VH1 Divas: Miley Calls Kanye Disrespectful, True Blood's Sam Takes on Twilight's Jacob, and Paula Channels Ellen!

The star-studded VH1 Divas kicked off last night at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and new diva-inductees like Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, Miley Cyrus, and Kelly Clarkson walked the red carpet in their glamorous gowns. Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port looked gorgeous and sparkly, and we'll have more on LC's possible LA Candy movie deal later. Miley weighed in on the Taylor/Kanye incident, calling him out as disrespectful. Kelly also had some things to say about it as well as the Paula/Ellen change on American Idol. Sam Trammell, who plays Sam Merlotte on True Blood, also told us he thinks his shape-shifter character could take on Taylor Lautner's Jacob - check out the interviews below!

Paula Abdul opened the night with a surprise performance and jokingly introduced the live show saying "I'm Paula Abdul and this is NOT American Idol." Later in the night she came out dressed as Ellen DeGeneres, dancing across the stage before saying "All kidding aside - [I have] nothing but love for Ellen, and I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig." There were many performances and duets to enjoy, like Jennifer Hudson and Stevie Wonder, as well as solos by all the divas like Jordin Sparks. Miley on Taylor/Kanye VMA incident: "I think it's just disrespectful so I think the best thing is - I probably would have done what [Taylor] did and just walk away from it because she looks better than he does."
Sam on Sam Merlotte vs. Jacob Black: "Is he tall? I think he's really tall . . . Oh is that just in the movie? I could probably take him because I could just turn into some huge animal and just take him. Yeah, I could just turn into a big bull and take him."
Kelly on whether she has words of encouragement for Taylor Swift: "I don't think she needs any. She handled it really well and she's just a really sweet girl. I love Taylor and she knows I do. I keep asking her to write me some songs, I love her writing. The whole situation in general was the straw that broke the camel's back. Not only that situation. Unfortunately Kanye was the straw that broke the camel's back. But there's a lot of crappy things that go on in the industry and it's just not right. This is supposed to be fun. We're not scientists, we're not doing anything mind-blowing. We should all be having fun and complimenting each other and lifting each other up. I don't get it."
Kelly on taking stage with Paula, and Paula leaving Idol: "I'm used to that! We've been doing off and on for seven years; we all end up at the same shows. So I'm so used to seeing her everywhere. I don't even know enough about [Paula leaving Idol] but I think she's probably ready. I mean they've done like nine seasons. It's pretty cool she's going off and doing something on her own and right after it she's hosting VH1 Divas. Oh my God, she's performing and I saw rehearsals and it's insane. I'm like a 12-year-old again and singing 'Straight Up.' We're all dying backstage."

NPH Entertains an Exuberant Crowd at the Tonys

Neil Patrick Harris donned a shiny tux and a big smile, hosting the Tony Awards last night at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. Broadway veteran John Stamos and newcomer Anne Hathaway were among the stars who stepped out to present awards. Dolly Parton, Stockard Channing and Elton John took the stage, as well as Bret Michaels who injured himself during the big opening number. Liza Minnelli beat out Will Ferrell's George Bush impersonation for Best Special Theatrical Event - see all the winners here - but Will didn't seem to mind as he and the rest of the audience enjoyed a night filled with music and laughter.

MLP, Alec, Whoopi, and Daniel Help Everything Come Up Tony

Radio City Music Hall was bursting with stars of the stage last night at the 2008 Tony Awards. The glitz and glamour were everywhere as some of the biggest names in Broadway came together to celebrate each other. Mary-Louise Parker was a highlight as usual, though I'm not sure what to say about the Counting Crows' Adam Duritz on her arm. Instead, I'll just get more excited that Weeds is back tonight! Alec Baldwin always looks dapper all dressed up, while Daniel Radcliffe made a surprise appearance before he makes his (naked) Broadway debut. Whoopi Goldberg - wearing Christian Siriano! - hosted the evening, helping hand out the biggest awards to In the Heights for best musical and August: Osage County for best play. Madonna and Guy Revolve Around Each Other

Madonna walked the red carpet last night in support of her husband Guy Ritchie's Revolver screening in NYC. Also out for the party was a semi-random smattering of celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker, Barbara Walters, Steve Buscemi and Josh Groban. Madonna and Guy left their little ones at home for their night out on the town, and it looks like Madge and SJP were dressed for different climates entirely. This may not be my favorite look for, well, any of them, but considering this array of icons there's no complaining.

Fashion Week Starts Off With a Big (Red) Bang

Today is National Red Day, and the runway at NY Fashion Week certainly reflected that. Jenna Fischer and Sara Ramirez were happy to add a modeling gig to their resumes for the good cause, alongside seasoned veteran Heidi Klum at the Heart Truth Red Dress Collection fashion show. Chris Noth looked a little confused over at the Nautica show, but maybe he was just blinded by all the beautiful ladies and designs. Project Runway's Christian was there to check out the fierce looks coming from Perry Ellis before the big PR show next week, which lucky girls Fab and Bella get to go to. Hairspray Can't Stop The Beat In NYC, With Katie Holmes Surprise!

It was the LBD brigade at last night's NYC premiere of Hairspray. Michelle once again looked absolutely phenomenal. What is it about her -- lucky lucky eternally 25! It's always a treat to see the stars of the film, but Holy Katie Holmes! Yowza! She surprised the crowd just by showing up, but seeing her in that skin tight little number is what is more shocking for me. I do love seeing her with little Suri all the time, but youthful happy Katie is awesome to see, too. All the other ladies -- Amanda, Nikki, Queen -- looked outstanding as well, especially little Brittany Snow who looks a whole lot better than last week's too yellow number.
