Patrick Dempsey Avoids the Mall and Spends Black Friday at the Beach

Patrick Dempsey packed up the car and headed to the beach in Malibu on Friday. He was joined by his wife, Jillian, and their twin boys, Darby and Sullivan, on the sunny day. Patrick spent the holiday with his loved ones, and recently dined with fellow cycling enthusiasts at the NorCal High School Mountain Bike League's annual Cyclefest fundraising dinner. That wasn't the actor's only cameo appearance this month. Patrick also popped by the LA Auto Show for the unveiling of Mazda's 2013 CX-5. He's a long-time Mazda supporter, having checked out the Mazda Formula 1 vehicle earlier this year during a racing event at Le Mans.

Matthew, Cindy, Christina, and Joe Dress Up to Check Out Cirque's New Show

Many of Hollywood's hottest couples hit the red carpet in LA yesterday for the premiere of Iris, a new production from Cirque du Soleil. Matthew McConaughey threw on a fancy vest to pose alongside his sequined ladylove Camila Alves, while Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber shared an afternoon out with their kids. Christina Hendricks posed with husband Geoffrey Arend, as did Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka. NPH was impressed with what he saw, basically tweeting a rave review. He wrote, "Just saw the premiere of Cirque du Soleil's new show Iris. It's ammazing! If you come to Hollywood, it is a must see! Best show in years!" Recently single Joe Manganiello was looking hunky before the show began, and he was able to mingle with some other single stars like Vanessa Hudgens.

Grey's Anatomy is back tonight, and we've got a taste of what we can expect from the two-hour season premiere. We've already learned that Meredith will be getting fired, but, thankfully, she's not quitting motherhood - both Mere and Der are looking pretty sweet playing with their new daughter, Zola. It also looks like Karev's having some trouble getting back in good graces with Cristina and Meredith, and Teddy's ready to show off her new relationship with Henry to everyone at the hospital (yay!). Patrick Dempsey and His Wife, Jillian, Do an Adults-Only Dinner in Malibu

Patrick and Jillian Dempsey linked arms as they left Malibu's Nobu on Saturday night. It was Patrick's second dinner date there in less than a month, since he ate there with pals recently too. Patrick's spending his evenings with friends and family, but during the day he's resumed his doctorly duties on the set of Grey's Anatomy. The hospital drama returns Sept. 22 with a two-hour premiere picking up where the emotional season finale left off. His future with Meredith, Ellen Pompeo's character, is still up in the air. Ellen and Patrick are both renegotiating their contracts, though Patrick assured fans they shouldn't be worried about McDreamy's future. One of Patrick's former primetime costars, T.R. Knight, landed a new small-screen role on an upcoming episode of Law & Order: SVU.

It was his second late night out in less than a week after Patrick and his Grey's Anatomy costar Ellen Pompeo hit Dan Tana's. The eighth season of their primetime drama is about to start shooting, though we'll have to wait until the Sept. 22 season premiere to see what lies ahead for McDreamy and Meredith. One thing's for sure; Patrick's having a successful Summer at the box office. His worldwide hit Transformers: Dark of the Moon has earned more than $750 million internationally, and next month he stars opposite Ashley Judd in the crime caper Flypaper.

Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey shared a meal together last night at Dan Tana's in LA. It's been a few months since the pair filmed their Grey's Anatomy season seven finale, and, during the hiatus, Patrick kept busy racing cars and promoting Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Ellen, meanwhile, has had an active Summer of hanging out with her family on both the East and West Coasts. Ellen and Patrick's doctor drama returns with a two-hour special on Sept. 22, though there were rumors he might not return after a misconstrued quote in Italy's Vanity Fair. The magazine insinuated that Patrick may leave the show at the end of the eighth season, and Patrick cleared things up during a recent sit-down with David Letterman. Patrick said fans shouldn't be "too worried" about McDreamy's future since they're just doing contract renegotiations.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon - A Rock'em Sock'em Blockbuster

Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third film in the Transformers franchise, has to pull off one major feat to please its fans: make up for the huge disappointment that was Revenge of the Fallen. Not only does director Michael Bay rise to the challenge, but he exceeds expectations with the big-budget blockbuster of your Hasbro-toy-loving dreams. The story is better, the jokes are funnier, the action sequences are epic. In a word, it delivers.

Sam Witwicky, the once geeky teenager played by Shia LaBeouf, is all grown up now and seeking his first postcollege job. Unfortunately, saving the world (twice!) and being BFF with the Autobots (aka the good transformers) aren't viable additions to his résumé, and he's plagued with the feeling of helplessness. Even his smokin'-hot girlfriend, Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who never once makes you miss Megan Fox), can't lift his spirits, and he ends up taking a job in a mail room. There, a seemingly cuckoo co-worker passes on some intel - the Decepticons (aka the evil transformers) are back - and thus begins Sam's fight to save the Autobots once again and prove that he's more than just a messenger.

read more. The film doesn't take itself too seriously, and you shouldn't either. The premise is hinged largely on the idea that Neil Armstrong's trip to the moon was actually part of an investigation into a foreign object that had crashed on the moon. When it was discovered that the object was actually the Autobots' spaceship, a government cover-up set in for decades. It's unrealistic to say the least, but so is a movie about alien robots disguised as cars. Since we're not in the theater for a believable story line, comedy becomes all the more important, and the laughs are injected at every turn. Sam's feelings about adulthood become comedic thanks to LaBeouf's exaggerated frustrations, and his unsung hero status becomes a joke that never gets old (thanks in part to his medal of honor that impresses nobody). The film also cashes in on its supporting players: John Malkovich and Ken Jeong steal scenes as Sam's bizarre new co-workers, while Patrick Dempsey is a perfect foil to LaBeouf as Carly's debonair boss. With a solid cast under his belt (which also includes Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, and Frances McDormand), perhaps the biggest lesson Bay learns is that audiences are looking for a human heartbeat underneath all of those scenes between the robots. Don't get me wrong: there's still plenty of bot-on-bot action here, but we're not subjected to dull, overlong scenes. Instead, Bay plays up the relationships between the earthlings, focusing more attention on the story arc than simply bombarding the audience with special effects. Aside from the final showdown that could have been 20 minutes shorter, the action sequences in Dark of the Moon are exhilarating. Bay's dominance couldn't be more evident, from the super slow-mo shots of Sam flying through the air to the operatic background music, but the scenes are heart-pounding and well-executed. This means we're also subjected to Bay's typical eye-rolling objectification of women (he did cast a Victoria's Secret model, after all), but the fun is well worth the gratuitous shots of Huntington-Whiteley's butt.

Patrick Dempsey Stops by The Late Show to Talk Transformers and If He's Really Leaving Grey's Anatomy

A very handsome Patrick Dempsey suited up last night for a stop by The Late Show in NYC. He's in the Big Apple this week for the opening of Transformers: Dark of the Moon following his international stops in Moscow and Paris. Patrick chatted with us on the red carpet at Wednesday night's Times Square Transformers premiere about Shia LaBeouf's wicked sense of humor and working with newcomer Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. BuzzSugar is singing the praises of Patrick, Shia, and the rest of the cast in their Transformers review, calling it an enjoyable big-budget Summer blockbuster. Last night, however, the topic of conversation turned to clearing up the rumors about Patrick Dempsey leaving Grey's Anatomy. During a recent interview with Italian Vanity Fair, one of his comments was taken out of context implying he was done with the show. Patrick joked with Dave that McDreamy's future has yet to be decided as they're still negotiating a contract, so fans shouldn't lose any sleep over it just yet.

While Patrick Dempsey was busy promoting Transformers 3 on The Late Show With David Letterman last night, Letterman couldn't resist changing the subject to Grey's Anatomy. He asked Dempsey to address the rumors that he's done with the show, to which Dempsey reiterated that his contract is simply up after next season and could definitely be renewed. He also tells Letterman that he shouldn't be that worried about a Seattle Grace without McDreamy, but I think we'd all feel a lot better if ABC made it official. Watch!

"Thrilled" Shia Debuts Transformers With Patrick, Josh, Tyrese, and Running-in-Heels Expert Rosie

Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley hit the Transformers: Dark of the Moon premiere last night in NYC's Times Square, which was decked out with a huge Transformer, Bumblebee, and about 1,000 screaming fans! Organizers of the screening went for a party atmosphere, complete with a DJ and even a host! Members of the cast like Ken Jeong and Josh Duhamel walked the red carpet along with fans of the franchise like Willow and Jaden Smith. We snagged a moment with an Antonio Berardi-clad Rosie, who told us about how her background as a model came in handy while shooting this movie. She said, "I think it helped me run in heels! I think that was one of the main things it definitely helped me with." Patrick Dempsey, meanwhile, walked the carpet with his wife Jillian by his side. The Grey's Anatomy star chatted about Rosie joining the mix of men. Patrick said, "She knows how to take care of herself in a situation with a lot of guys around! She's got a great sense of humor." Tyrese Gibson also weighed in on Rosie's role in the film, calling her "a sexy beast!" Shia, meanwhile, spoke about graduating from the Transformers franchise after three movies. Shia said, "I'm so thrilled. This is the best movie we've ever made. Had we not made a good movie, I wouldn't be thrilled. I'd probably want another shot at it."
