Penelope Adds a Goya to List of Award Season Honors

Penelope Cruz hopped from the Rome set of Nine to Madrid, where she walked the green carpet at last night's Goya Awards alongside her sister Monica and Benicio del Toro. Benicio took home the Best Actor statue for Che, and Penelope was crowned Best Supporting Actress for Vicky Cristina Barcelona. She's no stranger to the podium at the Goyas, but she was still deeply touched by the honor. Penelope didn't stick around Europe long - she made it to LA to attend today's Oscars luncheon. She recently opened up about her nomination, saying,

It’s not a lie that it is an honor to be nominated, and if I don’t win, I won’t be any less honored, but . . . look, ask anyone who is nominated. No matter what you think you feel about awards, when you’re there, sitting in that seat, with those people, all dressed up - of course you want to win!

She's facing stiff competition on Feb. 22, but she just got some extra practice yesterday delivering an acceptance speech.

Famous Sisters Ride Solo and Take a Bite Out of Mango

Mango relaunched its SoHo store last night with dinner at Shang, a party, and some celebrities to help celebrate. While Mary-Kate was over in Dubai, Ashley Olsen posed by herself in a casual all black dress. She rolled solo, but rumor has it Ashley's boyfriend Justin is moving in to her LA house as things get more serious between the two. The $1 million bribery lawsuit he had to pay didn't seem to bother Marc Jacobs much as he once again wore a skirt and smiled with his boyfriend Lorenzo. Even without sister Penelope, Monica Cruz was there to support their clothing line in the store, and Solange Knowles sang for the crowd as everyone enjoyed a little Mango.

Salma Joins the European All-Stars to Party With Vanity Fair

Some of Europe's finest were out in Seville last night to celebrate the launch of Vanity Fair's Spanish edition. Monica Cruz was there to represent the host country, while Brit Orlando Bloom mingled with Eva Green and Olivier Martinez, who are both French. Salma Hayek was the lone North American, looking like a hot mama in her black silk gown. Spain's hottest actor, Javier Bardem, was off at the San Sebastian Film Festival, but it looks like the international crowd had some fun nonetheless.

Things are pretty busy for Penelope these days - she's been showing off her line for Mango and working on Broken Hugs, the latest film by her BFF Pedro Almodovar. Beyond all that, there have been rumors of an upcoming wedding for her and Javier, though we're not sure how she'd find the time to plan it!

Penelope and Monica Cruz stopped off to do a little evening shopping in Madrid over the weekend. We all know the gorgeous sisters are budding fashion designers, but they certainly love to peruse the racks together too. I just hope she picked up something completely fabulous to wear when she accompanies her boyfriend Javier Bardem at the Oscars. Considering his record of winning this award season, chances look good that she'll be able to cheer her man on (and smile for the camera looking for her reaction) as he takes the stage to accept his little gold man.

Penelope and Monica Cruz were out in LA yesterday doing what sisters do best - shopping at Barneys. It looks like Monica was focused on headgear, but perhaps this hat in particular is not her most flattering. Meanwhile, Penelope's boyfriend Javier Bardem is raking in the acting nominations and wins for his outstanding work in No Country For Old Men, including a Golden Globe win for best supporting actor on Sunday and a BAFTA nomination yesterday. Hopefully we'll get at least one glamorous Penelope on the arm of her man as award season (and his winning season) rolls shakily on.

Penelope and Monica Debut Their Mangos

The sisters headed to a photocall and party in Ibiza for the New Mango Collection, which they both helped design. The media of course was more interested in talking about Penelope's love life than her clothing. She addressed the latest about her rumored relationship with her newest co-star, Javier Bardem. She said, "I don't talk about that. I don't read most of what is written about me. It's not true. He's a friend and the best actor in the world." Well, even if they aren't dating, we still hope to get a glimpse of these two on the set of Woody Allen's new project sometime soon!
