Matthew and Camila Take a Swing at the Red Carpet

Matthew McConaughey took a break from playing in China's Mission Hills Star Trophy tournament this evening to attend a red carpet event with Camila Alves. He's spent the last few days golfing with Hugh Grant, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Christian Slater, and Michael Phelps as part of the event, designed to bring celebrities and sports stars together. Matthew's overseas after logging time last weekend with his family in Austin, where his j.k.livin foundation continued to support a group of kids participating in a half marathon. Matthew may be able to share a few running tips with Michael Phelps, who's apparently been getting Subway's Jared Fogle into shape for the upcoming New York City Marathon.

Golden Boy Phelps Gets Silver

After breaking world records left and right, and taking home a record-setting eight gold medals from Beijing, Michael Phelps came in second place.

This is his first loss in four years in an individual race at a major international meet. German swimmer Paul Biederman bested Phelps in the 200-meter freestyle buy 1:22 seconds. Biederman placed sixth in this event in the Olympics last August. Needless to say, Phelps was upset by this upset. He told reporters,

Deep down inside, I can't be mad. I can't be disappointed. Paul swam a great race. He split that 200 free pretty much perfect. I didn't have anything in the last 50. And when he pulled away from me, I kind of got left pretty quick.

read more. Earlier in the week FINA, the international governing board of competitive swimming, decided to regulate both the type and amount of fabric swimmers are allowed to wear in competition. The era of high-tech swimsuits ushered in by Speedo's LZR will end next April. Phelps competed wearing his high-tech suit, but the LZR is now considered old school. Swimsuit manufacturers, Arena and Jake, have created suits that contain even more impermeable panels making swimmers even more buoyant and streamline, and therefore faster. Phelps's coach, Bob Bowman, believes the newer suits are giving swimmers an unfair advantage and he wants a "level the playing field," ditching the high-tech suits. When asked if the swimmer or the suit out swam him, Phelps simply replied, "The swimmer." What do you think?

Michael Phelps Cleans Up at the Star-Studded ESPY Awards

Many celebs hit the red carpet last night at the ESPY awards in LA to honor the stars of the sports industry. Samuel L. Jackson was the evening's host, and he kept the audience laughing with his jokes about Twitter. Zachary Quinto took the stage looking dapper in his suit, while Miranda Kerr smiled for photos before the scary robbery at Orlando Bloom's house. Demi Moore was also on hand to present Michael Phelps with one of his five awards. It might not have been as snazzy as last year's Justin Timberlake's ESPY hosting gig, but the athletes and stars looked fantastic for the sports-filled night.

Michael wasn't the only one getting trophies - Hollywood's beloved Lakers won Best Team. Other presenters included Rashida Jones and Jeremy Piven, while funny men Andy Samberg and Seth Meyers watched alongside Billy Crudup. The festivities are set to air Sunday evening on ESPN.

Olympic swimming champ Michael Phelps dove into some hot water when he was photographed taking a bong hit, but that has not kept the 14-Olympic gold medal winning Adonis from keeping some lucrative endorsement deals, including some new Subway sandwich ads opposite Jared, the usual spokesperson.
