Michelle Williams and Matilda Stick Together For a Sunny Brooklyn Weekend

Michelle Williams and Matilda Ledger were out and about together in Brooklyn this weekend. On Saturday, Matilda rode her scooter alongside Michelle as they ran errands and yesterday morning they were back out to pick up coffee and groceries. There was no sign of Michelle's new love interest, Jason Segel, after he was first spotted with the Williams-Ledger ladies in their neighborhood late last month. It doesn't seem like Michelle was far from Jason's mind though, since he was spotted carrying an iPhone case featuring a picture of Michelle and the words "I love you" around LA.

Michelle Williams followed behind as Matilda took a ride on her scooter in Brooklyn Monday. The girls got back to business this week after an apparently exciting weekend. They had the company of Jason Segel, who reportedly stayed at Michelle's Boerum Hill home. Michelle and Jason were spotted cozying up during a Saturday night dinner date at Frankie's and he was also seen on the streets of Brooklyn with Matilda on Sunday. Rumors that Michelle and Jason were dating started last month, when the duo were seen together at the Chateau Marmont, though neither party has commented on the relationship.

Michelle Williams was back to mommy duty yesterday as she picked up her daughter Matilda Ledger from a playdate in the suburbs of LA. On Sunday, Michelle attended the Academy Awards with her friend Busy Philipps as her date. Michelle had already snagged a Golden Globe this year, and was nominated for best actress for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn. Michelle didn't take home the Oscar - the win was reserved for The Iron Lady's Meryl Streep - but she nonetheless made a major impact on the red carpet in her Louis Vuitton gown. The actress was one of your picks for best dressed at the Oscars in the bright coral design.

This weekend marked the end of a busy award season for Michelle, who either won or was nominated for more than two-dozen honors for her latest role. Michelle frequently used her acceptance speeches to speak about her love for her 6-year-old daughter, calling out her "bravery" and "exuberance" as her biggest inspirations in both her life and work.

Matilda Ledger: Disney Needs Affirmative Action For Princes

OK, the 5-year-old daughter of Michelle Williams and the late Heath Ledger did not say that per se, but she did ask a Disney employee one pointed question during a trip to Disney World. In the February issue of Marie Claire, Michelle tells a sweet story about her daughter, an avid consumer of the controversial princess culture like all little girls.

"I took Matilda to Disney World recently and we saw all the princesses, and then she turned around and said, 'OK, now I'd like to see where all the princes are.' The Disney person said, 'Nobody has ever asked me that before. There aren't any princes here, honey.'"

I never thought of that, yet it seems so obvious. And when you think about it - don't all Disney princes kind of seem like the same generic guy? Disney clearly knows its audience. Next time, Matilda, to really shake things up, ask Disney where the overweight princesses are!

Dawson's Creek costars and best friends Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps brought their daughters, Matilda and Birdie, out for brunch in LA on Saturday. The actresses met on the set of the TV show and have remained close, with Michelle even asking Busy to be Matilda's godmother. Four-year-old Matilda and 2-year-old Birdie are carrying on the tradition already as they playfully swung in the air and climbed around during their trip to pick up flowers at the supermarket. Michelle has been out promoting Blue Valentine, and at an event on Thursday she revealed that Busy was her moral support during difficult parts of filming. Busy also attended Michelle's LA screening hosted by Matilda's other godparent, Jake Gyllenhaal, and the intense role just earned both Williams and Ryan Gosling Critics' Choice Awards nominations. The Cougar Town star still has high hopes that Williams will find a way to guest star on the series, and we'd love to see Michelle show off her comedy skills too.
