Ladies Bring Glamour to the White House Correspondents' Dinner Carpet

Washington DC got a big dose of Hollywood glamour as stars stepped out for the White House Correspondents' Dinner Saturday. The annual event, which is being hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, kicked off with multiple preparties Friday night, and celebs were back on the red carpet for this evening's main event. Dakota Fanning got dramatic in a long-sleeve Prada gown, while Malin Akerman went with a sexy white look. Claire Danes wowed in a white Vivienne Westwood and Eva Longoria, who just wrapped the final season of Desperate Housewives, went short.

Elizabeth Banks brought a pop of color in a strapless red dress, and Kerry Washington followed suit in a melon-hued Calvin Klein. The bright looks kept coming with Alicia Keys, on the arm of husband Swizz Beatz in gold, and Kate Hudson in a sparkly purple Jenny Packham and an Edie Parker clutch. Kim Kardashian, who spent the morning in NYC with new boyfriend Kanye West, stepped out in emerald while her mom, Kris Jenner, wore crimson.

Reese Witherspoon covered her baby bump in a black Monique Lhuillier gown after landing on the East Coast with husband Jim Toth Friday night. Sofia Vergara, who was also on hand for Friday's Hollywood Reporter bash, went short and accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Lindsay Lohan made an appearance in a low-cut look after missing her first flight to the East Coast, and Charlize Theron got sexy in a lace Emilio Pucci gown.

Emma Stone, Viola Davis, and Octavia Spencer headed to the Beverly Hills Hotel for Essence magazine's annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon yesterday. The ladies of The Help also had costar Ahna O'Reilly on hand. Viola wore a dress by Victoria Beckham and Emma followed with her own neutral look by Elie Saab. Essence's current cover girl, Kerry Washington, joined the ladies in Cushnie Et Ochs and bright heels while her fellow Women in Hollywood honoree Paula Patton donned Marchesa. Octavia chose one of her red-carpet favorites, Tadashi Shoji, for the special event, which included a Whitney Houston tribute performance by Jordin Sparks.

It's been an exciting award season for The Help so far and Emma, Viola, Octavia, and Ahna will continue the fun at this Sunday's Oscars. In addition to individual nominations for Octavia, Viola, and Jessica Chastain, The Help is up for best picture. Honoree Paula Patton walked the carpet in a sultry, body-conscious cap-sleeve Marchesa dress with metallic silver pumps and a sexy red pout. Emma Stone looked sweet in a full-skirted, white embroidered frock from Elie Saab's Spring 2012 Haute Couture collection, finishing the look with nude Brian Atwood pumps and a Ferragamo clutch, while Kerry Washington upped the ante on her Cushnie et Ochs peplum skirt suit by pairing it with bright red Brian Atwood heels and a colorful magazine clutch. Jessica Alba and Cash Warren were among the famous guests who turned out last night for "An Evening With Ralph Lauren," which was hosted by Oprah Winfrey at NYC's Lincoln Center. Other ladies who love Ralph's designs, like Naomi Watts, Uma Thurman, and Kerry Washington, hit the blue carpet solo. Jerry Seinfeld and his wife Jessica posed as a pair. Ralph had the support of his family at the event, which was a benefit for the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention and Lincoln Center, including sons Andrew and David, daughter Dylan, and wife Ricky. David, who married Lauren Bush just over a month ago, proudly sported his new ring as he and his wife mingled and said hi to Naomi.

Ralph and Oprah sat on stage to talk about the designer's lengthy career, and what continues to inspire him. Naomi Watts shared her thoughts on Ralph's body of work as well. She said, "He's been famous for so long. I grew up following him. Ralph Lauren is a great American icon, and he's here along with another great American icon. It's my pleasure to be here."
