Courtney's Cleaning Out Kurt's Closet

Courtney Love spent time with Kimberly Stewart at Coachella this weekend showing off her new body. Looks like she's going to be pretty busy once she gets back to LA as well. She told Spinner.com that she's planning to sell off Kurt Cobain's belongings, twelve years after his suicide in 1994. Here's more:

"I'm going to have a Christie's auction....[My house] is like a mausoleum."

"My daughter doesn't need to inherit a giant Hefty bag full of flannel f---ing shirts," Love says. "A sweater, a guitar and the lyrics to '[Smells Like] Teen Spirit' – that's what my daughter gets. And the rest of it we'll just f---ing sell."

According to Love, her friends are supportive of the idea. "Everyone's been positive and behind me on it," she says. "We'll make a lot of money and give a bunch of it to charity."

Even though it's been twelve years, it's still pretty surprising that she would sell most of his stuff. Hopefully it's a sign that she's moving on with her life, in a healthy way of course. She isn't letting him go completely, however, she says she still wears his pajamas to bed every night!

Francis Bean's Dramatic Entrance

Clown reminiscent make-up aside, Courtney Love seems to want to get her act together, but somehow her past keeps catching up with her. An upcoming biography of Nirvana details the crazy drama of the day that her daughter, Francis Bean, was born. It's disturbing, to say the least. Page Six reports:

In "Nirvana - The Biography," author Everett True describes how Cobain and Love both ended up at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. within days of each other in August 1992 - the grunge rocker checking in for a 60-day heroin detox stint and Love, a few days later, for complications arising from her pregnancy.

Two weeks into his stay, Love found herself about to go into labor. According to True: "Courtney - never one to miss an opportunity for drama - grabbed her intravenous drip stand at 4 in the morning, and wheeled it down the corridors to where Kurt was staying. 'You get out of out of this bed and come down now!' she screamed. 'You are not leaving me to do this by myself, [bleep] you!'

"Her husband followed her to the delivery room - weakened from his treatment, and hooked up to an IV stand himself - and passed out just moments before Frances was born." Then things got even weirder when, as Courtney related to True, "I'm having the baby, it's coming out, [Kurt's] puking, he's passing out and I'm holding his hand and rubbing his stomach while the baby's coming out."

Dear lord, how has Francis Bean ended up as grounded as she seems? Honestly, I would understand any level of instability from her, but she seems to be a relatively normal teenager. Well, we suppose someone's got to keep Courtney in check.

Dr. Marten has publicly apologized for publishing the series of ads featuring Kurt Cobain and other deceased musicians wearing their shoes in heaven. Here are the scans from Teen Vogue we wrote about where Frances declared her individuality. She said,

"I'm a different person," the 13-year-old tells Teen Vogue in the magazine's upcoming issue. "I don't want to be titled as Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain's daughter. I want to be thought of as Frances Cobain."

"I don't like to look sloppy. I'm a girly-girl," says Cobain.

She doesn't like it when her mom looks sloppy, either. "I prefer when she's more 'classy starlet'" - think Love's 1997 Versace-engineered Oscar makeover - "I don't really like her hard-metal stuff, or when she doesn't brush her hair."

I love how girly she is!

Britney Spears headed into the gym again yesterday, and while the rumor of a VMA performance has been squashed, it seems there is always another one just around the corner. According to In Touch, a NY Times bestselling author who made his name writing a book about Kurt Cobain, has made Britney his newest target. He supposedly worked as an undercover photographer for 18 months to gather all kinds of juicy details about her history of breakdowns and writes about why her streak of good behavior might just be a phase. Britney's past drama has never been a secret, but we're still hoping that she can turn things around permanently for the future.

Jessica Alba Can Put Asses in the Seats

Jessica Alba, who we're more used to seeing daily in her workout gear and growing baby bump, looks glam and fun in February's Elle Magazine. Just about the only unexpected skin she's showing off, however, is the tattoo on the back of her neck. Unfortunately, the interview took place before she was openly pregnant so we'll have to wait to hear her gush about that, instead she talks about - what else - her sexuality and Zac Efron. Here are highlights:

On using her sex appeal in her career: “I think there are ambitious girls who will do anything to be famous, and they think men in this business are used to women doing that. . . . Contrary to how people may feel, I've never used my sexuality. That's not part of it for me. When I'm in a meeting, I want to tell you why I'm an asset, how I'm a commodity, how I can put asses in the seats, not, 'There's a chance you're going to be able to f*** me.' That's never been my deal.”
On turning 27: “I'm anticipating it . . . I'm feeling old, yes . . . 27 was when Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, and Jim Morrison all died.”
On meeting Zac Efron: “He looks like a child with a lot of makeup. I was like, 'My God, you're just a little kid.'”

While the first part is pretty standard fare coming from Jessica these days, I will admit that Efron quote is kind of hilarious. It'll be interesting to see how her image and maybe even acting roles change once she's a mom. I guess that's one pretty surefire way for her to get people to look at her as more than a sexual object.

The Courtney Love Diaries

Courtney Love is clean and sober and out promoting her new tell-all memoir called "Dirty Blonde: The Diaries of Courtney Love." In the book she talks all about her past, including Kurt Cobain, daughter Frances Bean and her famous drug addiction. Here's more:

Now sober for 15 months, Love writes that if she could, she'd put "a black page in this book and just write 2001 to 2004 across it," because "I was on drugs and nothing I wrote made any sense."

Love says another troubled star helped her seek rehab and get clean.

Love was holed up in a fancy hotel room in Beverly Hills, doing drugs, when Mel Gibson and addiction counselor Warren Boyd knocked on the door.

"Mel kept coming to the door with this cheesy grin going, 'Hi!'" Love said. "I just kept looking at him going, 'Blank off!' … I know him and he's a nice guy, but it just didn't matter who it was. It could have been Jesus. I didn't care."

But the men doing drugs with Love recognized Gibson and left with him to get a cheeseburger. That gave Boyd the opportunity to get into the room and coax her into rehab.

Mel to the sober rescue. Somewhat ironic isn't it? Well let's hope Courtney stays sober for Frances at least.
