Leighton Gets Lucky and Loves It

Leighton Meester took her turn as cover model for a change - instead of the usual Gossip Girl darling Blake Lively - for the August issue of Lucky. She showed off her dimples, adorable smile and exactly none of that trademark Blair Waldorf bitchiness. In fact, she's just grateful for everything she's got going right now. In the magazine, she says, "I know it’s corny to say. … I love my life right now. The fashion alone is pretty unbelievable." That doesn't seem corny at all. In fact that might just be why she's - gasp! - maybe my favorite Gossip Girl of all.

Winona Shares A Lot About Her Private Life

Winona Ryder sat down for a photo shoot and chatted about her life in the latest issue of BlackBook magazine. She has a film, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee to promote, but Winona had plenty of other things to discuss. Winona talked about a variety of topics, from her famous exes like Matt Damon and Johnny Depp to her feelings about Angelina Jolie winning the Oscar for Girl, Interrupted. Here's more:

On dating Johnny Depp: "Things changed for me when I met Johnny. This weird thing happens when you’re written about in magazines, where you start to think, 'This is who I am. This is how I have to be.' I felt restricted and pressured into being the way people perceived me. It was hard for me to find my footing. The Johnny thing made me really afraid of the press because, even though it was about him, I was beside him the entire time."
On her relationship with Matt Damon: "Matt couldn’t be a greater, nicer guy. I’m really lucky that I’m on good terms with him. . . With Johnny, it’s like we’re good, but we lead very different lives. I was out at a bar with a friend who said, 'Do you realize that in America you’re never going to be able to meet a guy who knows nothing about you? Everyone will have preconceived ideas about who you are.' I got so bummed out. I’d never really thought about it that way."
On knowing Angelina Jolie since Girl, Interrupted: "I never had any bad feelings about Angelina. . . And I was hurt that people thought that. Everyone assumed I was really jealous because I thought this would be my vehicle. . . We said from the very beginning that the actress who played Lisa would probably win an Oscar, because it was the big, great, showy part. But I always related to Susanna. I fought very hard for her to have that part, and I never really felt like I got the chance to know her."

Rachel's Got Her Fashion Sense in the Bag

Rachel Bilson stopped to feed the meter before grabbing a cup of coffee with friends in LA yesterday. The petite starlet accessorized her casual outfit with the same Phillip Lim gold studded bag she wore to the Lucky Magazine event Tuesday evening. Bilson's a fan of mixing and matching trendy with vintage just like some of the other Hollywood starlets with similarly impressive style.

Hollywood Comes Out to Get Lucky in LA

Lauren Conrad hit the red carpet alongside a bevy of beautiful ladies for the Lucky Magazine and Madewell Fall Denim Tour at the Bar Marmont last night in LA. Hollywood starlets from all over TV and film came out to celebrate the new line of denim, although for most of the atendees, short skirts were the dress code for the evening. Kristen Bell looked like the picture of health in her layered look, while Mandy Moore showed of yet another new hair transformation. Rachel Bilson traded in her casual wellies for worn-in black boots, striking a pose after walking the red carpet. Katie Cassidy joined the rest of the ladies as another new episode of Melrose Place aired - though it's still not as scandalous as 90210.

Michelle Gives Vogue Her First Post-Heath Interview

Michelle Williams graces the cover of Vogue's October issue, opening up about Heath Ledger for her first magazine interview since his death. The actress looks gorgeous as she promotes her pushed-back Shutter Island and provides us an in-depth look at how she and Matilda are dealing with their life after Heath's passing. She reveals she is no longer dating Spike Jonze, but sounds like she's staying strong as a single parent. Here's more:

On dealing with Heath's death: "I have been severely accident-prone over the past 12 months. I fell downstairs, broke a toe, put my fingers in a blender - seriously distracted. [I would often] cry, nap, sit and stare, try to figure out what to make [Matilda] for dinner, talk to friends on the phone. I was holding it together by a string and a paper clip in the Fall and Winter. I didn’t know if I could keep it all together."
On grieving with Matilda: "I just don’t see the upside to this. You console yourself by saying it’s all a deepening process. But it’s weird. After the first year, the pain is less intense; it’s less immediate. But the magical thinking goes away, too. And that’s a whole new reckoning. But every time I really miss him and wonder where he’s gone, I just look at her."
On splitting with Spike Jonze: "The timing was impossible. I thought falling in love again was the only thing that was going to save me from the pain. This erroneous idea: it just makes things more complicated."

On before Heath died: "Brokeback Mountain was an unrepeatable moment in time, a very charmed time in my life. I was in love; I was in a movie I was proud to be a part of, and with a beautiful brand-new baby. Everything was good in that moment. [After we split I started filming a movie in Sweden because] I just didn’t want to be at home. Geography is a great solution for heartbreak."
On waiting so long before she started to do interviews: "I didn’t know what my boundaries were for a long time, which made interviews feel very unsafe. I can talk about grief, because that’s mine; about single parenting; about trying to balance work and kids. But what I don’t have to talk about is what happened between Heath and me in our relationship."
On dating while having a daughter: "I obviously don’t know how to [date with a child, but] I’m falling more and more in love with her and I think she deserves the bulk of my attention. We’re lucky. I can work. She can go to a good school. There’s a lot there for her. And she can know her dad in so many ways, and so many of his friends who will be able to tell her so many stories. His friends, his family - they were a big part of his life, and they will be a big part of her life."
On her future: "I feel hopeful and grateful. For a while I thought we had lost everything. It makes you want to love better and live better and treat people better.There is a great Gloria Steinem quote - and I’m paraphrasing - ‘Become the man you want to marry.’ I’ve taken that on. What qualities do I find attractive, and can I find them in myself? What am I missing? Can I be that for myself?"

Teen Vogue Joins Team Jacob With Taylor's October Cover

Taylor's chatted with a few magazines in advance of New Moon's release this November, and this time he opened up about his fame, love life, and even Rob and Kristen's rumored relationship. On the kind of girls who like Jacob: "If she likes having a really close friendship with a guy . . . being able to tell him anything, and then having that friendship slowly transform into something more . . . I find myself using the word transform a lot lately because that's what Jacob does."
On his having the role: "I think the fans would love anybody who played Jacob. I'm just lucky to be the one who got the chance."
On Selena Gomez: "She's a great girl."
On all the speculation about Robert and Kristen: "It's crazy. But the fans help. They're a big part of the motivation."

On Adventureland: "With Adventureland, and pretty much everything else I’ve done, I’ve been lucky because they’re characters I really identified with. Sometimes, I’ll read something and it has something about it that makes you need to live it, and if you don’t, it’s like an unconsummated relationship."
On the downside of fame: "Anything you say can come and bite you in the ass. It’s not even like you say things you don’t mean, it’s just that sometimes they come out wrong."On the paparazzi: "The fact is, the paparazzi and most interviewers, they want your soul. It’s so scary because your persona . . . and I guess I now have one, because people think of me in a certain way . . . is all based entirely on quick snippets of crazed moments in your life. And that is what people then base their entire opinion of me on!"

Rachel's Taking Risks All Over the Place

Rachel Bilson scored the cover of the March issue of Lucky, and we're thinking her little purple dress is an improvement over the patriotic bikini she wore for GQ. She's been everywhere lately talking about her new movie, Jumper, and in the article she compares her experience doing stunts to putting together her envy-inducing style. She says, "I had to surrender control and let go of a lot of fears; it had a big impact on my life. I've noticed even with clothes, I'm more experimental and trying to take risks, but still feel like myself." Even when talking about her sci-fi flick, Rachel still sounds like that Summer Roberts California girl we fell in love with years ago.

Lucky Magazine Loves Mandy

We were definitely very excited to hear about Mandy's big appearance on How I Met Your Mother, but while we're waiting she continues to crank out fashion advice and promote her new clothing line, Mblem. Looking ever so stylish on the cover of Lucky (for at least her third time!), Mandy talks about her favorite finds and how she's mixing things up. She said,

"I woke up one morning and realized I'd become totally stuck in a rut. I can get very lazy, wearing just jeans all the time. So I'm really challenging myself to try more glamorous, girly things with a lot of bright color."

Mandy has definitely been staying true to her word - lately it seems like she's always sporting cute dresses and high heels. Perhaps girly Mandy has taken over and is here to stay.
