Blake Lively Opens Up About Her Private Lives in Marie Claire

Blake Lively showed off a selection of sexy black bras for December's Marie Claire. It's been a busy year for the star, as she juggled her day job on Gossip Girl with film projects like The Town. Blake opened up to the magazine about her TV show and another of her movies, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, also sharing a little about her personal style. Here's more:

On her first day on set with Maria Bello: "I was honestly terrified. I hadn't slept that much, and all I wanted that day was for Maria to say, 'Wow, great job.' And when she didn't say anything to me, I thought, Oh, my gosh, I'm terrible. She hates it. She's calling her agent, saying, 'What have you gotten me into?' But once we finished filming, she was so complimentary and sweet. The way Maria worked was very method, and then [costar] Julianne Moore was the complete opposite - between takes, she was a nice, normal mom talking about her kid's baseball games."
On Serena van der Woodsen: "As a character, I get to be this wild, outgoing person that I'm so not. I think it all comes from being the youngest of five. I was always observing my siblings and hearing stories about their lives that turned out to be helpful as an actress."
On her personal style: "Living in New York, I feel stronger and more like a woman than ever before. In high school, it was like, what power do I have - I have long blond hair, you know? But working as hard as I do now, I feel a sense of power and respect, too. And I've learned an incredible amount about fashion on Gossip Girl. Clothes are a personal expression, and my style is as ever-changing as I am: I'm growing, maturing, developing, I'm going through new things in my life, and with that, what I choose to wear changes."

Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page Kiss and Cozy Up in MC

Drew Barymore and Ellen Page teamed up in matching yellow for the October cover of Marie Claire. Inside the magazine, the girls got saucy in their roller skates and kissing for the camera. Ellen has been spending her Summer filming Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio while Drew has been working and playing with her boyfriend Justin Long on Going the Distance.The girls are back together to promote Whip It! talking about their experiences learning roller derby for the movie and what it was like for Drew as a first-time director. Here's more:

Drew on when she decided to direct: "I was 6 years old. That's when I turned in my first script to my godfather. [That would be Steven Spielberg, folks.] He called it Terms of Endrewment - ironically, like Whip It, it was also about a mother-daughter relationship."
Drew about Ellen: "Ellen has such a beautiful body, and I personally battled with my own body image for years. I used to tell myself, You can't wear anything sleeveless or strapless. And all of a sudden I was like, What if I just didn't send such negative messages to my brain and said, wear it and enjoy it? And now I'm more comfortable in clothes than ever."
Ellen on Drew: "I first met Drew at the Chateau Marmont. And it was a surreal moment for me in my life. You could just feel her warmth and kindness immediately, and the way she carried herself was just so grounded. So then it was like, 'Oh, this is going to be great.' And then it went into, 'Oh, my God, I'm really crazy about this person.' It just grew and grew and grew and grew and grew."

Gamer Ashley Is Surprised She Didn't End Up Like Britney

We already got a peek at Ashley Olsen's appearance in September's Marie Claire, and now there are more images from her photo shoot, plus quotes from her interview. Ashley talked to the magazine about her love of fashion and the pressures of fame during childhood. She said:

On pressure she and Mary-Kate faced in childhood: "I look back at the things that we did and the clothes that we wore, and I think, 'Wow, we really were troupers.' It was almost like I was in the army. School, work, homework, fly to New York, get in at 2 in the morning, do a morning show at 5 am, then another one at 7, then a radio interview at 10, you know? ... That's why I look at Britney, and I'm surprised I didn't end up like her."
On their fashion sense: "I think you're either born with a sense of style or you're not. Either you care or you don't. And we love fashion. When we were going to NYU, I think that was the first time we were aware of the power of our personal style. Not the power of it, but the result of it. Between the big sunglasses and the Starbucks cup and the big sweaters, the hobo-chic thing, we were more shocked than anything [by the media coverage]. I get it; we were fortunate enough to have really nice clothes, and we put them together in this raggedy way. My mom wears glasses this big"-she mimes massive goggles-"from the '70s, and you wonder where we got it from?"
On winding down with Rock Band and her boyfriend: "I swear to you, [Rock Band's] brought out this whole new thing in me. I can be a very serious person, and I take my job very seriously, but at the end of the day, I need a break. . . [Being able to count on Justin Bartha] - It's more important than anything else in the world."

Ashley Strikes a Leisurely Pose For September's Marie Claire

Ashley Olsen is joining the ranks of the September cover girls with her appearance in Marie Claire. She's been featured in quite a few magazine spreads this year, mostly to publicize her designs and not her acting - as she's quick to point out. The issue is timed to coincide with the release of her upcoming men's collection and Fashion Week in NYC, where we'll hopefully see her and Mary-Kate taking in a few shows.

It's Easy Being Green For Cameron Diaz in Marie Claire

Cameron Diaz scored another July magazine cover, this time on Marie Claire. Like in her Vogue spread, Cameron talked about both her new movie, My Sister's Keeper, and the activism that's made her one of the most eco-friendly celebs. She took someone from the magazine along as she produced a short, exclusive video - check it out here - about what we can all do to help the planet, while also discussing her work, life, and fame. On being comfortable with her fame: "I just have a lot of friends. That's how I think of it. It's nice to see people smile . . . Every once in a while, you'll have those moments when people give you the stink eye. And you're like, 'What the f*ck is your problem? What, am I horrific-looking?' But really what they're thinking is, Am I seeing who I think I'm seeing? It's just a shock . . . I don't have any problem with being famous. I've completely made peace with being recognizable and people wanting to peek into my life in some way."
On her early days: "I had the good fortune of becoming famous once I had already lived a life, traveled a lot, stood in line, had to ask people to help me, had to find a way to make something work, pay the rent, scrape by . . . I used to do $4 a day with a girlfriend. We would get two tacos and split a Coke."
On this film project: "I was like, I'm going to get a camera, and I'm going to mobile-home it across the country, and I'm just going to find out what people are thinking. What would it take for the common person to become engaged. There's a lot of great minds out there who are thinking about this, who are coming up with solutions. Not to crash anybody's party, but to actually make the party better. Really, that's what it's about - that's my participation in it."

Beyonce Plays Girl Power Cheerleader For Marie Clarie

Beyonce posed in a sparkly mini dress for the June issue of Marie Claire, but it looks like she had even more fun modeling the Thierry Mugler looks from her tour for the photo shoot. In the article, Beyonce reveals that she sometimes keeps herself smiling by getting Jay-Z's name and face appliquéd on her nails. The superstar also admits that she's not always as strong as she appears but that's what makes her songs important. Here are highlights:

On her hit song Single Ladies: "More than anything, the song celebrates being single. It's like, if you've been doing all you can and it's not happening for you, go out and have you a good old time. Put on your sexy dress and move on."
On her music: "I know I'm stronger in the songs than I really am. Sometimes I need to hear it myself. We all need to hear those empowering songs to remind us."
On her year: "Fifteen years from now, I want to be able to look back and say, 'Wow. That's where I was at 27 . . . that was my best.'"

Beyonce seems pretty strong as far as we can tell, but she's got a whole tour lined up packed with performances in case she needs a boost.

Rachel McAdams Gets Into a State of Playful For Marie Claire

Rachel McAdams graces the cover of Marie Claire's March issue, looking gorgeous in her orange gown. Instead of a typical interview all about her upcoming film, State of Play, Rachel joined the magazine's book club for the month. In addition to discussing the novel she chose, Prodigal Summer, she also comments on attraction and relationships. She said:

"You know when you just walk into a room, and some days you're on and some days you're not? To think it all boils down to hormones and pheromones is a little disconcerting. At the same time, it's kind of interesting that we're still that primitive. It's still fairly basic nature. You're drawn to who you're drawn to."

We all know that Rachel is drawn to Josh Lucas these days, and we bet the actress is pretty irresistible to the other men in her life too.

Jennifer, Drew, and Ginnifer Talk Romance and Breakups

Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, and Ginnifer Goodwin premiered He's Just Not That Into You this week, and they recently sat down with Marie Claire to order a few drinks and chat about their movie and their own love lives. Jen even chatted about saving old voicemails from her husband and boyfriends and how the truth always comes out after a breakup. Here's more:

On lame breakup lines:
Drew: "I hate getting 'It's not you, it's me,' because I'm never gonna learn and grow from that. I don't want to live on lies and smoke and mirrors and horseshit. No way."
Marie Claire: "So you'd really rather have people say something hurtful?"
Jen: "Well, in a way - I mean, before it gets to desperation time. Before it gets to 'I throw you and the baby and the bathwater out,' let's see if we can work through that."
Marie Claire: "You know what? I'd rather be lied to."
Jen: "Oh, I disagree. I want the truth, because it eventually comes out anyway, and then everybody looks like an as*hole."
On technology and relationships:
Drew: "I remember when I first started dating, the big thing was RadioShack answering machines. It was such a huge deal to run home and check your messages. And when you could actually check from another phone? That was the craziest thing ever!"
Jen: "I still have the cassette tapes of messages from my first boyfriend, my second boyfriend, my husband. . . It's like saving love letters."

Drew: "Head straight for the carbs. Macaroni and cheese. Kraft. Deluxe. The kind with the cheese you squeeze out of a bag that takes at least a month to pass through your body."
Jen: "I don't eat a lot. I go straight to my girlfriends, though."
Ginnifer: The first thing I do is call my little sister. She drops everything . . . I'll call and say, "I'm breaking up right now, come get me. She absolutely has picked me up from hookups, with coffee in hand."
Jen: "Girlfriends - nothing like 'em, man."

It seems like Jen, Drew, and Ginnifer all came away with a new bunch of girlfriends to share their loves and heartbreaks with in the process of making their movie, which hits theaters on Friday.
