Emma Stone, Kerry Washington, Viola Davis, and Octavia Spencer Celebrate The Help With Essence

Emma Stone, Viola Davis, and Octavia Spencer headed to the Beverly Hills Hotel for Essence magazine's annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon yesterday. The ladies of The Help also had costar Ahna O'Reilly on hand. Viola wore a dress by Victoria Beckham and Emma followed with her own neutral look by Elie Saab. Essence's current cover girl, Kerry Washington, joined the ladies in Cushnie Et Ochs and bright heels while her fellow Women in Hollywood honoree Paula Patton donned Marchesa. Octavia chose one of her red-carpet favorites, Tadashi Shoji, for the special event, which included a Whitney Houston tribute performance by Jordin Sparks.

It's been an exciting award season for The Help so far and Emma, Viola, Octavia, and Ahna will continue the fun at this Sunday's Oscars. In addition to individual nominations for Octavia, Viola, and Jessica Chastain, The Help is up for best picture. Beyoncé Knowles and her pal Kelly Rowland hung out at Oakdale Mobile Home Park in South Brunswick, NJ, last night to shoot a new music video! They were decked out in sequins and fur to record the visuals for "Party," a track off Beyoncé's album 4, with Solange Knowles there, too. A lot of the action centered around Beyoncé singing in an Airstream, surrounded by brightly dressed dancers. It was an evening of working on her own music for Beyoncé after she spent Tuesday focusing on Jay-Z's. Beyoncé and Kelly went to a Watch the Throne listening party thrown by Jay and Kanye West at the Hayden Planetarium.

Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z both had social evenings yesterday, despite being a continent apart. He stepped out to have dinner in LA with pal Aziz Ansari at Katsuya while Beyoncé met up with friends in NYC. She joined her old Destiny's Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, for a bash at the Standard Hotel's Moet Rosé Lounge. The party was organized to honor Kelly's new album Here I Am, and she was recently on Vibe's August cover to chat about the music. Kelly also talked about moving on from her work with Beyoncé and her dad Matthew Knowles, who was both of the ladies' manager for a time. Kelly said of her European fans, "People still compare me to B over there. I said in an interview recently, 'You know, if you guys would be a little bit more intelligent and ask me about myself we’ll have a much better interview.' You can’t want a story from me and keep asking me about the past." Despite wanting to move on, it seems Beyoncé, Kelly, and Michelle could have a reunion in the works. They were photographed together at the Billboard Music Awards in May, and there were rumors about a possible onstage collaboration during Glastonbury as well.

The BET Awards celebrated the largest names in hip-hop and R&B with wild fashion, high-energy dance routines, and a mini scandal at LA's Shrine Auditorium last night. The show kicked off with a mashup of hits from Mary J. Blige before the awards were dished out to the night's winners. Taking a break from touring with Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj joined Justin Bieber to present the best male hip-hop artist award to Kanye West. Nicki didn't go home empty handed as she took home the honors for best female hip-hop artist. Justin was without his girlfriend, Selena Gomez, but he was in the company of pals Jaden and Willow Smith, who stepped out with their parents, Will and Jada, and the siblings shared the win in the young stars category.

The night was full of incredible performances including a medley of hits and the debut of a new single, "Typewriter," from Alicia Keys, who was also marking the 10-year anniversary of her mega hit album Songs in A Minor. Most of the evening went down without a hitch, but there was a critical mix-up in BET's viewer's choice category when Chris Brown was announced the winner, then it was switched to Rihanna and Drake. Turns out Chris was the actual winner, and the error was due to teleprompter confusion, though Drake admittedly felt "awkward" about the error. Chris finished out the evening with four awards while Jennifer Hudson grabbed the win for best female R&B artist and Patti LaBelle was recognized with a lifetime achievement award - get the full list of BET winners here!
