Ashton Kutcher was still rocking the bright yellow chicken suit, but this time he looks angry filming a scene from Personal Effects in Vancouver yesterday. Michelle doesn't look all too amused either. Talk about a fowl mood, yuk yuk. You know, not everyone can pull off yellow, but Ashton doesn't look so bad. It's probably his old male model roots (which he'll be flexing again as the face of Pepe Jeans) shining through.

Ashton Puts on His Serious Face

Ashton Kutcher and Michelle Pfeiffer pulled out their warm winter coats to get to work on their new movie Personal Effects in Vancouver yesterday. While these may not be the most flattering shots of Michelle, it's hard to forget how stunning she's looked in 2007. We already have a feeling that working on this film is going to be more serious for Ashton than rolling in the grass with Cameron. Despite his roles in The Butterfly Effect and The Guardian, we're still not entirely ready to give up his reputation as the prank loving creator of Punk'd.

Ashton Stays Plugged In and Keeps Us Updated

Ashton Kutcher stepped out for a sneak peek of Personal Effects in LA last night before getting to work on his new movie Five Killers this morning. He kept us updated via his Twitter and also posted a video of himself getting makeup done on his Facebook account. Ashton may be a bit addicted to technology these days, but we can't blame him, especially since we're loving Twitter and all our other geeky tech tools too.

Kiefer Talks Torture and Getting Turned on - 24 Is Back!

Kiefer Sutherland and the rest of the cast of 24 took the stage at this morning's Fox TCA panel, and while the questions kept coming back to whether or not the show condones torture, they managed to get a few good jokes in. After this week's four-hour season premiere and last month's TV movie 24: Redemption, are you on board with the new season? The show's producers and cast seem hopeful that a little break has made the show and Jack Bauer reinvigorated and ready to excite us. Here were some highlights from Kiefer at the press presentation:

On Jack this season: "We felt that Jack had great contempt for the Senate investigation because many of the things he was asked to do over the previous six seasons were ordered by the government (president). He is certainly questioning many of the things he has been asked to do, either ordered or on his own. He is wrestling with his own history and whether or not he is the kind of person who should have been asked to do these sorts of things. This inner struggle is something he carries for all 24 episodes."
On torture: "The use of torture was a dramatic device used to show urgency, not meant to validate this kind of behavior for the real world . . . In reality less than 10 percent of information they get from situations like this are helpful, but it is a television show and we are driving a plot forward and we use it for dramatic effect. But it does raise question of right and wrong . . . From my perspective it has always been literally a dramatic device to show you the urgency of a situation. There was just no alternative. One of the most moving scenes for me was killing my boss - we’re not condoning that, it was just part of the show. It’s as simple as that."
On keeping in shape: “Try to work out as much as you can in the off-season because it's tricky to maintain in the on-season. You do what you can with the time you’ve got like everyone. I run, and lucky for me during the day when I have to go to work, I run a lot there too. On an emotional level, fear and panic is my workout through the entire season . . .This has been an unbelievable gift . . . There is no specific regimen I have because our schedule changes so much."
On his 24 romance with the new FBI agent, played by Annie Wersching: "Given the situation I guess romances do develop over 24 hours. I think born of the respect [they have for each other] there is a tension that develops. Watching Annie do her first fight sequence I went, 'You know, that kinda turned me on too,' so it wasn't hard."

On the show as a phenomenon: "My name is not Kiefer anymore, it's Jack, and people talk to me like that . . . this character had these unbelievable characteristics but is really human. Nothing in 24 is black and white, it lives in a gray area and people were receptive at that time to accept something like that. It’s something that I am continually trying to figure out."
On the show being realistic: "In regards to the not sleeping, we’ve shot 24 for 17-18 hours and can imagine staying up for 24, but in season one he does fall asleep. There are aspects and times when we can play with that, but I haven’t been that focused on it the past few years. One time I walked into a restroom, but they cut it out. It’s not for lack of trying."
On shooting in Africa: "I went down to South Africa with a lot of prejudgments, I was very strongly against apartheid, I was aware that even with new government an unbelievable portion of the population is living in poverty and that population is [mostly] black . . . But when I started working with these nine children I was startled by how aware they are and how much joy they have. They took us into the townships with no running water or paved roads, and it made me take a serious look at myself and some of the things I might complain about . . . How unbelievably warm and affectionate these children were was really inspiring."

Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Her Shaping Up Secrets

Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna have long been fans of their beloved personal trainer, Tracy Anderson, and in this month's Gotham Magazine Gwyneth sat down to chat all about her two-hour-a-day fitness regime. She also opened up about a few more personal things, like her family, hair, and childhood. Here's more:

On sharing Tracy with Madonna: "The first time I did her workout, I knew Madonna would flip for it because it’s so hard and so effective. Right now, if Madonna or I have a project and we’re not in the same city, she’ll work with the one who’s traveling. When I did Iron Man she was with me in California. Now she’s on tour with Madonna, so I have another trainer from her studio here with me."
On working less now that she has kids: "I haven’t starred in a film since my kids were born, and I don’t think I will. I’ll never get these days back-they’re so delicious, and precious, and hilarious, I don’t want to miss them."
On chopping off her hair: "I’d had it long for so long, I think I’d made it like a talisman. I kept thinking about all the life I’d experienced while the hair was growing-I’d look at the ends and think, I had this hair when my dad was alive, and when I was pregnant with my daughter…. Then one day I was doing a Vogue shoot with Orlando Pita and I said, 'That’s it, I can’t take it anymore.' I wanted a fresh start, so he just chopped it off. And now I love it."

On summering at her house in the Hamptons: "I work really hard there-it’s like running an inn, in a way. We have a lot of guests, which is fantastic, but sometimes I feel so tired. At the end of the summer I got pneumonia. I think I just overextended myself."
On what she loved about growing up in NYC: "Underage smoking on stoops of brownstones, going to museums, the seasons, and how great a school Spence was - how well they prepared me for life."
On having another baby: "In theory, I’d love to. But it’s really hard for me when I’m pregnant - I’m sick as a dog for months. Sometimes I think, 'Oh my God, I want another one right now, I’ll sustain any amount of vomiting or whatever.' And then sometimes I think, Gosh, everyone’s sleeping through the night now. If it’s meant to happen, it’ll happen."

Gwyneth also said she's not doing any duets with her famous musical husband or BFF anytime soon. It's pretty obvious that Gwyneth has serious dedication to her workouts, but it seems like her family trumps all when it comes to her priorities.

You Can Thank Mom for Matt Damon's Smarter, Softer Side

Matt Damon is still in London with his favorite Pats hat (holla!), which kept his head warm out at Nobu last night. On his way in, he gave his dining buddy a big embrace and he also stopped to pose with one of the paparazzi pestering him as he went into the restaurant. While Matt is handing out hugs in London, his mom is talking about her new book on the effect of violence in the media on kids. Matt's no stranger to violent movies, but his mom's work has taught and changed him, too. He said:

On learning from his mom: "I've always made my decision about what movies to make with an eye toward these issues ... I've grown up knowing about all this, after all. As a high school kid, I'd come home to find my mom in the living room watching TV cartoons, counting acts of violence, and I would watch with her, to see what she was looking for. . . . I accept and agree with what she says - that it desensitizes kids, that there could be blowback from it."
On why it made him not allow his likeness in Bourne video games: "I lobbied hard [with the video producers] to not make a first-person shooter game but to make it more like Myst, which was a great interesting puzzle you tried to solve - you know, to play with his amnesia or his memory ... They weren't interested. They made the video anyway, without my likeness...I'd like to think that I at least made them more aware of the issues. That's step one. Step two is changing behavior. I learned that from my mom, too."

Not only is it great to hear that he's willing to stand by his convictions, but that he learned it from his mom is even more endearing. It doesn't even need to be said that Damon can do no wrong - because instead everything he does just makes him better.

Heath Ledger's Death Was an Accident

We've tried to stay away from all of the rumors and speculation about the events that led to Heath Ledger's sudden and tragic passing two weeks ago, but the results from the the toxicology report came in today and the New York medical examiner has ruled that his death was an accident. A statement was released saying, "Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine. We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications.” In response to this news, Heath's family released the following statement:

“We remain humble as parents and a family, among millions of people worldwide who may have suffered the tragic loss of a child. Few can understand the hollow, wrenching, and enduring agony parents silently suffer when a child predeceases them. Today's results put an end to speculation, but our son's beautiful spirit and enduring memory will forever remain in our hearts. While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy. Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage.

“Our family enjoyed an extremely happy two week visit with Heath just prior to the New Year. Those recent precious days will stay with us forever. We as a family feel privileged to have some of his amazing magic moments captured in film. To most of the world Heath was an actor of immeasurable talent and promise. To those who knew him personally, Heath was a consummate artist whose passions also included photography, music, chess and directing. We knew Heath as a loving father, as our devoted son, and as a loyal and generous brother and friend.

“We treasure our beautiful granddaughter Matilda (to our dear Michelle) as well as an unbelievably wonderful network of close friends, forever, around the world. Families rarely experience the uplifting, warm and massive outpouring of grief and support as have we, from every corner of the planet. This has deeply and profoundly touched our hearts and lives. We are eternally grateful.

“At this moment we respectfully request the worldwide media allow us time to grieve privately, without the intrusions associated with press and photography.”

Heath's closest family and friends, including Michelle and Matilda who arrived today will gather in his hometown of Perth, Australia, for the upcoming funeral and burial of the beloved actor. Our hearts and thoughts go out to Heath's loved ones. May he rest in peace.

Jessica and Cash Eye LA

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren were the couple of the night at last night's premiere of The Eye in LA. At least Cash, who usually skips the red carpet, got all dressed up (other than the Chucks on his feet) to be on his lady's arm for her big event. Jessica went with something flowy rather than skin tight, but still posed to show off that growing and famous baby bump of hers. Jessica's been honest about not being entirely thrilled with the physical side effects of pregnancy, but she looks great. I'm sure she and Cash can't wait to meet their new addition in a few months and we know at least one other person in Hollywood is counting down the weeks too.

Joaquin Comes Clean

Joaquin showed up at the Toronto Film Festival looking a bit rough but he cleaned up nicely for the premiere of Reservation Road. He looked a bit shy leaving the festival but maybe he was just tired out from all the dance moves he so elegantly displayed. Joaquin showed both his goofy and serious sides when talking about how the role in the movie affected him personally. Here's more:

"I'm going to be frank with you," he says, shifting sideways in his chair, admitting that in the past he probably talked about how certain roles might have been affected by his personal life.

"But, to be honest ... there is no effect on your real life. And if I said so in the past, I was probably only trying to get nominated."

And since, after being nominated twice for Oscars, it's no longer an issue?

"And now that that's done," he laughs. "I can finally be honest."

Well, now that Joaquin isn't trying so hard for the Oscar, maybe this will be the year that he finally gets to win one.
