James Bond Hotties Daniel and Javier Announce the Start of Production, New Film Details!

Bond fans, rejoice! Work on the 23rd film in the series, Skyfall, has started, and the cast and crew gathered together in London for a photocall in celebration of the event. Leading man Daniel Craig joined up with director Sam Mendes and new Bond girls, France's Bérénice Marlohe and Britain's Naomie Harris, to smile for the cameras. James Bond villan Javier Bardem was there as well, lending his good looks to the cast.

Sam and the actors posed for photos then sat down for a press conference, which was planned to take place on the anniversary of the day that Sean Connery was announced as the first Bond. They also shared the official synopsis for the film, which is that, "Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. . . as MI6 comes under attack." Sam Mendes had more on the plot, saying, "It, I think, has all the elements of a classic Bond movie, including, to quell any rumors, a lot of action." Work on Bond 23 had been stalled for a long time due to financing problems at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios. Now, though, things are going into full gear with Sony and MGM financing the shoot in London, Shanghai, Istanbul, and Scotland with a release date next Fall.

Leonardo DiCaprio Suits Up For a Night Shoot With Armie Hammer

Clint Eastwood was behind the camera in LA yesterday to direct Leonardo DiCaprio on the set of J. Edgar. Leo kicked off the day lounging in a pair of white pajamas, later changing into a hot tux for a night shoot with The Social Network's Armie Hammer. We got a first look at Leo dressed up in his period costume earlier this week, and he was once again joined by costar Judi Dench. Leo's now fully focused on his movie with Clint, though he'll likely get a break in the coming weeks to support a past project. His Christopher Nolan-helmed Inception is nominated in the category of best picture at the Oscars, and we'll see if Leo makes his latest award season appearance on the 27th - in the meantime, make sure to fill out Buzz's ballot with your predictions for the year's Academy Award winners!

Nine Brings Many Out For a Star-Studded NYC Premiere!

The red carpet premiere of Nine in New York last night finally brought together virtually all the stars of the film. Fergie and Marion Cotillard contrasted their luscious brunette hair with white dresses in the chilly Winter night. Penelope Cruz matched the carpet in her deep red, though she didn't have her traveling partner and sexy couple companion Javier Bardem as her date. Nicole Kidman was busting out of her black strapless gown and Kate Hudson dazzled in her short in the front, long in the back frock. Amid persisting rumors of a split from Alex Rodriguez, Kate brought her mother Goldie Hawn to the event for their second night together.

Kate and her mom posed with Daniel Day-Lewis, but the stars of the movie weren't the only ones out to celebrate the musical. In fact, another woman who used to be very close to A-Rod, Madonna, brought a very adult looking Lourdes on the red carpet. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were side-by-side, with Ash carrying her amazing Hermes bag - enter to win a Birkin here! Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer were decked out and Naomi Watts rolled solo as they checked out the Golden Globe nominated performances and film.

Nicole, Penelope, and Kate Bring Their Flashy Nine to London

The ladies of Nine got all decked out to hit the red carpet in London this evening. Kate Hudson and Penelope Cruz were showstoppers in their dramatic gowns, while Nicole Kidman easily earned the title of leggiest look. Daniel Day Lewis sported his unique fashion sense surrounded by five of his women, including Judi Dench. Fergie missed the festivities after having to be in LA for the Grammy Nomination event last night, but there are more red carpets to come before their ensemble movie is out on Christmas day. Kate Hudson spent the morning doing some UK press after yesterday's sightseeing with Alex Rodriguez, though he's still not taking the red carpet duo plunge just yet.

Fergie, Nicole, Penelope, Marion, and Kate Are Five of the Nine

The many stars of Nine reunited in NYC today as they gear up to launch a press blitz before their film hits theaters on Dec. 18. Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard were spotted heading out of their hotel solo, just a few days after posing together at the weekend premiere of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. Nicole Kidman traveled to the Big Apple after a recent trip with Keith to Nashville, the place she says they love raising daughter Sunday. Fergie, meanwhile, was fresh off her appearance on Saturday Night Live with the Black Eyed Peas and a date night with her husband Josh, though he's already out on Long Island working on The Romantics with Katie Holmes. Kate Hudson also stepped out into the sunshine this afternoon, as she gets ready to switch gears from supportive girlfriend to leading lady.

Vogue Gets a Dose of Nine's Gorgeous Gals

Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Penelope Cruz, and Marion Cotillard grace the cover of Vogue's November issue in various shades of red to promote their highly anticipated Nine movie. We saw them at the Annie Leibovitz shoot back in February, and the final product looks beautiful. Inside the magazine all of the film's actresses, including Sophia Loren, Judi Dench, and Fergie, posed together. The article gives us a glimpse at how fun filming was for the girls, and Kate even described the experience as "Summer camp." Here are some highlights:

Penelope on her tortured character in the film: "Luckily I don't have to identify with my roles, because if I did I would be dead by now! I've been working since the age of seventeen, and I really haven't stopped. I want to balance it a little more. Instead of making three or four movies a year, I will do one."
Nicole on coming back to work after Sunday Rose: "I had no desire to work after I had my daughter, but to lure me back, this movie was the only way. [But] I'm not playing Claudia Cardinale. Even when I played Virginia Woolf I didn't take the real woman into account."
Kate on getting a role: "I spent most of my childhood singing and dancing and just never had the chance to do it professionally. So when I got the chance to work with Rob, I was so excited, I was out of my mind."

Quantum of Solace: Just an Action Flick

Where Casino Royale was bright, shiny and breathtaking, Quantum of Solace is cold, steely, and flat. Don't get me wrong - the explosions, gun play, and dry quips are all present and accounted for. But where there might've been a compelling narrative there's just a string of action sequences and chase scenes, interrupted by the occasional heart-to- cold, mistrusting spy heart. It's not bad, it's just that it seems like there's no real pulse beating behind Bond's deadly calm veneer.

Daniel Craig reprises his role as superspy James Bond, who is still consumed by anger at having been betrayed by Vesper Lynd, the woman he loved. Still, he wishes to take revenge on the company that blackmailed Vesper and in his search, he and M (Judi Dench) uncover the plans of Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), the shady leader of an environmentalist company, to take control of Bolivia's water supply from the equally shady General Medrano (Joaquín Cosio). In the midst of all this, Bond meets Camille (Olga Kurylenko), who has her own vengeful plan in mind for General Medrano. Camille and Bond then become partners in crime (literally) in their efforts to take down Dominic and Medrano. For some more of my take on all this,

read more. One of the things I like best about this movie is that the "Bond Girl" (Camille) isn't just there to sexily wield a gun and sleep with Bond. In fact, she has her own past and her own agenda - and it never includes sleeping with Bond. It’s rather refreshing, really, and hers is the story that intrigued me the most, by far. While it’s fun to see Bond kick some butt and continuously lock and load, it might have been fun to have had some more mystery in this story of our "international man of mystery," so to speak. There is, however, plenty of the "international": we leap and soar and zoom from country to country (each with its own font, a quirky touch), with little breathing room in between each location's requisite fight scene. In general, it would have been cool to have had some more scheming and more outwitting the opposition, and maybe less of a blindly rage-filled Bond just blowing away everyone and everything in his path. While that might have been the intention - to show how much Vesper’s death has messed with our hero and left him colder and crueler - it’s not altogether satisfying to watch for two hours. It is still a treat to see Daniel Craig onscreen, and the intense action scenes are sure to please many moviegoers, but expecting more than that may leave one disappointed.
