Robert Pattinson Doesn't Let the Rain Dampen His Spirits on Set!

Robert Pattinson was back in his tux this morning for more filming on the Budapest set of Bel Ami. He's been hard at work on the movie for the past week in Hungary, where he traveled after getting a little time off to hang out with his friends in London. He was joined by costar Kristin Scott Thomas once again to film a scene in artificial rain, but fortunately Rob's top hat and umbrella should have done the trick and kept him dry. Rob's all about his current ladies' man role, but it's his die-hard Twilight fans keeping him in the lead in his current PopSugar 100 matchup against Katherine Heigl - make sure to fill out your whole ballot and enter the running to win a hot piece from Chanel!

Robert Pattinson's Only Acting Mad While Filming Bel Ami With Kristin Scott Thomas

Robert Pattinson started his weekend in London by taking in a play and grabbing beers with friends, but yesterday he was already in Budapest to continue working on Bel Ami. He wore the old-timey costume that you guys are loving to film a tense-looking scene with costar Kristin Scott Thomas, after which Robert took a minute to peacefully and literally stop to smell some roses. Robert's all about his new lothario role, but just two weeks ago he was on the red carpet to promote the UK release of Remember Me. Easy Virtue: Sparkling Cast Can't Help the Center Star

Easy Virtue, a film adaptation of Noel Coward's jazzy 1920s-set play, pits the old traditions of Europe's landowning gentry against the brash modernity that America had come to symbolize. The old guard is represented by a wealthy British family led by the brittle matriarch Mrs. Whittaker (Kristin Scott Thomas). When her son, John Whittaker (Ben Barnes), marries a sexy race car driver named Larita (Jessica Biel) several years his elder, the entire family is thrown into a tizzy.

Once Biel's character arrives at the Whittaker home she's meant to represent a vibrant and mesmerizing new way of doing things that is utterly offensive to this family so steeped in tradition. But alas, Ms. Biel doesn't quite have what it takes to hold down the center of a film like this and the whole endeavor suffers. To see why,

The cast includes the kind of immensely talented actors who can take on the old-fashioned, quick and witty dialogue with one hand tied behind their backs. Biel tries to keep up and at times she succeeds, but most of the time she simply appears to be swimming upstream. As you might expect, Kristin Scott Thomas deliciously inhabits her icy character with ease and delivers each line as a stinging backhanded compliment. Colin Firth plays her long-suffering husband still hurting from memories of war, and delivers an incredibly funny yet soulful performance. Even Ben Barnes, who is handsome but stiff in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, displays pizzazz as the prodigal son returning home.

As the movie clicks along, though, more and more is asked of Biel as she navigates the cruel and ruthless landmines set out for her by her new mother-in-law and sisters-in-law, and she's not quite able to rise to the occasion. As the tone shifts in the final act from a comedy of manners to a darker drama, the talented ensemble cast does all it can to prop the movie up, but the center can't hold in the end.

Talk about poor planning. Actresses Kristin Scott Thomas and Natalie Portman both showed up to the 2008 Cannes Film Festival in blue Lanvin dresses. It's bad enough that they're both wearing the same designer to the same premiere, but throw on top of it the fact that they're the same shade of blue. At least there's one difference: Kristin's is long and flowy, while Natalie's is short and fun. Who wins this blue Lanvin battle?

Robert Pattinson Shows Off His Buzz Cut During His Bel Ami Morning

Robert Pattinson showed off a hot buzz cut this morning in Berlin. He arrived in Germany just yesterday, after catching a flight to Europe from LA. Rob linked up with his Bel Ami costars Christina Ricci and Holliday Grainger for an early morning press conference about their movie. They'll also be together this evening when they hit the red carpet for the movie's world premiere. Robert worked on the movie back in 2010, along with their other leading ladies Kristin Scott Thomas and Uma Thurman. The project will finally hit big screens here in the US on March 2.

Robert Pattinson Packs His Bags and Heads Out of LAX

A fresh-faced Robert Pattinson departed out of LAX tonight carrying two bags. The actor is likely heading to Germany where his drama Bel Ami is schedule to premiere Friday night at the Berlin Film Festival. This year's competition has already played host to some of Hollywood's biggest stars like Angelina Jolie, Diane Kruger, and Meryl Streep. Rob shares the big screen with Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman, and Kristin Scott Thomas in the historical drama and we got a glimpse of the ladies vying for his love and attention in the Bel Ami's sexy trailer. The film opens in the UK on Feb. 22 followed by a US release on March 2.
