Angelina Bares Her Soul For Vanity Fair

We already saw Angelina Jolie's Vanity Fair cover starring her cleavage, but now we've got a look inside the issue. Angie plays it up with different wigs, but there's also no shortage of sex appeal from these photos. In the issue, she doesn't seem to hold anything back about her kids, her relationship with Brad, and how she's been affected by her mother's death. Here are highlights:

On her relationship with Brad: “People have made a lot out of it that we’re not. But we both have been married before, and it’s very easy to get married, but it’s not easy to build a family and be parents together. And maybe we’ve done it backwards, but we certainly feel married.”
On naming her daughter Shiloh: “It’s a biblical name, but we didn’t name her for that. It was a name my parents almost named their first child-there was a miscarriage: Shiloh Baptist. Because my father had been shooting in Georgia and that was the most southern name [my parents] could come up with. It’s a name I always liked. I used to go under it in hotels: Shiloh Baptist. I’d gone under it when [Brad] called hotel rooms where I was staying.”
On her mother's passing: "When [my mother] passed, I realized that somebody who lives life with that kind of dedication to their family is the most noble. I was aware of it growing up. I admired her. And I loved her. But in her passing she reminded me what matters. And what’s most fun-to put yourself aside for these other little people you’re raising.”
On religion: “Brad got me this great thing for Christmas. It’s a bookshelf that has a book on every religion. That’s how we plan to raise our kids. Teach them about all religions. They can pick one or be a student of all of them. We’ll celebrate Kwanzaa for our girl. We’ll celebrate moon and water festivals for our boys. We’ll take them to temples in certain countries. Also to church.”

On why she chose to do Wanted: "Because I had just done A Mighty Heart and was scheduled to do Changeling, which is about the kidnapping of a child. And I had lost my mom. And I knew I was in this odd, fuzzy state going from one loss and kidnapping to another loss and kidnapping. Then Wanted came along. It’s about being physical and jumping and running and being violent, and instinctively I knew I needed to do that.”
On teaching Maddox about death: “Mad always knew my mom was sick. So when it happened, I sat him down and I told him how some people believe there’s a heaven where everybody goes and is together again. And they believe it’s very white and beautiful. And some believe-he’d just seen Casper-there are ghosts who are people and they are always around. And some believe it’s a long peaceful sleep. When I told him, and I was crying, ‘Grand-mère died today, we won’t be able to see her anymore, but she’ll always be around,’ he said, ‘Like she’s here now? Like she’s in that chair?’ And I said, ‘Well, I suppose she could be.’ And he accepted it. It’s funny. It’s like we teach kids the things that we want to believe. Then we see that they have such beautiful faith and it helps them go to bed and we’re in the other room not sleeping well.”
On sharing a love of philanthropy with Brad: “This was actually one of the things that brought us together. Though he wasn’t as publicly active, I found him to be very aware of the world, very curious, very compassionate. In his private way, he had been doing a lot. When we met, we realized our common goals were that we both wanted to be involved in the world and see what we could do. We have similar interests but different approaches. He’s more involved in rebuilding New Orleans, environmental issues, green sustainability. I am more refugees. But when it comes to common goals-orphans, orphans’ rights, children-we support each other. It brings us together and makes our relationship work.”
On meeting Brad: “After my last divorce, I said I was absolutely going to marry somebody in another field, an aid worker or something. Then I met Brad, everything I wasn’t looking for, but the best man, the best father I could possibly wish for, you know? I don’t see him as an actor. I see him very much as a dad, as somebody who loves travel and architecture more than being in movies.”

Angelina also gushed about what a gifted architect Brad is, and apparently she's not the only one who thinks so - he's going to show off more of his skills by designing an eco-friendly hotel in Dubai. Jennifer Love Hewitt's Engagement Trip Turned Sour

Jennifer Love Hewitt and her new fiance Ross McCall were trying to enjoy their engagement vacation in Maui, but unfortunately their trip was slightly tarnished due to some nasty online stories about the actress. Jennifer released a statement in defense of her body, and we asked what you thought of her reaction. The majority of you were proud she spoke up. For the most part, these two are enjoying their break, and since production on Jennifer's show, The Ghost Whisperer, has shut down indefinitely due to the writers' strike, they can enjoy a long and relaxing vacation to celebrate their newly engaged excitement.

Life Lessons From Natalie Portman

The usually impeccably gorgeous Natalie Portman looks a little off in the coverspread of this weekend's Parade Magazine. Maybe it's her hair? I've been loving her grown out locks, but something about this ages her too much. With the endearingly precious Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium hitting theaters in a few weeks Natalie shared a few of the life lessons she has learned in her wise, wise 26 years. Including her regret over one revealing scene in Goya's Ghosts that in the end wasn't even her. Here's highlights:

On growing up famous: The summer after seventh grade, I shot my first movie, The Professional. Looking back, I realize that I might not have been that sensitive when I told people about it, and it came off as bragging. I was going to a small private school, and the other kids completely turned against me. No one would talk to me. I was so miserable that I had to change schools. But it made me think about how what I say affects other people, and I corrected my bravado.
On trusting her decisions, and that regret: I’ve always been something of a pleaser: I want to make other people happy. That’s not the worst thing. I mean, the fact that you like people and want them to like you is great-as long as you’re not sacrificing who you are. I’m not someone who has a lot of regrets, but last year I did something that I wasn’t comfortable with, and I’m really sorry I didn’t listen to my intuition. There was a scene in a movie that felt inappropriate for me, but I didn’t want to make waves. So I let myself get talked into it, even though it shook me up. From now on, I’m going to trust my gut more. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is say “no.” No matter how much you plan and how hard you try, you can’t predict the outcome of things.

As expected, Natalie sounds like she's got a great head on her shoulders and could teach a thing or two to her contemporaries. Just think, she's only in her mid-20s...and she's already corrected the silly mistakes of her youth. Sigh, kinda little miss perfect.

So Not Cool

J Love needs to be a little more discreet. She is clearly being photographed pretending to read the tabloids as a cheap attempt to be included in the following weeks issue with the headline, "Look at Jennifer Love who loves to read (insert whatever magazine she is photographed with)."

I think she's cute and dresses well most of the time, but she needs a lesson on being cool. She's about to enter the category of those celebrities who try way too hard and they end up becoming annoying (i.e. Sharon Stone & Gwen Stefani).

We all remember how cute she was on Party of Five and how hot she was in I Know What You Did Last Summer but she really has not done anything but BS TV movies since then. I am not writing her off as a total has-been yet since she does have a new show on CBS this fall called Ghost Whisperer, but in the meantime she needs to cut out super lame photo opps like these in order to keep her dignity.
