Kate Beckinsale always has perfect, glossy, frizz-free waves that break across her shoulders in just the right place. Clearly, having Frédéric Fekkai's Adir Abergel on hand is a big help, but there's also a trick to getting these kind of waves right. For Kate's hair at the Underworld: Awakening premiere, Abergel says that the key to creating her soft curls was starting low.

Specifically, he prepped the hair with the brand's Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel on the roots and the Highlight Care Illuminating Cream on the ends. After blow-drying, he then used a one-inch curling iron to wrap strands of Kate's hair starting two inches away from her roots. That way, she had a smooth-on-top look with silky waves below. It's a simple tip, but it makes a big difference. Abergel's other advice? For a look like this, curl away from your face.

Kate Beckinsale and Her Husband Len Wiseman Debut Their Latest Collaboration

Kate Beckinsale, in Jenny Packham, and her husband Len Wiseman cozied up on the black carpet at last night's Underworld: Awakening, held outside LA's Grauman's Chinese Theatre. It's the fourth film in the franchise, and it gave star Kate and writer Len yet another chance to work side-by-side. In previous installments of the series, Len has served as director. He was in that role when they first met on the set of the original Underworld back in 2003. They married in 2004.

It's been a busy week for Kate and Len, who kicked things off at Sunday's Golden Globes. They mingled at various afterparties, and then kept the socializing coming on a Tuesday double date with Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. John, Len, Kate, and Emily checked out a comedy show from The Office cocreator Stephen Merchant, and Colin Firth even joined in on the fun. Kate and Len may keep the good times rolling as they celebrate their movie's arrival in theaters today.

Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski had a double date last night with Kate Beckinsale and Len Wiseman. Earlier in the day, Emily took her Prius out to run errands solo, but by nighttime, she was ready to let loose with John and their pals. The foursome apparently checked out a comedy show at the Coronet Theatre. Comedian Stephen Merchant is playing a string of dates in Hollywood, and he's best known for creating the UK version of The Office with Ricky Gervais. Stephen also had a hand in adapting the US series, which John of course stars in as Jim Halpert.

The evening out with Len and Kate came after John and Emily spent New Year's with another famous couple. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski vacationed with Jimmy Kimmel and his girlfriend, Molly McNearney. Kate and Len enjoyed the low-key outing after a big weekend at the Golden Globes. Kate was one of the show's presenters, and was able to toast her movie Contraband's being at the top of the box office at various afterparties.

On Conan last night, she addressed Seth Rogen's erection joke at the Golden Globes by saying that she loves penis jokes and getting a jab in about Seth's, ahem, size. But then she took it even further by explaining that joking about genitals runs in the family (even her 13-year-old daughter gets in on the fun), and sharing a hilarious story about a giant fake penis she hid in her mom's luggage en route to the airport. InStyle hosted another of its famous post-Golden Globes bashes at the Beverly Hilton Hotel last night! As always, the magazine gathered some of the biggest stars from TV and film. Will Arnett and Amy Poehler joked around on the party's red carpet, while Sofia Vergara prepped to celebrate Modern Family's best comedy series win. Rachel Zoe wore a dress from her own collection to mingle with friends, and Orlando Bloom threw an arm around his Dolce and Gabbana-clad wife Miranda Kerr on the way inside.

Miranda and Orlando didn't have projects in the running last night, but they had plenty to toast anyway - Orlando had a birthday Friday, and Miranda was just named a new celebrity ambassador for Qantas Airways. They had plenty of famous pals to share Moët with last night, including Kate Beckinsale, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Zooey Deschanel. She was a best actress in a drama nominee for Young Adult, though the honor ended up going to The Iron Lady's Meryl Streep. Nonetheless, Charlize was in the mood to celebrate with her fellow best actress contender, The Help's Viola Davis. Leonardo DiCaprio also turned out on the special evening. He was up for best actor in a drama for J. Edgar, and that distinction would end up going to the hilarious The Descendants star George Clooney. Other stars let loose at the magazine's event with editor Ariel Foxman. Sofia Vergara toasted Modern Family's best TV comedy win with her pal Diddy, after they spent New Year's Eve together in Miami. Kate Beckinsale made the rounds, too, as did Jessica Chastain, Heidi Klum, and more!

Kate Beckinsale Has Lily and Len Along For a Family Trip

Kate Beckinsale held hands with her daughter, Lily Sheen, as they caught a flight with Kate's husband, Len Wiseman, yesterday. Len and Kate took a romantic vacation of their own back in October when they headed to Mexico, and this time around, had Lily by their sides as they left LAX. Kate and Len have been back on the West Coast recently after spending much of their Summer and early Fall in Toronto together for work, filming the remake of Total Recall along with Jessica Biel, Colin Farrell, and others. That film is expected to hit theaters in the Summer, but before that, Kate will return to the big screen in the Underworld franchise. Underworld: Awakening is hitting theaters in just a few short weeks on Jan. 20. Meanwhile, the actress and her family are taking advantage of the holiday lull to head out of town. Safe travels to the trio!
