LC Struts Her LA Stuff

Lauren Conrad looked gorgeous showing off a few sassy Summer outfits for a photoshoot with LA Direct Magazine. The California girl is just as sunny in her interview as she is in the photos, talking about her great year and how far she's come since her days on Laguna Beach. Here are highlights:

“I always say this isn’t what I signed up for. I thought I signed up for a one-episode documentary."
“I feel like [the show] makes me look like I sit around all day and feel sorry for myself, but I’m actually a very happy person. Sometimes I want to reach into the TV and smack myself, and say ‘get over it.’”
“It’s been a crazy four years, but they’ve been amazing. I got to travel all around the world. I’ve met so many cool people. I’ve had all these opportunities. I’m really lucky. You got to take the good with the bad.”

Lauren has come a long way since those Laguna Beach days, but it's refreshing to hear her sound so grounded and humble. Plus, we love to hear that she's more upbeat than it sometimes seems on her show.

Ben Threatens to do Baywatch

Ben was looking wonderful last night at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in LA. We just heard him gushing to Ellen about Violet and Jen. Now he's threatening to play David Hasselhoff and throw on some Speedos. He is looking super svelte in these pics.... maybe he could pull of the Speedo look but we sure hope he doesn't go down that road. Here's more:

BEN AFFLECK has warned movie bosses he'll star in the BAYWATCH movie adaptation if they don't give him another directing job. The PEARL HARBOR star is desperate to quit acting so he can concentrate on working behind the camera instead. And he's given producers an ultimatum - either employ him again after seeing his directing talents in forthcoming release GONE, BABY, GONE, or he'll shamelessly take on DAVID HASSELHOFF's role in Baywatch. He tells Hotdog magazine, "I hope that people like the movie enough that they would hire me to direct another movie. "If not, it's strapping on those Speedos, getting on a surfboard and doing the film adaptation of Baywatch."

First off - yes it is called Hotdog Magazine - it's a UK thing and it is real. It really does exist. As for Ben, It will be interesting to see if he can make the transition to a director, but we hope he doesn't disappear from in front of the cameras forever. C.A. Confidential

Casey Affleck perfected his smoldering stare on the red carpet for the LA Confidential party last night in honor of his magazine cover. The adorably smug actor made some big waves this year with his performances in Gone Baby Gone and The Assassination of Jesse James, and he's got the award nominations to show for it, snagging a nod for a Golden Globe, a SAG award, and an Oscar among all the other board award recognitions. In the article, Casey strays from the wisecracking smartass we've come to know and instead gets serious about making his family his number one priority and what projects he has in the works. Here are highlights:

On getting attention for his nominations and new baby: It doesn’t feel so much that way . . . life just goes on. As your family grows, they wind up being the center of attention. More than anything, I’ve gotten a lot of phone calls of congratulations, which is nice.
On Aardvark's Art Ark, the animated film he wrote and will executive produce: I just really like those kinds of movies. There ought to be more adult films that are animated - not just kids’ movies. There are really great things you can’t do with live action. Every year Pixar comes out with one of my favorite movies. . . . My project is intended for kids and adults. I’m really excited to be developing it with Warner Bros. I’d heard nightmare stories, but this has been great. It started as a story I was telling to my son and nephews. . . . It happened fast and was fun to do. It’s nice to write and not think about wanting to act in it or direct it.

As much as we love Ben, it seems like Casey is the Affleck to watch right now. Even so, we'll be looking forward to seeing both brothers on the red carpet at the SAG Awards and (hopefully) at the Academy Awards next month. P.S.
