As for the show, we're dying to see how much of the Henricksen family's secret is actually out. The season premieres on HBO on Monday at 9 PST and is on our list of must watch tv shows of the summer.

Kate, Kirsten and Rita Play Director

Kate Hudson, Kirsten Dunst and Rita Wilson made it a black and white affair at the premiere of their Glamour Reel films last night in L.A. Kate's film, Cutlass co-starred her "dad" Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning and her boyfriend Dax Shepard (the latter two were no shows last night). Birthday boy Chevy Chase was also back in action as one of the stars in Kate's film. Kirsten's movie Welcome starred Winona Ryder and Rita's film called The Trap starred Jeanne Tripplehorn. All three directors looked very happy to debut their hard work. You can check out the films on Glamour's site and even better - when you download the flicks they donate some money!

Actors Celebrate Each Other at the SAGs

Tom Cruise skipped the red carpet (boo - where was Katie?) and despite the latest controversy, he was there to support his fellow actors in the union last night at the 2008 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Tom presented the best ensemble cast to No Country For Old Men. Other big winners included Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, The Sopranos cast and Daniel Day Lewis who had the most heartfelt speech dedicating his award to Heath Ledger who he said was "unique" and "perfect" when referring to his role as Ennis in Brokeback Mountain. The rest of the show was pretty much business as usual and of course water watch for Angelina Jolie. Although there were no major surprises tell Buzz if you agree with the movie and television honorees.

Drew Barrymore Is Still in the Grey Gardens

Drew Barrymore looked pouty but pretty in her fab 40s era outfit around the set of Grey Gardens in Toronto yesterday. From period piece to her gorgeous Gucci ads, we've been seeing all sorts of sides of flower child Drew. Last time we saw Drew on the set she was in all white and we're excited to see the rest of the ladies in their fabulous wardrobes, especially now that Jeanne Tripplehorn has signed on as the role of Jackie O in the film.

HBO's Big GG Bash

The Golden Globe Awards didn't stop with the InStyle party last night. The HBO family threw a big bash at the Beverly Hilton. The casts of Entourage and Big Love plus a few other guests such as Katharine McPhee and her boobs partied late into the night. Seriously, what is Katharine thinking? It looks painful. While Adrien looks cute we're not so into Chris Klein's new hair do.

Weekend Highlights

So many fabulous entertainment options this weekend but the big night is definitely Sunday. Until then, the latest romantic comedy starring SJP and sexy man MM opens this weekend. Here they are at the premiere of Failure To Launch.

As for Sunday Night TV you better plan ahead. Along with new episodes of Desperate Housewives and the even better Grey's Anatomy, the long awaited return of The Sopranos finally comes to an end. Following Bada Bing will be Big Love which is bound to blow us away. Click here to watch the preview of this new show that is pissing off the folks in Utah.
