Stars Sparkle, Burn and Sing at the American Music Awards

The stars of last night's American Music Awards hit the red carpet before heading inside LA's Nokia Theatre for the main event. Janet Jackson kicked things off with an energetic eight minute performance, and the evening's first award then went to the Black Eyed Peas. The Black Eyed Peas went on to take the stage to do "Boom Boom Pow" with a special Nirvana twist. The show went on with performances from Carrie Underwood and Shakira, as well as from Jay-Z and Alicia Keys with "Empire State of Mind." Unfortunately not everyone stayed on their feet - both Jennifer Lopez and Adam Lambert took tumbles while singing.

There were other memorable performances, from Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and not to mention Whitney Houston's return to the stage before she received the International Award of Excellence. Jennifer Lopez had a beaming Marc Anthony in the crowd as she debuted her new single and showed off those customized Louboutins. Michael Jackson won multiple awards, and his brother Jermaine took the stage to accept the award on behalf of their family. Taylor Swift took home the most statues, though she wasn't there and the upset of the night might have to go to Gloriana who won breakthrough artist - make sure to check out the full list of winners. Kate Hudson joined her Nine costars Fergie and Nicole Kidman, though Kate did have a chance to share a special moment with Alex Rodriguez. Gwen and James Light Up the Starry Night

Gwen Stefani led the pack yesterday at Fashion Group International's annual Night of Stars in NYC. She struck a pose in black alongside fellow designer Eva Mendes, while Dita von Teese and Evan Rachel Wood apparently managed to avoid an awkward run-in. Gucci model James Franco took a break from his other Big Apple activities to smile for the cameras next to the house's designer, Frida Giannini, and Mary J. Blige. Mary and Frida were together earlier in the day to open the new Mary J. Blige Center For Women in Yonkers, and their charitable ways continued into the evening of celebrating the year's best fashionable good deeds.

Matt Mixes and Mingles to Benefit ONEXONE

Matt Damon has been in A-List company during his time at the Toronto Film Festival, and last night he was joined by another famous face, Bill Clinton, for a dinner benefiting his ONEXONE foundation. Taking a break from promoting The Informant!, Matt opened up about the importance of his charity work of brining clean water to areas with limited access. He said, "I was in Ethopia couple of months ago and there was this hand-dug well with kids dipping their bottles into something that looked like chocolate milk. . . When I get back from one of these trips, I sit with my wife and finally, after hours and hours of silence, I'll start talking about what I've just seen and experienced." Lucky Matt has a table full of ladies to share his stories with, though yesterday it was only wife Luciana by his side for the star-studded philanthropic event.

Paris Doesn't Need to Watch The Hills to Know It's Fake

Fresh off turning heads at the Cannes Film Festival, Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt were at the perfume industry FiFi Awards in NYC last night. Paris took home the prize for female celebrity fragrance of the year and also talked about why Doug is too good for The Hills. She said, "The show is, like, so lame and fake. He doesn't even want to be a part of it. They make up relationships when they’re not there, and he just thinks it's lame. I've never seen the show in my life. I have no idea what it's about. But he just thought it was cheesy." Paris also mentioned that Doug will making an appearance on the second season of Paris Hilton's My New BFF, so apparently he hasn't entirely lost his taste for reality TV.

Celebs Keep the Ball Rolling as Inauguration Continues

All eyes were on Barack and Michelle Obama as they made their way around the inaugural ball circuit last night, but there were plenty of other stars out partying as well. Ben Affleck caught up with Jessica Alba at the Artist Making an Impact Dinner, while Jay-Z looked dapper in his suit and glasses making a stop at the BET Ball. Jay also caught the Obamas' first dance, where his wife Beyonce brought many to tears. Rihanna stood out in her sassy gold number at the Feeding America Inauguration Charity Ball, which Courteney, David, Tobey, and Jennifer also attended. It was a memorable day and night for the whole country, and it looks like those who were lucky enough to be in DC celebrated in style all night long.

Jay-Z Performs Before Beyonce's Big Gala Performance

Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige took to the stage last night to perform at "In Concert of the Eve of Change" before this morning's inauguration. With Abraham Lincoln on his shirt, the rapper put on his second show of the weekend. Jay has played as much of a part as he can throughout the election, and tonight his wife Beyonce Knowles has the honor of singing "At Last" during Barack and Michelle's first dance as President and First Lady. After a long night of parties and shows, this morning's swearing in and speech were the emotional height of the weekend, and now it's time to celebrate our new president.

Diddy Turns 39 With Friends and a Special Gift From the US

Diddy's 39th birthday party at Mansion in New York last night was packed with his famous friends, and the celebration was doubly sweet after Barack Obama's Tuesday night win. The bday boy himself waved a patriotic American flag before mugging for the cameras with his buddy Jay-Z. While Beyonce found time to express her post-election patriotism, she'll be performing at the Europe MTV Awards tonight so the party was a no go. Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor stopped by after the Michael J. Fox benefit looking every bit the perfect team. Rebecca Gayheart hammed it up with Jack McBrayer, which reminds me that Oprah is on 30 Rock tonight! It should be almost as much fun as Diddy's fancy soiree.

Beyonce Knowles joined Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, and Diddy at a "Promote the Vote" rally for Barack Obama in Philadelphia yesterday. Jay-Z and Diddy have been campaigning for the last few days in key toss-up states, and Diddy took the opportunity to open up about how important this election is to him. He said, "It's a new day right now and my son is in fourth grade, and when they ask him what he wants to be, now he can say he wants to be president of the United States. That's all because of Barack Obama." Beyonce later added, "Everyone is excited and it's time. I feel like we have grown so much as a nation and we will continue to grow because of Mr. Obama." No matter who you're casting your ballot for, all eyes will be on the news as the day unfolds.

Jay-Z and Scarlett Take Their Last Chance to Rally For Obama

It wasn't all about Halloween this weekend; across the country rallies were being held to get out the word in the final days before tomorrow's election. On Saturday, Scarlett Johansson hit Ohio to show her support for Barack Obama and get out the vote, while her husband Ryan Reynolds got ready to run the NY marathon yesterday with her support from afar. Jay-Z spoke at rallies on both Saturday in Virginia and Sunday in Florida about how honored he is to be able to participate in the campaign, saying, "Obama's running so we all can fly." After this long campaign season, I can't believe tomorrow is so close - we hope you're all ready to get out and vote!

Stars Rock Their Fashion at Radio City Music Hall

Justin, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Charlize are just a few of the A-list celebs that came out to Condé Nast's Fashion Rocks concert at Radio City Music Hall on Friday night. The annual event helps kicks off NY Fashion Week and this year it also helped support Stand Up To Cancer. Beyonce debuted her $5 million 18-karat engagement ring before taking the stage in dazzling gold to perform with JT. Rihanna rocked a feather headdress while showing off her long legs on stage and Mariah Carey brought Nick to watch her perform. We had the chance to interview many of the celebrities on the red carpet, including Chris Brown, which you can read after the jump.
