Charlize, Sandra, Bradley Kick Off Award Season in Hollywood

The red carpet was brimming with beautiful stars in LA last night at the Hollywood Awards Gala, which is referred to as the first stop of award season. Charlize Theron was fresh off her trip to SF and looking hot, while Kate Beckinsale was also sexy in black. Diane Kruger held down the angelic side in white, and newlywed Zooey Deschanel stuck with her standard cute look. Hilary Swank posed after her Amelia had a disappointing opening weekend, though she took home the Best Hollywood Actress statue for her work in the film.

Inside the event, Sandra Bullock, Morgan Freeman and Zachary Quinto entertained the crowd from onstage. Julianne Moore had a big night, taking home Best Supporting Actress honors for her work in Tom Ford's directorial debut, A Single Man, and Bradley Cooper won the Hollywood Comedy Award. It was just three short years ago that Lindsay Lohan won the breakout actress award at the show, which finishes up the Hollywood Film Festival - pretty interesting. This year, though, the accolade went to Carey Mulligan for her work in An Education. With the announcement of Ricky Gervais as the host of the Golden Globes, award season is underway and we're starting to get a look at whose names will be gracing the nominees' lists.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa scored the top spot at the box office this weekend, earning $63.5 million and winning the record for best opening of the year for a family cartoon. Role Models came in second with $19.3 million. - BuzzSugar

Shia Returns to the Red Carpet to Show Off His Eagle Eye

A dapper Shia LaBeouf kept his injured hand in his pocket leading the way at the premiere of Eagle Eye in LA last night. You all aren't huge fans of Megan Fox, but the sexy siren held her Transformers costar's hand as they walked down the red carpet. Shia's costars in the movie at hand last night, Michelle Monaghan and Billy Bob Thornton, looked beautiful and creepy respectively. It's good to see Shia out smiling again and hear him back on the interview circuit not shying away from talking about his crash and how lucky he is. The thriller hits theaters next week so we'll see whether viewers are ready to welcome him back as a leading man after his dramatic Summer.

Their romantic comedy wasn't exactly a box office homerun, but luckily Patrick still has his day job at Seattle Grace to fall back on. Speaking of which, who's excited for the big Grey's Anatomy finale? Tonight is clearly all about which David will be crowned American Idol, but tomorrow the spotlight is reserved for the eternal question of whether or not Meredith and McDreamy belong together.

Dempsey and Michelle Witness Red Carpet Wedding

Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan looked adorably casual for TRL yesterday then cleaned up quite nicely for the premiere of Made of Honor in NYC. It's only appropriate that they got dressed to the nines for the red carpet, since it wasn't just about celebrity photo ops - one couple won the contest to get married at the premiere! The ceremony was officiated by Entertainment Tonight's Mary Hart and included a Honeymoon in Paris and dance lessons. Patrick commented, "I'm sure the couple's going to remember this for the rest of their lives." Diane Kruger left her hot man Joshua Jackson at home and slipped into something glamorous for last night's "A Night of a Thousand Lights" party to benefit St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in NYC. She wasn't all by her lonesome, however, as she met up to make model-y faces for the camera by the side of Michelle Monaghan among others. Diane is quite the red carpet pro these days, but she always seems to keep it interesting and help light up the night.

Shia Gets Serious, Smokey and Smiley

He looks so serious peeking out of the back of that ambulance, but clearly he was simply in character since shortly after he was showing off his big grin. The smoking star (boo) has a lot to smile about these days, especially since he just scored another VF cover. He even shared a laugh with his beautiful co-star Michelle Monaghan. Looks like Shia still has a way with the ladies, so maybe our prediction for him to score a celebrity girlfriend in 2008 will come true!

Ben Stiller Premieres The Heartbreak Kid

Last night in LA Ben Stiller and lots of cute ladies came out for the premiere of his latest comedy, The Heartbreak Kid. Christine Taylor looked beautiful in basic black along with her husband's costars Malin Akerman and Michelle Monaghan while Emmanuelle wins best dressed for standing out from the pack in her cute nude mini dress. The film reunites Stiller with The Farrelly Brothers (hello Something About Mary). Ben's been busy directing Tropic Thunder in Hawaii and just recast Owen's role with Matthew McConaughey. Ben recently talked to Ellen about his good friend and said, "He's doing really well. "I sort of like to protect his privacy, 'cause I feel like it's his own thing. But he's a really good friend of mine. He's an incredible guy and I wish him as everybody does, all the best."

Basterds Hits NYC With Help From Diane, LL, Chace and More

It was another star-studded evening celebrating Inglourious Basterds at a screening in NYC last night. Quentin Tarantino and the movie's stars - minus Brad Pitt, who is apparently back in France with his family - gathered with some celebrity friends at the Cinema Society event. Lindsay Lohan, who has been working with Quentin's friend Robert Rodriguez on Machete, hit the red carpet, as did Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford and Sebastian Stan. Diane Kruger was once again one of the boys with the mostly male cast. This weekend's NY Times put a lot of pressure on this movie to help salvage the reputation of the Weinstein Company and this weekend we'll see if all the promotion from Diane, Brad, Eli, BJ, Quentin and more is enough to lure people out to see the ambitious film.
