Selma Blair and Jewel Take It to the Floor at the Grammy Awards

The mamas-to-be shone brighter than the awards handed out at the Grammys last night. Jewel and Selma Blair, who are both expecting their first babies this Spring, walked the red carpet in floor-length dresses that hid their growing bellies beneath their flowing fabric. While Jewel's one-shoulder gown drew the eye to her toned chest and arms, Selma's low-cut bodice drew attention to her décolleté.

How Moms-to-Be Natalie Portman and Jewel Stay in Shape

It's a pregnancy party up in Hollywood right now: Natalie Portman, Victoria Beckham, Jane Krakowski, Marion Cotillard, Kate Hudson, Selma Blair, Alicia Silverstone, and Jewel are all expecting! (Quite a mouthful, huh?). It's been fun seeing how they dress up their baby bump on the red carpet and inspiring to hear how they're staying fit throughout their pregnancies.

After a strict diet and fitness routine for Black Swan, actress Natalie Portman has eased up and is back to her normal diet, but she isn't being lazy. The vegan actress is staying fit by swimming every day and told Us Magazine: "When I am in my womb-like environment, I am hoping the baby is feeling peaceful." If you're expecting and lin need of a workout, swimming is great, low-impact option. A lot of gyms even offer water classes specifically for pregnant women.

Jewel is also a fit momma-to-be and has been working out with a few of her "cowboy friends." At the Television Critics' Association event last week, the singer told the press that she's been running outside and hitting the gym. If you're an avid runner and expecting, be sure to follow our tips for running while pregnant; even if you have to decrease your intensity levels, you can still enjoy a regular running routine.

Kara DioGuardi and Jewel Sing the Praises of Platinum Hit, but Don't Ask About American Idol

The Winter TCA got real today when Bravo's new competition reality series Platinum Hit took the stage with host Jewel and head judge Kara DioGuardi in the forefront. While the two music industry vets were passionate about their new show (a songwriting challenge), the elephant in the room was DioGuardi's exit from American Idol, which just wowed the TCA with its newly star-studded judging panel earlier this week.

As for Platinum Hit, executive producer Glenda Hersh says that it's about the songwriting process, and Jewel added that its "about finding hit songs," telling the audience that "there's a world of hit-makers out there" that hasn't been portrayed on TV yet. It's not a singing competition, and the panel gave the impression that writing music is tougher: "You can't fake your way through writing a song," Jewel said.
If you were hoping to find out the exact circumstances of which DioGuardi found out she was no longer part of American Idol, too bad. When she deflected the question, saying, "I'm happy to address that with you privately," the room of reporters booed. To follow that up, she asserted that Idol "was an incredible experience, it really was, but I'm here as a hit songwriter" for Platinum Hit.
DioGuardi talked about her career as a hit-maker (you know, prior to that Idol business), and mentioned that it's how she and Jewel originally met. The business of writing songs, Jewel said, "is a goldmine," and DioGuardi agreed: "I bought my house from it."

Baby bumps will continue to rock the red carpet this year. There have been six celebrity pregnancy announcements in the last four weeks so Hollywood is bracing for another baby boom. While some parents-to-be publicly express their baby desires, others take us by surprise.

Natalie Portman kicked off the pregnancy brigade with her post-Christmas announcement that she is expecting and engaged. Kate Hudson let the world in on her pregnancy secret with her announcement yesterday, while her ex, Owen Wilson, announced his plans to be a dad earlier this week. Victoria Beckham spread her baby news via pals over the weekend, while Jewel shared hers through the press and Jane Krakowski confirmed her news after showing off her baby bump while on vacation last week.
