Nelson Mandela Throws a Party 90 Years in the Making

It was a 90th birthday party to remember for Nelson Mandela, who went big for his star-studded celebration in London's Hyde Park yesterday. Will Smith managed to tear himself away from his non-stop promotional tour of Hancock to catch up with his buddies Robert de Niro, Forest Whitaker and Denzel Washington, and of course to spend some time with Jada. There was no sign of Amy Winehouse, but Naomi Campbell was happy to provide the drama, showing up even though Nelson personally requested she be removed from the guest list after her recent legal issues.

Conde Nast Movie Night Rocks the House

Last night at the Kodak Theater Condé Nast hosted Movies Rock which lucky for us will air on CBS next week. The idea was to celebrate film through music with performances by Beyonce, Fergie, John Legend, Tony Bennett, Usher and more. The idea is similar to the Fashion Rocks concert which celebrated Fashion Week and music. This time around Jennifer Lopez proudly showed off her pregnant belly while Fergie continued to amaze the crowd with what looks like a flying performance. American Idol Reunion Rules At the AMAs

Last night was all about the AI alums at the American Music Awards. Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry (and his band) walked away with three glass pyramids apiece while Justin Timberlake won two, but had to accept via satellite. He seemed so thrilled about it, too. Check out the full list of winners here. Fergie got pretty emotional during her acceptance speech for Best Female Artist, but at least she remembered to thank hot Josh watching her from the audience. Alicia Keys didn't win any awards, but her performance was my favorite of the night. Another highlight was Beyonce and Sugarland's version of "Irreplacable," though maybe I just love that song no matter what. That wasn't B's biggest moment though - Usher gave a a sweet speech (but has some reading trouble) giving her the 5th ever special International Artist Award. Congrats to all the artists filling up their mantles with AMA statues.

The ladies mixed it up on the red carpet at the American Music Awards last night, but most opted to show off their stems. Never one to blend in with the crowd, Beyonce decided to go with the mermaid look that was a favorite back at the Emmys. What did you think about all the red carpet looks and beauty? Rihanna usually kills it on the red carpet, but we all agree that she missed the mark this time around. Luckily she looked much better during her acceptance speech (click here for winners) and performance - more on that later. Overall, most of the ladies managed to look both glamorous and flirty but who do you think was the best dressed?
