Ashlee and Pete Celebrate Their Best Year Ever!

There were plenty of parties to choose from on NYE, but Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz had their own at PURE in Vegas on Wednesday. The couple celebrated their first new year as newlyweds and parents with other celebs like Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, and the Kardashian sisters - check how out how all the stars celebrated new years here. After an exciting 2008, Ashlee was hard-pressed to find a resolution, saying, "I don't know if I can have high expectations for 2009 because 2008 was so good. It was the greatest year of my life." Pete used his blog to gush about his wedding and Bronx marking the best parts of his year, and while he was one of our lovable douches of 2008, maybe he'll grow to be one of our favorite dads in 2009.

Paris Hilton and Brittany Flickinger continued their tour of Sydney last night with dinner after a long day of shopping before hitting the beach and getting all dressed up for tonight's New Years eve party. Paris managed to surprise and even offend some locals by spending the equivalent of $100 a minute, but the Deputy Prime Minister was quick to step in and declare it a good thing. Who knows why actual politicians were drawn into the minor controversy, but hey. Paris, her new BFF and Nicky are already partying their way into 2009 and maybe on Paris's list of New Year's Resolutions should be to not star in the worst movie of the year again.

Kanye West's New Years Will Be a Quiet Night In?

Kanye West seemed to be in good spirits out in LA after a meal at yummy Houston's this week. It's been a rough year for Kanye and the paparazzi with two different incidents where it turned violent, but maybe he's turning over a new leaf for 2009. One thing we won't be doing is seeing Mr. West out partying anywhere tonight - according to his blog, he's staying in on New Year's Eve for the first time in five years to enjoy a little down time instead. Considering this hard worker says he never takes vacation, he must be pretty beat to take a break after a marathon 2008.

Shia LaBeouf ventured out of the house on Tuesday to pick up a snack before working on a classic car and taking out the garbage. Looks like his hand is going to stay bandaged up right into 2009, but after a year filled with drama, a fresh start may be just what Shia needs right now. Last year you voted him the celebrity to spend New Year's Eve with, but after all of his drunken shenanigans we're thinking he probably kept a lower profile this year.

She was back in the South with her whole family including her boys and Jamie Lynn and Maddie to celebrate her brother Bryan's New Year's Eve wedding to Jamie Lynn's manager. Lots of you would have liked to have spent NYE watching Britney on the dance floor, but time with family is a healthy start to her year - maybe 2009 will even bring Britney a new romance of her own.

The holiday season may be over, but we couldn't resist sharing these adorable photos of Britney and her boys all dressed up for Bryan's wedding on New Year's Eve. 2009 means another fresh start for Britney, and she's starting the year off with her dad as official permanent conservator. While we think having her father in control may be best for Britney's well-being, apparently the decision was made when she discovered she couldn't insure her upcoming tour without Jamie's conservatorship. Now that everything is in place, we can't wait to hear more about her tour - despite the rumors that the pop star is still having some rehearsal trouble.
