Jive Wants to Look Away from Britney Train Wreck

Oh, Britney, Britney, Britney, will you ever learn...or pay a responsible amount of attention to your kids...or realize that your career suicide is something that should probably be addressed in a more substantial way than an online missive to your fans? Though the starlet (is she really a starlet anymore? What would you call her? Pop Idol on Hiatus?) is ending many of her nights at the recording studio, things may not be so happy over at Jive Records, the company set to release her comeback album. Page Six reports:

"Right now, she is trying to lay down some tracks, but no one is keen to move very quickly because there is the issue of how to market the album," an insider said. "Jive hasn't even picked producers for the album."

The record execs are also concerned about Britney's image. "If she doesn't clean up her act - and soon - it is going to be a problem. The public has grown really tired of her antics and despite her and [manager Larry Rudolph] promising she would change, she hasn't," continued our source. "She has lost her core fan base of teen girls."

She has also, it should be noted, lost her core fan base of horny men of all ages. Damn shame, too, because they were the ones buying the albums to drool over the photos in the liner notes (and secretly rock out to the songs alone in their cars).

Britney's New Record Doesn't Jive

Things for Britney are just continuing to get worse. She was so exhausted she either collapsed or fell asleep at her own NYE party which prompted rumors of a possible stint in rehab. Here we see more from that night where she drops the F-bomb to her crowd. Now we hear bad news on her comeback album. Apparently it's been put on hold. Rumor is - it stinks! Here's more:

While in New York she was in the studio recording for Jive Records. She worked some nights until 4 a.m. laying down tracks for a new CD. She thinks it's the makings of a really great album. They don't.

Talk inside the company is that either it's redone, or they need to drop it - and her. When this recording session began, she'd just dumped Federline the Insect. It was not a good time in her life. To recharge her career, she reconnected with her long-ago first-time manager, the one who originally brought her to the heights, Larry Rudolph.

But constant headlined misbehavior is stoking the problem. Jive fears she's alienating her fan base. Their fan base. Jive caters to a young music-buyer, and the continued atmosphere - drinking, bingeing, partying, whatevering, photos with no panties for a mother of two infants - is hitting sour notes. Besides, Jive is not in sync with the five tracks Brit delivered. Conversation in their offices is: If we bear the expense of a redo, is it possible that, down the road, because of the way she's going, we could end up with a really bad product? Or one that won't sell?

The recording has stopped midway. Nothing more's been done because the company doesn't yet know what it wants to do. But that recent front page ain't helping.

When asked for comment Larry Rudolph said, "I don't know where your information came from, but I can only tell you we're in the middle of recording an album. And you can quote me on that." That's not exactly denying any of the bad rumors, but let's hope she gets rest and back to work to create something exciting.

Britney's Singles Collection Is Coming Our Way After the Circus

Britney Spears continued enjoying time at home in LA, picking up a cartload of goodies from the supermarket yesterday before handing out tickets to last night's show at the Staples Center. It was a homecoming of sorts for Brit, after her travels around the world and across the country for her Circus tour. She doesn't have too much time to linger around the house, as she'll hit the stage in San Diego tonight before Las Vegas this weekend. Then it's off to Australia for Britney and her crew, and they'll wrap things up with a last performance in Brisbane on November 24 - the same day Jive Records will release the Britney Spears Singles Collection, a greatest hits album commemorating her 10 years in the business that also features one new song, which will hit airwaves on September 29.

Britney Loses Her Boys But Still Gets Her Coffee Fix

Britney Spears skipped out on the court hearing yesterday where she temporarily lost full custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James. Maybe she knew she was going to get terrible news but it's not like she stayed indoors to hide. Nope, Britney and her pooch went for a coffee run in the Valley. As for the rest of the Britney round up, well here it is:

OK Magazine begins the rumors that the starlet is headed to rehab this weekend.
Extra reports Alli moved out of Britney's house (moving truck and all).
However, TMZ reports Britney ended up at The Four Season hotel last night with her cousin Alli. They asked for a private room.
Britney's record label Jive who is still planning on a November 13th release date speaks out: "It's not Jive's place to fashion a public-relations campaign with respect to Britney's personal issues," label spokesman Allan Mayer said, "but Jive does care about her and does support her. Britney's a grown woman, and she makes her own choices, and we respect that. But she's been at a disadvantage [without a consistent team], and obviously that makes it harder to cope."

There always seems to be an endless amount of Britney stories to fill our day. Now if only she would channel that energy into something more positive like her family, career or charity (hey Paris is doing it!) then maybe we'd feel good about covering her every move.

Is K-Fed Finally Getting A Record Deal?

Is Jive records about to sign Kevin Federline to their label? Britney has been with Jive for years now. Maybe since she won't be doing an album anytime soon they have figured out some family deal. Kevin did just say that he was punking us with his PopoZao single. Maybe he will surprise us with something interesting like hanging out with his other two kids for the day. Gatecrasher reports:

Spies say that label-less rapper Kevin Federline took a meeting last week with Jive Records, the same company that has had a little success with a certain artist who's also in the household.

Britney Spears herself has said she's going to take a couple of years off from music to devote to her young family. That could leave the spotlight wide open for her husband.

"Nothing is definite yet, but it looks like K-Fed is going to keep it all in the family," says a source.

Britney's Bad Behavior Crushing Her Chances of a Comeback

Britney is turning into a total wreck. She went to Hyde again last night and it's looking like she got completely wasted. To give Brit the benefit of the doubt, maybe she's just having a hard time walking due to the massive amount of cameras around her. Still, the girl needs to put on a bra immediately! Besides disappointing us all by taking on a new BFF like Paris, Britney is starting to piss off her record label, Jive. Page Six reports:

Spears, who earlier in the month was hard at work in New York studios, has "been missing recent recording sessions because she has been out all night partying," said our spy. "The label [Jive] is very worried." Spears - who has been telling pals, "I gave birth for 21/2 years, and now I want to party" - also settled for second choice with managers. The pop tart is now managed by Larry Rudolph, but our insider said she first went to Christina Aguilera's starmaker, Irving Azoff, and he negged her because "Britney wanted to cheap him. She only wanted to give him 5 percent instead of 10. So she went with Larry."

Come on Brit! Please don't ruin your chances of a comeback. We're just hoping this is all over in a week and we can wake up from this holiday nightmare.

Britney & Her Comeback Album Go To The Birds

What does Britney need? Another living thing to take care of, obviously! She was out, Allie in tow (as if that needs to be said anymore), buying herself a pet bird at Petco yesterday afternoon. At least she looks happy? Unfortunately, things aren't sounding so happy with her supposed comeback record. Despite hearing yesterday that it contained a few sure hits, Britney's on-again-off-again publicist Leslie Sloane Zelnick is now saying the album has been delayed until 2008 at the earliest. She even issued this convoluted statement to Life & Style:

“I put her on hiatus,” Zelnik says. “Brit’s album is pushed until ’08. If she has no album, there’s no reason to do anything. I’m representing her in theory right now. I said that since the album is pushed back until ’08, let’s go on hiatus until we have a campaign to do.”

A music-industry insider says the album is delayed because Britney’s struggling creatively. "I'm surprised the album wasn't pushed back to ’09 - everything's up in the air with the album right now," the insider says. "Jive [Records, Brit's label] hated the songs Britney was coming up with, except for a few. The executives are not happy. And she didn't want to listen to anyone. Everything was a problem for her. They wanted her to work with certain people, and she wanted the opposite."

While Zelnick's statement is a little confusing, it doesn't sound like things are going well at the recording studio for Britney. Hopefully she won't scrap the idea all together -- we've been waiting too long to give up on her comeback just yet!

Britney's Blackout Is Coming Even Sooner

Britney was back in brown boots and a hot little red dress that she managed to make way sluttier than it needed to be (hello - bra please). We've been anxiously awaiting her new album, and all the early buzz has made her record label take action. Since many of her songs have already leaked online, Jive Records has decided to push up the release date of Blackout to Oct 30th, two weeks earlier than the original Nov 13th release date. Even if you weren't one of the many to download her Gimme More, the song is still doing really well on the charts. We're definitely interested to see if Blackout will be her comeback album.

Britney's Younger Motivation, Late Night Calls To Kevin

After her Saturday night birthday celebration, Britney spent her actual big day playing with SP and JJ. By last night, she was back to the Four Seasons. One of the bigger stories about Britney last week was why she was 12 hours late to shoot the video for her next single, "Piece of Me." At the time, the excuse for her tardiness was that she had her boys and Kevin refused to change visiting ours, but now Page Six is now reporting she only showed up when Jive threatened to give the video to Samantha Jade, an up and coming artist. Apparently the location and dancers were pretty pricey and rather than waste them, the record label wanted to get a good video out of it. Understandably, Brit wasn't about to let some hot young thing take her place. The gossip column also reports that at her birthday party, Britney borrowed Paris Hilton's cell phone to call Kevin and invite him out. He declined the offer.

There's never a shortage of Britney stories and there's never a shortage of people who want to read about them. The pop tart has once again been named Yahoo's No. 1 most searched for person in 2007. She's held the title for six out of the past seven years, coming in at No. 2 for 2004 after Paris Hilton.
